FIRST OF ALL I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS I BEEN CHARGED SEVERAL TIMES FOR SERVICES I DID NOT ORDER OR WANT. ONE MONTH I WAS CHARGED MY REGULAR BILL TIMES 3 . IVE HAD CHANNELS ADDED AND TAKEN AWAY WITHOUT MY CONSENT. THE NEW ONE IS THAT I NOTICED I WAS BEING CHARGED FOR DVR SERVICE AND ITS ALREADY INCLUDED IN MY PACKAGE. CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME I WAS RIGHT OF COURSE AND SAID THEY WOULD CREDIT ME $35.00 SO I GO TO RECORD SOMETHING ON MY DVR IT DOSENT WORK I CALL AND GET TOLD THAT IT WAS THERE MISTAKE AND THE $35.00 WAS NEVER DEDUCTED FROM MY ACCOUNT THEN I GET TOLD THAT I HAVE A BALANCE OF $28.00 AND THAT THEY CANT TURN MY DVR BACK ON UNTIL I PAY IT AND MY DUE DATE ISNT UNTIL 8/15/08 SO NOW I DONT HAVE MY COMPLETE PACKAGE BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE. YOUR COMPANY SAYS THAT YOUR BETTER THAN DISH NETWORK AND YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GOOD THATS A LIE ALL THEY DO IS TELL YOU WHAT THEY AND EVER TIME THEY MAKE A MISTAKE ITS ALWAYS SORRY FOR YOUR INCONVIENENCE ITS NEVER ANYTHING FREE OR CREDIT TO YOUR BILL I THINK AFTER SO MANT MISTAKES THOSE KINDS OF THINGS SHOULD BE OFFERED.IF I DONT RECIEVE SOMETHING FOR ALL THE PROBLEMS I WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE TO CANCEL MY CONTRACT WITH OUT ANY CHARGES FO BREAKING MY CONTRACT WHICH ENDS ON 6/09 I DONOT AND WILL NOT DEAL WITH THIS TYPE OF INCOMPETENCE FOR ANOTHER YEAR.I ALSO PAY OVER $100.00 A MONTH FOR SERVICES THAT IT SEEMS YOU HAVE CHEAPER PRICES FOR THE SAME CHANNELS I HAVE I FEEL IM BEING RIPED OFF AND IM PRETTY SURE I CAN GET THE CHANNELS I WANT FROM DISH NETWORK THATS NOT WHAT I WANT BUT I WONT PUT UP WITH THIS IM SURE SOMEONE WANTS MY $100.00 AMONTH AND APPARENTLY DIRECTV DOSENT! Billing
I have had nothing but trouble from billing from the day of service till the day of termination. I had the date marked on the calender to terminate service, but they had no record of that call. Instead they had a call dated on the 29, (my second call after receiving a bill) resulting in a 16 dollar charge for 9 days of service. After calling customer and asking for nothing more than a 0 ballence, they said that it was a viable charge and could not do that. I know thay are a big company, and my account will not make a lot of difference in their ledger, but do n0t under any circumstances go with DirectTV for your sat. service. You will pay.

Under handed billing
My apartment had Direct TV all ready installed when I moved in. I was informed this was a month to month contract and NO long term commitment was required. I was then asked if I wanted to upgrade packages and again was told no long term commitment was required... so I got it. I moved shortly thereafter and tried to cancel my service. They said I was then on a 2 year commitment. But, I was to return the box, but keep the antenna. They produced a piece of paperwork showing where I had agreed to a 2 year deal. Funny thing, it was not my signature. I informed them of this and their reply was that maybe one of my friends signed for it on my behalf. I have no friends there and no one had my permission to sign my name..Period. Then I was told I could protest in writing, which I did. Their response was they would turn me over to collection and ruin my credit. Plus, my account was now closed and no further action could be done. What can I do fight these deceptive, fraudulent, crooks?

refund due
I SWITCHED MY SATELITE COMPANY IN APRIL, 2008.I HAVE A BALANCED OWED TO ME OF $58.66.THEY AGREE THEY OWE ME THE MONEY AND SEND ME A BILL SHOWING THAT I HAVE THE MONEY OWED I CALL EVERY MONTH AND THEY TELL ME THEY WILL SEND THE CHECK AFTER 4TO 6 WEEK WAIT.IT HAS BEEN 4 MONTHS STILL NO REFUND.

Unauthorized debit from direct tv account
On July 26, 2008 there was an unauthorized debit taken from my checking account in the amount of $591.73. I have tried to resolve this with Direct TV by faxing my statement information showing the debit. It has caused 5 insufficient funds $25.00 each totaling $125.00 to be taken from my account because of their error. I am reporting this to the Better Business Bureau President Charles I. Underhill. I did inform Direct TV I will not be making any payments on my account until this error is resolved.

Leased Equipment???
Upon canceling their service, I was told two of the decoder boxes (That I had bought and installed myself) were actually leased equipment that belonged to Direct TV and I would have to return them to the company. Nothing about reimbursing me for my out of pocket cost. No guarantee on the defective equipment that they originally gave me. I have a lot of other bitches about this company and most of them have already been posted on this board and many others. I find I am not alone in hating Direct TV

These people really stink. I can't believe I stayed with them for so many years. Now have AT&T UVerse service and so far am very pleased.

Response on getting service back up
Direct TV SUCKS!!!When it comes to service. I have to wait a fucking week to get my service back up and running. This is a crock of shit. Now, I have to take a fucking half day off of work just so the assholes can come to my house "At their fucking convience" to fix my direct TV. Direct TV should pay my salary for half the day that I'm getting docked to stay home to wait for their ass to fix my direct TV. Direct TV needs a class on customer service.

Early Termination Fee
I bought a new tv at Circuit City. I thought I would try Direct TV with my new tv, so I signed up for the HD service. When I got my tv home, I was so excited for the installation. But, I didn't receive my installation for 2 months after the purchase. They were oversold on the equipment. After 2 months of waiting, they came to my house and installed the service. But, the HD service didn't work. I called the customer service many times, and told them about the problem. My service wasn't working and the kept sending me bills in the mean time. They bill was for much more money than I agreed upon. I called over, and over, and over again. Having the same conversation, as if for the first time with the customer service agent. There was no record of my service not working, or previous calls that I had made. I estimate I spend over 5 hours on the phone. And, it took an additional 2 months to resolve my service issues. Finally, it worked! But, at that point I had to move to another apartment unexpectedly. Because of the hassle with Direct TV, I decided to not re-install the service in my new apartment. I told the service rep. that I wasn't interested in the Direct TV service due to poor customer service. I paid my bill in full. But, the rep wanted me to pay $200.00 early termination fee. I told him "NO" and gave extensive reasons why I was not satisfied and very frustrated with Direct TV's TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. He wouldn't budge on the early termination fee. I didn't pay it! But, the collection agency got ahold of me and extorted it out of me. "WE ARE GOING TO PUT THIS ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT AS AN UNPAID BILL, THIS WILL NOT REFLECT AS A EARLY TERMINATION FEE." "YOU MUST PAY, OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCE TO YOUR CREDIT REPORT!"

I HATE DIRECT TV!!!

bad service practices
last may I added hd to my service.now keep in mind I had hd with them already with my store bought and owned recievers ...they said they moved the satelites and added some stuff so all my other 300.00 recievers was useless.and to continue I would have to buy not lease a new dvr reciever..another 300 bucks..the installer came out and said he didnt have a place to mount the new dish that was solid, and I said its a house the most solid thing around, , he just said he couldnt do it..so I said fine, I called and tolled his supervisor and he sent out another installer .who said '' we can put a pole here and mount it...instead the original installer even thow he heard the guy ...mounted it to a tree stump...probably still laughing!!
it worked for a year, and two weeks ago it fell over..I told Direct tv and they said there not allowed to mount them to trees ..well needless to say i tried to get it reinstalled, and it was set up for july 26 2008 ..between 12 and 4 pm..ofcoarse they called at 3:30 and said he would be late..i said I had to reschedule. well they called 5 minutes later and said that they would reschedule
tuesday, , then 30 minutes later dtv called and said they had to reschedul for them ..ok again i told them tuesday .then 30 minutes later someone left a message on my phone saying they came buy and couldnt get a clear line of sight, , I had all 5 satylites with signals in the 90's 0n the signal meters...and besides i was there when he so called arived and I didnt see him at all..well this morning i called and cancelled I i expect to pay atleast 500 dollars for a service I couldnt get anyway...I think Enron was more fair and why do I have a new contract I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years...Just take my advice, , Dont use direct Tv or anyone who says contract...

Usless service
Aprox. a month and a half ago my direct tv receiver died and I had them send me a new one. On 7/20/08 my direct tv receiver stopped working again and was displaying erreor code 761 (insert access card) after calling direct tv and going thru their troubleshooting process my system still did not work. They said they would send me an access card and it would arrive no later than 7/23/08. It did not arrive by then. Between the 23rd and the 26th of July myself and my wife called to find out where our card was. We were told that it was sent, that it wasn't sent, that direct tv had no cards and that it was the card manufacturers fault. When I got home from work on the 25th my wife was on the phone with them trying to find out where our card was. When she got understandably upset with them the rep told her she was crazy. When she asked to speak to a supervisor they put her on hold for over an hour until she finally got frustrated and hung up. I suspected that the card was not the problem but that the machine itself was the problem. I told them so on the 26th and asked them since they still had not sent me my card to just send me a new system and card. They of course refused. Today, the 29th, I finally got the card. Did it work? Of course not, after having them walk me through a bunch of useless stuff they determined that it was the dvr. Imagine that!. So now I have to wait until Friday until they send me a new machine. Whatever you do, I would advise you to purchase anyones tv service except Direct TV. I guarantee you you will be sorry.
