Fraud and cheating
DIRECTV pulled bait and switch with their price, tricky installation and incompetent customer service. Directv is offering special deals for new customers. $29.99 for their choice packages etc..etc... Interested? I was... so I called and talked with a very nice customer service rep. named Molly. Who spent a good hour with me.

After giving her all the information of what I needed. 4 receivers for 4 rooms, 1 HD DVR for 1 TV. I specifically, asked her to give me a breakdown of what my charges will be (I wanted to make sure there were no hidden/extra fees).

She stated that the 1st 3 months, total payments will be $37.94/mo (this included the package, receivers, monthly DVR fees and credits, she was giving to me). Then after the 3 months promotion. The rate will be approx $54 for choice or if we wanted to keep the Choice xtra approx $59. Sounded like a good deal. So I set up appointment for installation, which was scheduled a week later.

Dec. 28th installation was done (so we thought). A couple of days later, we realized when our son wanted to play his playstation that it didn't work. Why????? Because the installer TOOK the HDMI cable from OUR playstation and attached it to the HD DVR component. He had no business taking a cable from one of our components to use for his. Aren't they suppose to have their own cable to set up their HD DVR? I wonder how many DIRECTV customers are out there, paying for HD without a proper HDMI cable? That's $9.99/month!!

Then...the installer asked about the DIRECTV protection plan of $5.99/month. I was surprised...another charge? I thought everything was taken care of when I first placed my order. He stated this will not be charged until our 3 month promotion is complete.

Well, I got my bill. TOTAL IS $80.24! and the protection plan will start after 30 days, not after 3 month promotion. Obviously, I contact them. Josh another customer agent who was very nice stated...'well it doesn't show your rebate that you will get in 6-8 weeks of $18, which would come out to $62.24/mo.' This was unacceptable to me, I feel that they played bait and switch. I am upset, they will not to honor the price that I signed up for and if I cancel, I will be charged early cancellation of $480.00!!! So they have no reason to make me happy. This is approx $90.00 difference in price for 3 months. In today's economy, $90 is a big difference.

It's the principle of the whole thing. I'll be sure to notify the editor of Seattle times and local news. To inform the public to beware of DIRECTV Practices.

I am writing today to express my great dissatisfaction with regards to your Customer Service and to request a full refund immediately of all fees charge to my account.

Our family has been a DirecTV customer for several years. I choose DirecTV because we have always enjoy your programming, on Dec 2007 I purchase PLUS HD DVR and paid $215.42 for the receiver at that time your representative told me I was purchasing the receiver.

In December 31, 2008, we were behind $50 plus dollars and your company decided to closed my account and charge my account $867.65 plus dollar.
I called Dec 31th and spoke to Veronica batch U8365 and she took care of the charges You were going to refund this charge immediately or the latest within 72hrs.

I am requesting an investigation on your company, I want you to go back and review all my conversation with your company from the original Dec 2007
1. Dec 31st 2007. I was SOLD a PLUS HD DVR receiver for $215.42. Which now according to my conversation of Dec 31st it is not the same information.
2. Dec 31st I was going to be refunded $867.65 immediate and today is January 5, 2009, and no money has been refunded.
3. I am requesting you to review Customer Service Batch Y4421, my conversation with her on January 5, 2009
She should not be in Customer Service Dept (HER I DON’T CARE ATTITUDE) is very clear and her refusal to help in incredible.


Today is January 5, 2009 at 4:14pm and my checking account is overdrawn over $600 because of Direct TV, I have several NSF charges because of you.

I called around 2:30pm spoke to a Customer Service Rep batch number Y4421 she was rude, unprofessional and short temper. The first time she put me on hold for about twenty minutes, Her only response was that the refund had to go to finance for review and I was going to get a check or money was going to be refunded to my account within 30 days.

I explain to her my conversation with your company on Dec 31st; and she did not care, her response was a broken record money will be send back after 30 days after finance review it.
I asked for her name she refuse, only told me her batch number. She continue to say I was misinformed and no refunds were going to be issue less than 30 days.

I asked her to check with her supervisor, I waiting another 10 minutes. She came back with the same answer, I requested to speak with her Supervisor this rep refuse to put me through her supervisor. Her response was the Supervisor was busy in another line, and I was going to hear the same answer.

Again, I request twice to speak with her supervisor and waited over twenty minutes. She came back telling me her supervisor told her she was busy and the answer would be the same. At the time I asked for her supervisor name and batch she refused to give me her batch only gave me the name of Stacy.

I asked for Stacy’s Supervisor and waiting several minutes, she came back that Stacy
was available and was going to transfer me to her extension, she send me to
a voicemail that was full with no other way to leave a contact number or a message.
I have been on hold or trying to speak to someone for over an hour to be transfer to a full voicemail.

can't get half our channels
For several days now we have not been able to get half our channels. Including the local channels that we pay extra for. All we get is searching for sattelite!!! What is going on? Are we expected to pay for this?

box turned off illegily
on 1-3-09 i called direct tv to inquire about my bill the representative name ashanti employee number 427901290 took my call for some reason she started fumbling with boxes to see which ones were not activated and by mistake turned off my home box in my living room yes there is a past due amount on the bill which is due by the 16th of the month per direct tv bill i was sent i called back to have thme turn my box back on and to this day it is not back on i spoke with a somecall supervisor to explain the situation and i was informed they wewe sorry but there was nothing they could do. he stated he did not know what she was doing but it

overbilling false ad
I GOT AN OFFER IN THE MAIL TO RETURN TO DIRECT TV AGAIN. I ACCEPTED A PLAN AT THE RATE OF $34.99 A MONTH PLUS $4.99 FOR A SECOND RECEIVER AND A THIRD.

WHEN I GOT BILL THEY CHARGED ME REGULAR PRICE FOR FIRST MONTH AND TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT TIL NEXT MONTH.

I FELT THIS WAS WRONG BECAUSE I SHOULD HAVE PAID MY SIGNED FOR RATE ON DAY ONE OF THE INSTALATION. I SENT THEM MY ADJUSTED FIGURES AND I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A WAY OUT OF THEIR CONTRACT

unauthorized charges
I had service with direct tv. I called to cancel the service after my agreement was fulfilled. During my agreement term, I had several receivers blank out, and had to have them replaced through the insurance I had purchased through DTV. I also, went to Best buy and purchased/Leased 2 receivers a day prior to the cancellation of my services. They said that I had to return the 2 receivers that I just paid $160 for together. I said return my money and I will return the receivers, I did not pay $160 for a day. They refused. I canceled the service. I had used my mother's credit card to make a payment or 2 before and was unaware that they stored this info. To my surprise, my mom called me about a $600+ charge on her card; whew, I flipped. I called DTV and they explained that they will bill any credit/debit card used on the account. I told them that this was unauthorized and they needed to refund the money. I put in a dispute with the credit card company, and faxed dtv proof that this was my mom's cc not mine. The charges were reversed.

Poor Customer Servoce
Paying extra every month so that if service goes out they come as fix it. Out for a few days (can't find signal), and I checked all the stuff several times, as they say on their automated phone help. Got a "real' person (underpaid script reader) who had me go through all the same steps again, and no work still. I was uncomfortable as she had me check some outside connection on a box that said "warning." I reminded her that I do pay extra to have someone deal with the dangerous stuff. I politely asked for supervisor, and was on hold for 15+ minutes. supervisor said I would have to wait a week before service person could come out. I would be credited for the days I was without service. I would have to call back then. No option but to wait a week and see if they actually show up. My money says they won't... and that I also won't be credited. I am so tired of this game that all cable/satellite companies play. Does any one really offer any customer service anymore?

Won't Correct Install
Ordered Direct TV Choice XTRA pkg with HD/DVR, was on the road when ordered because I drive truck, could not be home to receive confirmation order to see if it was right. When it was installed, step-son signed, this was Dec 23, 2008 @ approx 11:00 AM, I got home for holidays @ 3:00PM that day, noticed no DVR, contacted Direct TV to tell them, only to find out that now, less then 6 hours later, I was considered an existing customer and would need to pay $199 for DVR, I explained that rep took order wrong, but because I never saw confirmation, and wasn't present when installed, that there was nothing that they would do, no matter who I talked to. Yet, if I chose to cancel due to their mistake, it would cost me over $400. They would rather lose a good new customer then to make this mistake right. NOW, I'm stuck with something I no longer want, but can't get rid of unless I pay there disconnect fee. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. And, all this because they wouldn't make their mistake right, even though I told them I couln't get to my mail to confirm.

unauthorized charges
I canceled my contract. I was moving out of state . They claim they suspended my contract for six months and becouse they had my credit card number after six months they startted charging my credit card without my authorization. They claim that is their policy and I can cancel again but it will cost me for a month and other cancelation charges.

Liars and Thieves
I got DIRECT TV in my apartment in November, 2006. I had it before I moved and I brought my boxes including my DVR to my new address. I had paid $400 for my DVR box. When it was not working, DIRECT TV replaced it but made me send my old one back. In November, 2007 I tried to get an HD satellite, since I own an HD TV.I knew that new service would extend my contract to 2 years from that date. When the worker came, he said the satellite would not fit on my patio. I returned whatever equopment DIRECT TV had supplied and asked that my contract go back to the November, 2008 expiration as they could not give me the service.

In November, 2008 I decided to get AT&T UVERSE. When I called DIRECT TV and cancelled, they said that I was un der contract until November, 20098 because of the HD service which I never got. I explained it to about 15 people who did not want to listen. Then I emailed DIRECT TV. On December 7th, they emailed me back saying they would waive the fee as it was not correct. They asked for BOTH boxes. I, like an idiot, esent them both thinking just forget about it. They can have the boxes and we'll be finished.

They did not waive the charges. Now they are back to saying I owe them the money which I do not. They have threatened to charge it directly to my card on file! They made a promise to waive it. One person saw it correctly. I have never heard of a big business that does not honor what their representatives say. I do not owe the money. I never got the service. Actually, I feel like they owe ME $400 for the box that was not rightfully theirs.

I want to sue them for all this aggravation and time. I am the sole support of my family and it has been a very rough year. I've been in the hospital and my nerves are frazzled. I am always one pay check away from being thrown in the street. DIRECT TV lies and robs us blind. I insist that this $130 is not due. I waited to have HD service until the original contract was up. Since I never changed the service, I never extended the contract.

I am in tears from them and came close to losing my job when they would not fix their error. How can they do this after they send me an email which includes the service reresentative's name and ID that this charge would be waived.

Don't be fooled. Get DISH Network, Cable or UVERSE. Do not get DIRECT TV or you will pay for it with your happiness, and with big bucks! I had them for 5 years but they don't care. This is Christmas and they are WORSE than the Grinch!!!
