Contract
Direct TV and AT&T have been jerking us around for about 2 weeks now. Been a customer for about 18 years. Got tired of over paying they said they'd make it right. Bottem line they sold me a bundle for TV and AT&T high speed internet. They installed the Satellite on Feb. 16th I told the installer I would not honor a two year contract if they did not do everything their suppose to. He said that was up to me but I only had 24 hours to cancel. Four hours later called them up with a problem already and let them know then I did not except the agreement pull it out if they had to, or no contract. Well its Feb. 21st still have no internet thanks to AT&T, which it a whole nother complaint. As of today direct TV says they don't bundle internet with AT&T. Of coarse now direct TV says I am locked into a two year contract which if I break their going to charge me for boxes and install. When they set this all up there wanted a credit card for a one time charge of 10.00, which was ok but I check my online account alittle while ago and they have my card on file. I did not authorize this and when I ask them to remove it they refused. Been off work with surgery so I bet I've spent at least 20 hours or more on the phone in the last 2 weeks. Between direct TV and AT&T their selling bundles of services together but one does'nt know what the other is doing. What attorney do you call?

Addition of package not ordered
My bill has been the same since I received a call in September from an outsourced telemarkerter for Direct TV. I delclined the offer as I am unemployed and DONOT want any additional charges that I cannot pay for. In February our bill came and it was $68. more and then when we called their customer service we got inadequate and unprofessional service. Their agents do not care what their company has done or any part of the association has done and they are trained to tell you flat out they don't beleive you {so in other words you are lying}, and they refuse to remove any charges even though they have absolutely no proof of the call and whether you actually used this product or not. It is the most riduclous thing I have ever experienced and they are the most unprofessional and dirty company. I am choosing to move and can only hope this experience has taught me to be more aware somehow of the deceit that lies from these deceitful, money hungry people.

Scam
Direct Tv Watch out if you cancel service! Internet
I had Direct TV satellite service for almost 10 years. I cancelled service for a less-expensive tv service on March 17th. When I cancelled, the cus.service agent advised me of a $100 cancellation fee (which was fine because my new tv provider was giving me that $ to switch to them). I had a $12 credit on my direct tv account so the cancellation fee charged to my credit card was $88. This is not the end of the story.
Over a week later, I recieved the fedex box and shipping label so that I could return to them an HD reciever. No problem yet. I put the unit into its box and dropped it at a Fedex location. April 8th I recieved an email from directv saying that my account was past due. I called directv to ask what the late fee charge was. They told me that I hadn't returned the HD reciever. I quickly logged onto fedex.com and advised the customer service agent that fedex.com had a signature confirming receipt on April 6th. (signature from a J.Yohe). She thanked me, told me that it may take a few days once recieved in the warehouse for the records to reflect that I had returned my HD reciever. Fast forward to April 30 when I recieved a text from my bank that my credit/debit account had been overdrawn. Overdrawn? I logged onto my bank website to find out that directv had charged me 267.51. When I called directv, they told me that charge was for the equipment that they hadnt recieved but did see that they HAD already recieved it on April 26th. So why would they go ahead and charge my account on April 30 if they had the equipment already? The customer service person would not answer that question. They would have to do an investigation before they could refund my money and it would take 3-5 days.
Over a week later, I called back since there was still no credit. My problem had been turned over to "escalations" and now it would take a few more days to get my account credited. The key here is that they meant my "directv account", not my credit card account. Once my directv account is credited (remember i dont use directv anymore so having a $267.51 credit on my account does me NO GOOD), it takes 6-8 weeks 6 TO 8 WEEKS!!! for them to actually refund any money. They would not admit any mistakes at all and refused to give my money back immediately because that wouldn't be following "procedure". Oh, but I guess it is procedure to charge somoeone a load of money for equipment that is sitting in their warehouse already.
The worst thing about this whole situation is even if you catch their mistake, they will not correct it right away. They are quick to charge you, but are not quick to give the money back. They will hold your money for 2 months (even when it is clearly their fault). Does directv pay interest on that money?? yeah right.
In the end, I have filed a complaint with my bank for a fraudulent charge. My bank gave me my money back right away and they will go after directv for it. I have also changed my credit card number so directv can longer make any more whimsicle charges.

False advertising
I have had Direct TV for several years and only because there is no other TV service in my remote area. I have had multiple billing errors with this company. I was offered free premium channels and then was charged for them. I was told I would be credited back but must pay that bill or they would send it to collections. I then did not receive a credit for 8 weeks which is their policy. I was promised a free movie and then was told I would get in the mail a certificate in 3 months. I relocated and was told Direct TV had no service in my area and that it the wait would be months. They did find another contract worker in a month to set up the system and I was told that I would get that month free. I was billed for it and when I refused to pay, they threatened collections. I have been told multiple times that a manager would return my call and none ever did. I also have slow internet in my remote area and cannot access their website due to their highly graphical site so I must order movies by phone and am charged an additional fee even though it is automated! Do not get service from Direct TV if there are other options. I would recommend this company to no one.

Unauthorized charge to my bank accout
I cancelled my Direct TV service in January. I paid my final statement and sent my receiver's back, they got them and everything was fine. Out of the blue without my knowledge they charged my bank account $107. When I called they told me that charge was from movies that were downloaded 8 years ago in 2002. They said they scanned my access card and the movies were on it so I am responsible for the charges. Come on, 8 years, really.

Bait & Switch
This company is a poor excuse in the country. I signed up for Direct TV in Sept 2010 and within 4 days a sales woman called and convinced my wife about a special deal. She did not tell her that you can't go back to the same package when deal is done. My bill just went up $35.00. I asked how much to get out of Direct TV and they tell me $380.00. Holy cow!

They steal from your checking account
Let's say your bill is $76 per month, and you pay your bill on time every month, never late. But a customer service rep thinks that they deserve more money from your account, they just take it without asking. When you challenge this as an unauthorized charge, they then refer you to the convuluted, misrepresentative, one sided contract that you signed. So all of the customer service reps at Direct TV have total access to your checking account and can take whatever they want out of your account without asking for whatever reason. They can steal and the Federal Communications Commission does nothing.

Scam
When we signed, we were promised at better deal. What we got was a bigger bill. Customer Service accused us of ordering the NFL Program, which we never even recieved. When they told me what channel it was on, we found we didn't even get the channel! yet it was thier word against ours, and even when we showed them we didn't get channel, they would no reimburse us. they were so rude, we canceled, then were fined over $700.0 for it. No justice, we were scammed, and forced to pay or risk bad credit. Never again.

Destruction of property while on service call
To: Whom it may concern
From: Luke
My family has had Direct TV for many years without any major problems, but a week ago I called them because our televisions had been receiving weak or no signals. The representative I talked to gave me a hard time saying that I should have called as soon as we started having the problem. I explained to her that we thought it was a weather problem, but even when the weather was good, we weren't getting good reception. She finally agree'd to send a technician to see what the problem was and also agreed to give us 3 days of free programing. The technician fixed the problem, but while he was here, he broke our rain gutter and it's clamps. It snow the day after and when it melted, the rain poured into our basement. All of our rain gutters are directed away from the house, but when he broke the one nearest the satelite dish, he didn't tell us he had broke it. What can we do about this injustice? Help!
