UNFAIR
THER WAS SOME ONE POSING AS AN DIRECT TV SALES REP THAT TOLD ME THAT DIRECT WAS RUNNIG SPECIAL THAT U CAN GET SING UP WITH OUT A CREDIT CHECK THAT I HAD TO PAY $40 BUCKS UP FRONT AND FILL OUT A LIGIT DIRECT TV APP BUT AFTER A FEW DAYS AND NO CONTACT FROM THE SALES MAN OR DIRECTV I CONTACTED THEM THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD KNOW I DID ABOUT THIS SPECIAL NOW IM OUT OF $40 BUCKS THANKS ALOT DIRECT TV I WOULD NOT REC OMEND MY GRANDMOTHER TO THESE NASTY UNFAIR PRATICE THESE PEPOLE DO JUST DAMM RIGHR DISCUSSTING!!!

FLEECING OF AMERICA BY DIRECT TV BY LIES AND DECEPTION


I would like to bring to everyone’s attention as to how Direct TV is Fleecing their customers. If you are unfortunate to call a sales agent of Direct TV he/ she will give you a great story about how easy it is to sign up and end the contract and change programming without any problems. I was one of such unfortunate ones. I was told by the sale representative that you can end the contract anytime by just returning the equipment. I was also told that I can change the programming services anytime I want to. On hearing this I ordered their $64.99 package with the intention to cancel it by January and downgrade it to $29.99 by November.

The first bill came and on it I was first of all charged wrongly $100.23 in which I was charged $29.99 for NASCAR hot pass also. I never watch NASCAR; I don’t follow NASCAR and don’t even know a thing about NASCAR. Then on the side of the bill in small print I notice there is a 24 month contract which goes with the plan. I call Direct TV and after talking to a few people they take of the NASCAR but have still charged me and not given any refund and tell me and here is the SHOCKER they tell me it is my mistake.

I talk to them about the 24 month contract and the fact that the sales representative specifically told me that I can cancel at any time by just returning the equipment and get this I was told I can cancel as long as I KEEP PAYING them for 24 months. This comes to THOUSANDS of DOLLARS

To top it all it is now November and I wanted to downgrade the programming from $64.99 to $29.99 and I was told I can’t do that either as I have signed up for a Package NFL SUNDAY TICKET and as the season has started, get this; I have to KEEP PAYING them.

SO WHATEVER HAPPENS DIRECT TV HAS FOUND A WAY THAT YOU KEEP PAYING THEM. THIS IS HOW DIRECT TV HAS MADE SURE TO FLEECE AMERICANS OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY IN THIS TOUGH ECONOMY

Miss leading and deceptive ad advertising
Deceptive practices!!! The representative did not tell us that we had to submit for a rebate to make our payments $35.99 a month for 12 months. Then 2 days after we were hooked up we received another ad for the same thing for the price of $29.99 mo. I tried to read the fine prints with my glasses on with a magnifying glass to boot, and I still couldn't figure it all out. Six days later I told them to come get their equipment after receiving a bill for $60.00. I had quite a conversation with another representative, after which I had to cancel my credit card so they couldn't post any more transactions on it. Please, people, BEWARE!!! Plus they also added $5.99 mo. for a protection plan we did not sign for, but I am willing to bet if we have to use it, they won't pay. My experience thus far seems to give me that feeling. I wish I had listened to others and checked better. I WILL NEVER RECOMMMEND OR REFER ANOTHER PERSON TO DIRECT!!! Would be willing to join a lawsuit.

Billing and Customer Service
I'm cancelling my Directtv in December. I've had this service for 10 years or more and since the last time I've had billing problems they switched all of their customer service to the Phillipines. With everyone that's out of work in here in the States they send the jobs overseas. We're good enough to take money from but not to employ. The other problem with their customer service is that you get these squeeky females on the phone who speak in broken english and say that they're sorry over and over and over again till you wish you could reach through the phone and shake them. I'm done. I'm getting AT&T Uverse, not only do I not have to have a contract with them I'll be saving 100.00 a month, Direct TV can try to drum some business up in the Phillipines.

Double billing
When our equipment was returned after cancelling our service in Oct, 2008 -Direct TV 'engineer's' found un paid ppv's that had not been sent to their main receiver from 2007. We had equipment problems in 2008 and had to pay serveral hundred dollars of ppv's that had not been billed according to Direct TV. However, our monthly billing statements showed the movies we ordered on each statement. We settled and paid the account balance in full. When I called to dispute the additional equipment charges-they deducted the disputed amount from our checking account without our authorization. According to our bank, there is nothing we can do if they run the charge through as a debit.

Service Fee
First of all when you call Direct Tv you have to wait 20 minutes just to speak to someone then they transfer you to someone else and you wait again for them. My HD channels stopped working and they said I would have to pay a $49.99 service fee for someone to come out and fix it, or had a option of paying for a service package for an additional $5.99 a month on my bill. I feel this is absurd I pay for a service monthly that should include fixing any problems that occur. My cable company never charged to fix any problems I will return to them when my contract is up to avoid the outrageous early cancellation fees they also charge.

owe me a check
I went through Verizon who was parenting w/ direct tv.I cancelled out w/ direct and they were suppose to reinburse me a check for $211.00 which in return I'm suppose to sent toverizon.I called direct and talked to Rachael who stated she had contacted the deptment to have me a check within 8 working days and to day is number 9.

Cancellation Fee
I am disputing charges with Direct TV regarding the cancellation fee I am being charged of $400.00 I was not advised of the charge to be in the amount assessed. I totally disagree with the final bill because of billing discrepancies regarding the so-called bundling with version resulting the need to sell the package over quality… The amount of the direct tv on verizon statement was much higher for one. At the same time of being billed on phone bill, also received bill from direct. Reflecting a dif. Amount owed. There was no explanation provided on why the difference on either end. I returned all the equipment and the only honest response I received from Direct is that Yes we received the equipment . I have not received anything in writing or verbally stating my early cancellation is $400.00 I was provided with this address to dispute the bill. Has anyone else received a $400.00 cancellation fee from Direct TV. They turned me over to an collection agency. I have also submitted a complaint to my states bureau of consumer protection. This is still pending. Hopefully there is an consumer rights attorney outhere some where that would be interested in these deceptive charges... I

Overcharged
About six months ago, I got a Direct TV satellite and two receivers for my house. The service worked well enough and the bill was reasonable until I found that the cable service in my area had better HD support. So yesterday, I call up Direct TV to cancel. No problem says the rep, you'll just have to pay a cancellation fee of $420.00. I still have my initial contract that I signed for Direct TV that has no mention whatsoever of any kind of cancellation fee. The rep told me that the fee was a result of 'any fees or changes therein that may occur'. Terribly vague if you ask me and $420.00 is too much of a cost to eat. Buyer beware.

Lack of discouts for non-new customers
I have had Direct TV since July 208. I lost my job in October 2008. I want to try and keep Direct TV, as I am diligently looking for work, but Direct TV does not care. The representatives there, when I call, and explain my situation, state that I am not eligible for more that a $5.00 discount. The ads that come almost daily are very misleading, as the ads look good, but yet state 'for new customers only'. I have paid all my bills, I have tried to get a lowere rate on my account (for at least six months 0, until I can get on my feet again, but I am always told no. The new customers are getting a rate of $29.99 for the exact same line-up that I have and I have asked and been told no, even though I only asked for a few months, due to my financial hardship. Can anything be done about this. I am the trpe of person, and I am sure others that need this now.
