Continued charges despite disconinuance request
Last March of 2008, I emailed direct to discontinue NFL Sunday ticket programming. Somebody responded to my email that it will be taken cared of. Complacent that I was, my husband asked why our direct tv bill is so high. I looked at our bill details and found out that I was still being charged for something I discontinued last March of 2008 starting July of 2008. I called customer service and she found the email. I made that call January 24th, 2009. I still get email notices that my account is late and my service will be discontinued. I called customer service again and the representative kept on insisting that if my bill is not right, why am I calling just now? I said that because I discontinued my service earlier, why was I charged after the fact. She, I don't know if intensionally or unfortunately dropped my call after waiting for 5 minutes to talk to a representative. In this day of economic hardship, these unfair practices I'm sure have continued to victimize innocent people. Who do I turn to because their customer service is outsourced, and I continue to get warnings that my account payment is late? I hope other people will come forward to expose this sneaky ripping off of innocent people. I hope justice will be done not just by me stopping any kind of business with them but by them rectifying these wrong service charges.

extreme abusive service
I have had my worse experience with Direct TV, I had requested a service and signed for a period of one year without HD, DVR, wich is a premioum service and requires 2 years commintment.
Their service gives the first month of movie chalnels and other features for you to enjoy at no extra charge for the first months, after that period, you/we are supossed to call to cancel; However, I call to cancel those packeges before the period and set up an outmated billing system so they get my payments automatically from my credit card, after three months, i noticed that they continued charging me for the movie plus features service that i had already cancelled months before, I called inmediatelly and their scuse was that the person who i had spoken to did not leave a note on my account that would tell the system about the change on the service and that i had to pay anyway. Since was not my fault, founded unfair that i had to pay for it, I asked again to cancell the sirvice, the person did it in the systm. Guess what? it has passed 8 months, i ahve called 6 time for the same problem and i am continuing payen for a service i don't want, on top of it they are charging me for the lease of an additional receiver which i don't have, oh, since i upgrade one reciever to a HD, 5 months ago, they automatically signed me up for a 2 years commitment so if i want to cancel their service, i wll be charged $20 per every month left which is around $450.00
I really regrate the day i called them for the service and would not recommend any want do do business with them.

fraud deception and bad costomer service
A year ago we as a family decited to switch to Direct TV from cable for a year commitment.
After having the system install and running I discover that the commitment my wife signed for 1 year garraanteed at the promotional price of $75.00 as we were told, was actually for 2 years. I disputed this and they reversed.
Exactly a year after I started having problems with one of my receivers loosing signal . They advised me to buy a protection plan for $5.99 a month or pay a fee of $150 for a technitian to come to my house to see what the problem was. I opted to get the protection plan. First time they came they could not fix it because no one was home I told him I was 10 minutes away, but they said they could not wait. The second time they never show up and called the next day to re schedule again. I was very upset and they told me they would sent a new receiver to replace the one I was having problems with, but that did not do the trick.The third time a supervisor was supposed to call to send a technitian from Direct TV instead of a contractor who are not reliable. Ten days later I never received a call.
I call customer service wich by the way they were very nice all this time until I told them I wanted to cancer the wothrless protection plan and that I would have someone else come and inspect the cables.
I was told that they would have to charge me a fee for early termination of the protection plan because it was under a year .
At this point I was frustrated and told them to cancel my my service. They told me I could not do it because since they sent me a replacemenbt unit now I was commited to keep the plan for another 18 months. I told them that was fraud and I would contact the BBB and consumers affairs. At this time they finally decited to disscontinued my service.
CUSTOMERS BEWARE AND READ ALL THE FINE PRINT IF YOU DECIDE TO GET DIRECT TV. THEY ARE NOT HONEST AND THEY HIDE LOTS OF THINGS FROM CONSUMERS.
I WILL GO BACK TO CABLE NOW !

Over charged
Last year we decide to get the NFL package.It was for two years and the cost was two hundred and sixty nine dollars total.The first year was fine we paid sixty four dollars for four months and this year we have paid six hundred dollars for four month so we contacted them and they said that they didn't understand why we were over charged, and they wouldn't do anything about it so we canceled and now they want to charge us two hundred and eighty dollars.I feel that this was not part of the deal.

unauthorized charges
please please do not give this company your bank credit card or any other kind of debit info they will rip you off in a hot second .i made a payment (1x) for my daughter and when she closed her account they took the charges out of my bank why because according to their so called CUSTOMER POLICY they have the right to charge any card they have on file.this is what they told me. I ARGUED with a rep not 1x but 5 x's that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE PAYMENT. and that he should have told me when i made the payment that this card could be used again if they had said that i would have stopped the payment right then and there. now i am into direct tv for 307. plus 72.00 for nsf funds caused by ther STUPID AZZ BS.there comments was sorry mam but that's customer policy

Installation Ripoff
I signed up for service with direct tv was told i would recieve a two room installation by a professional intaller with a off air antennea and
dvr recievers.. had to pay $160 bucks to direct tv sales person, , A week goes by the So-called professional shows up at my door DEMANDS
his CASH ONLY PAYMENT of $150 before he does anything else, I refused to give im the cash then he says i was only going to get a 1
room standard reciever and no off air antennea unless everything else was to paid to him IN CASH before he would even do a sight survey.here is a list of what i paid and what i recieved ...

THIS PROFESSIONAL INSTALLER COULD NOT HAVE EVER CHANGED THE LIGHTBULB ON MY PORCH WITH THE 6FT LADDER

Fraud/embezzelment
hello im sending this email out to all who will listen to me and my wife about direct tv! me and my wife were hit for 700 dollars directly taken from our account without permission and am going to get a lawyer to solve these issues because direct tv will not issue our money back and supervisors are non existant at there call center so we are sueing. anyone that would like to help out is more then willing to email us at [email protected] or here i will be checking our emails so we can get together enough people so the attorneys will listen to the consumers plee about how bad and crooked direct tv is, thanks for your time. brandon and christi edwards

Unauthorized billing
I was a long time customer of Direct TV 4-6 years. About 2 years ago I had Direct TV installed at my mothers house for Christmas. Earlier this year, my mother took over the account and put it in their name and address. On 12/20/08 338.00 was withdrawn from my checking account unauthorized, and unlawfully, which as of today as so far resulted in 125.00 in overdraft/courtesy pay fees from my bank as my paid bills are rolling in with no funds in the account.

When I called today to find out what was going on, they said that my mother owed them money, and that they were allowed to withdraw that amount from me as they had my old account information on file. I told them I did not even have an account anymore, and it was in my mothers name and address, they said they should have never changed it over to her and that they, (thank goodness I used print screen and have the account information before the changed it) they had neglected to cancel my account, they then today put it back in my name!! I was not even given over to a supervisor upon request. After a google search I found out that this is happening to a lot of people, I am now seeking counsel and looking for any class action suit that may be out there. I am now out over $450.00 and climbing.

Authorized service for someone who cant speak english
I own a home. I had a korean woman, Ki, staying with me for a short amount of time who could barely speak English. Well, Ki decided she wanted TV and ordered Direct TV. Somehow, she signed a contract and when I get home I have a sattelite dish and Direct TV service.
I go to cancel the service... Well Direct TV waited 10 days to cancel and then they charge Ki (who is an American Citizen but barely able to speak English) a 400 cancellation fee.
So I call... they tell me Ki has authorization to get Direct Tv at my home. And even though Ki cannot speak English and does not own MY home nor is on MY mortgage, that she signed a valid contract.
So Direct TV installed a dish illegally at MY HOUSE, signed up service with a woman who CANNOT speak ENGLISH and now will not return the cancellation fee.
Way to go Direct TV. I am trying to get this on the local news. Hopefully, I will be successful.

DIRECT TV
all the reps are very rude. i call last friday gave my card info, ssc, and other info. the order was processed the tech was suppose to come out tuesday, noone showed up, and noone is trying to resolve the problems, plus a lot more
