Terrible experience
After hearing of a $21.oo monthly discount available from Direct Tv while watching the race I called to check on it. I got a live person who wouldn't listen to what I wanted but sure wanted me to know I was behind on my bill. So after denying me the advertised $21.00 discount. I asked about the $35.00 credit from last month. She told me that wasn't in the notes so it didn't happen. So then I asked for an arrangement plan for my bill. After holding on for twenty minutes I was denied any arrangements because I got them last month and I couldn't just expect to have them again. So after five minutes of begging for a resolution specialist I was given to MIKE badge number 100134986. Mike is the highest person at Direct TV, he informed me and although he was sorry Direct tv would rather lose my business than grant me an extension no matter what kind of rough time I am experiencing. But he did note that I was a good customer and they will hate losing me.

Representative Lied to me
I called to inquire about getting Direct TV to replace our cable service. One of the main reasons was to get my husband, a NY transplant, Yankees and Rangers games, so I asked alot about the sports pack. This was the main purpose of our ordering it. We are paying extra for the "sports pack"
I very specifically asked the customer service representative before I agreed to to contract if Yankees games were blacked out. I was extremely clear about this. There could not have been any doubt about my concern. He absolutely knew why we were ordering Direct TV. He repeatedly promised me that NO yankees games were blacked out. (I asked three times!!)
Guess what? He lied. Explicitly and without question. I was told that no yankees games were blacked out on the YES network. He even told me that not even Fax Saturday afternoon games were blacked out. So, it sounded great to me. I ordered it and my husband took a day off work while the installer was here and we even had to jump through hoops with our condo board so that they would agree to let us drill into the outside of the building.
And guess what? We don't get the yankees games! I assume the same is true with the Rangers game, but it isn't hockey season. Within three days of getting it installed, we discovered this. (We didn't try to watch yankees games before that because we were out of town.) We called, we complained, we explained the situation, that we were deliberately lied to, that we felt we had been defrauded, spoke with supervisors, with no results. Apparently, it is ok with them if their customer service reps lie as long as they get you to sign the contract.
We both feel that we have been defrauded so badly, and in such complete violation of any ethical standards, that we are considering appropriate action to take next. We just don't know what that action might be.

Identity theft
My husband signed up for Direct TV without my knowledge. Because of some past trust issues, all of our finances are kept seperate. About a week later, the bill arrived in the mail. Luckily, I happened to get home first so I got the mail. The bill was in my name. Apparently, my husband used my name to apply for the Direct TV service. The service man who came to our must have noticed that a man was signing documents with a woman's name on it. I tried to call Direct TV and have the account switched to his name, but they told me that he would have to call and take legal responsibility for the bills. I explained to the very nice customer service representative that I did not have the option to take legal responsibility. She explained that there was nothing she could do. When I asked to cancel the service, I was informed that I couldn't w/o having to pay for the service all 24 months. Now because of their irresponsibility, I am responsible for 24 months of a service I didn't ask for. On the bright side, I am able to see my husband for who he really is.

Scam, Scam, Scam
You will never believe what Directv did to me! So me and my fiancee just move into our new apartment and decide that these jokers would be the best deal as far as programming goes. So we order and 3 days later get them to come out and install our service. Guess what; 2 days after that our satellite falls right out off the brick wall and is dangling and bashing the walls of the apartment building. I would also like to note it was sparking and hanging directly above a pedestrian sidewalk. This was not during any type of high winds or storms of any kind. We call Directv and tell them the situation. They told me no one could make it out for 3 weeks?!! wtf, This is a major safety hazard!! After several hours on the phone I finally said fuck them and tried to cancel my service. They said ok but I would be charged $400.00 fucking dollars as an early termination!!! Needless to say I kept the service and some one finally came 2 weeks later to correct the problem. I kept it until the date my contract was up and when I tried to cancel they wanted $300.00 for their dumb ass "early termination". I told them my contract was done and they informaed me that because they had to come out and fix a fuck up that one of their installers made they had added an extra 8 monthes to my contract!! I couldn't believe it! The customer service reps are some of the rudest mother fuckers I have ever dealt with. This is one big scam of an operation and I cannot believe they are able to get away with this. Sorry for the french but every time I think of these scam artists I fill with rage. To anyone ever thinking of getting Directv don't do it! They will take your money and time and leave you angry with the worst channel line up you could imagine. Stay away! I would file a lawsuit against them in a heartbeat. One more thing; when I payed the termination fee I asked when someone would be out to take down the dish they said I own it so I need to figure out how to get it off the building myself. They will also extend your contract for any reason without you knowing it. Your bills will always fluctuate usually higher than expected every month. When you ask why not one of those rude idiots can give you an answer. Im done ranting just stay far away from directv.

Disceptive Practices
DO NOT sign up for Direct TV!!! THEY SUCK; THEIR TRADE PRACTICES ARE DECEPTIVE; THEY LIE AND MISLEAD THE CUSTOMER AND THE CUSTOMER IS NEVER RIGHT. And I did everything a prudent consumer should do prior to signing up for their service, and I still got screwed.
When I first called Direct TV, I asked a multitude of questions and took detailed notes. I had already opened and saved a word document with questions and typed everything into the word document while i was on the phone with their customer service tech.
1) I was told that I could receive a discounted monthly rate if I signed up for auto bill pay and if I registered my account and email address once I received my first bill. I follow all the steps necessary and regularly get emails from Direct TV, but they contend I did not set up my email account and will not give me the additional $5 discount.
2) I was never informed that i cannot order pay per view movies from the remote control unless I have a land line hooked up to the receiver. They are keenly aware I do not have a land line because when the customer service rep asked for my home phone, I told him I didn't have one and that the phone I use for my primary number is my cell phone.
3) I was told I would get the DVR receiver for an additional $5.99 per month. BUT the rep never disclosed I would also be charged an additional fee for DVR service on top of the DVR receiver fee. They insisted I was told when i signed up for service that there would also be a DVR service fee. Considering I've never had a DVR, how would i know how the damn thing works?
4) When I cancelled the DVR receiver, I was told I would be getting a box in the mail to return the DVR within 10-14 business days. I got the box nearly 8 weeks later. THEN when I didn't immediately return the DVR receiver to them in the box, they charged me $200!!! They would not afford me the same timeframe to return the damn thing as it took them to send me the box. Nor would they adjust the $200 off my account.
5) When I called to cancel service, I was told I had a 24 month contract with them. I MOST CERTAINLY DID NOT! My notes clearly state I agreed to a 12 month term but since I have nothing in writing from them, I am bound to these assholes for 24 months.
Should you ever have an issue and call customer service, they will do nothing to correct their mistakes and do nothing but pass the buck. THE CUSTOMER IS NEVER RIGHT AS FAR AS THEY ARE CONCERNED. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF MONEY, TIME AND AGGREVATION AND GO WITH ANYONE OTHER THAN DIRECT TV. I had cable with Comcast for many, many years and never had an issue with them and wish I had stayed with them. And when this Direct TV contract finally does expire, I will be going back to Comcast.

False Advertising
We signed up for DirectTV in January. THe flier that was in our mailbox says we get local HD Channels, we do not. We didn't even get NBC or CBS in regular quality. After several complaints to DirectTV, they charged us two dollars and some cents a month for NBC (regular quality) when it should have been free with the package we chose. We kept our service for several months to see if we could be happy without those channels, and we are not. When I called to cancel our service, they said that by installing our equipment and activating our service we agreed to a one year service agreement and since we are canceling early we have to pay a 160 dollar cancellation fee. We would not be canceling if we had received the service we were led to believe we were getting. It is ridiculous that a company can falsely advertise and then charge a cancellation fee when the consumer decides that she is not getting the service she is paying for.

charges
Direct TV offered me a free upgrade to a new box since I had my first year under my belt, the upgrade was worth $100.00 and that fee would waived since I met my yearly anniversary. Direct TV never gave me an upgrade for free, not only did they charge me for the $100.00 but they also charged me fro another $100.00 for installation and delivery. It took the tech about 10 minutes to hook up the box and get everything working...$100.00 for 10 minutes...is that not a rip off? Also I was never told about the $100.00 for installation or delivery. They for some reason do not see any notes about a free upgrade but they do see where I called...why would I make something like that up, it is a scam and I will be calling the better business bureau.

They took money from my account without prior authorization
I ordered the att bundle and i had the system for a week.I was not happy with the service and ordered cancellation.somehow direct tv is involed with this bundle and since i cancelled early direct tv started charging my credit card 498.99 when my bank noticed the extreme amount and declined the charge, they tried a second time for 399.20 and also got turned down and they kept trying for 299.41, 199.62 and finally99.83.They got the 99.83 from my account and told me four different times that they would never give me my money back. This is bad business practices and stealing from women. So I warn everyone that if your thinking of going with att(think twice)they will screw you and steal your money out of your account, well they allow direct tv to steal the money. There service stinks and so does there business practices. If you feel they have the same to you, come to this sight to complain, they need to be stopped. If theres enough complaints they might just have to go out of business, wouldn't that be great.we don't need shisters like that running our industries!!!

MLB Charges
Direct TV charges for MLB Sports package!
I did not order or ever receive notification of renewal of this service.
While Calling Billing at Direct TV I was placed on hold 3 times and disconnected 3 times...
After the fourth call I spoke with Loren who informed me he is the highest manager at Direct TV.
I stated to Loren tht my husband is critically ill and I would not have renewed. His response was "We do not give credit for sports channels and if I was unhappy let him know when I wanted to terminate my service!
OF THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS SPENT ON ADVERTISING TO GENERATE NEW CUSTOMERS, IS IT REASONABLE TO THINK DIRECT TV WOULD LOSE A CUSTOMER OVER $99.50.

Poor Customer Service/No Refund
After 1 year of service, due to repairs on my home I requested a temporary suspension in service for, which customer service informed me the company could provide. However, they drafted my account for services the next month and refused to return funds and informed me that they only way to received I could get my move back was as a credit once I moved back in to the home. However, onced I moved back into the home service could not be restored because immediately and they ignored that I was should to have a credit on my account and ask for over $100 to restore service to an account that was suppose to have a credit of over $200 on it. Therefore, I canceled the account, however, it has taken over three weeks to receive the boxes required to return the equitment. Once the Direct TV received the equiment back they still refuse to give me my old refund only $100. Therefore, no one should due service with Direct TV they will not value their customers, they will draft your debit/credit card without your permission and will not stand by their promises.
