Refused to correct problem they made
Let me just say to anyone thinking of getting direct tv, make sure they are giving you what you want the first time they install because if not you will end up paying for their mistakes, my order was not what i wanted but the installer procceded with the order so when i called to get what i wanted they pretty much said sorry about your luck and that will be about $200 to get it, customer service is terrible and i have never had a company tell me that because of their mistake i will be the one who pays for it and tell me that theres nothing more they can do for me.

Horrible Service & Reception
I had Direct TV for 2 years with constant problems with bad converter boxes, lousy reception in cloudy weather and HD channels that never worked. SO when my contract was up they informed my of the lovely increase in rate at which point I chose to cancel. They convinced us to go month to month offering the basic family package at $45. 1/3 of the channels and my first bill arrived at $95!!! $15 less than my previous package for next to no channels!! Called to ask wtf and got a run around about nobody ever told us it would be $45, we didn't get discounted correctly, blah, blah blah. Next bill comes $99!!! At this point I canceled which took 2 hours and demanded my balance returned for the full month I didn't use...no dice. I returned the boxes and on my final CREDIT invoice I was charged $39 for a ppv from 2008!!! THAT THEY CANCELED 10 MINUTES INTO THE PROGRAM BECAUSE I ORDERED IT THROUGH THE BOX WITHOUT A PHONE!! I CALLED TO ASK WHAT HAPPENED AND THE IDIOT TOLD ME I COULDN'T HAVE POSSIBLY SEEN THE PROGRAM BECUASE IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT WITHOUT A PHONE LINE. So I imagined the first quarter of the game I guess. Either way I was not to be charged according to him because I never ordered it...which I did but whatever. So 2 years later, after I cancel they charge me for something I never watched. DIRECT TV SUCKS. Got my in laws to switch to Dish and DIrect gave them hell trying to cancel. Telling them Dish is terrible and they'd hate it. NO DIRECT TV IS TERRIBLE IN EVERY WAY AND THANKS TO THAT SLAP IN THE FACE BOGUS CHARGE THEY HAVE ENSURED I WILL NEVER EVER EVEN REMOTELY CONSIDER RETURNING AND WILL NOW ACTIVELY COMPLAIN ON EVERY FORUM POSSIBLE. STAY AWAY FORM THESE CROOKS.

Unauthorized charges and Serveic Contract
I received a call from Direct TV last year stating that I could receive their Premium channels on a 5 month trial basis for $5.00 extra a month(added to my bill). I called well BEFORE the 5 months were up to cancel. My next bill had a partial charge of $74.00 for these channels, also NFL Sunday ticket was added to my account! I DID NOT authorize or ask for this!! When I realized what was going on and called thm I was told" you can't remove NFL Sunday ticket until the season is over". WHAT??? I then said I wanted to cancel my Direct TV all together and was then told I would have to pay $20.00 a month for every month I cancelled early! WHAT??? I have been a Direct TV subscriber for 4 years, but because @ Direct TV's request( they called relentlessly every day for 2-3 weeks) they wanted to "upgrade my receivers". This "had to be done" they said. It was their doing not something I asked for or needed! Now, because of what THEY did, I am "locked "in til 2012! This is complete and absolute BS! Scam, Fraud Unethical. Illegal!! I am contacting the PA STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE and filing a complaint!

service and billing
Direct TV has the worst billing and customer service in the world. I cancelled service last month after discussing my bill. I was told on two occasions that I owed nothing on my contract. Here we are fighting with them for a week or so about the $320 contract charge. It took at least 5 calls to the local idiots(customer service) and two to supervisors in billing to clear up that charge. Now they are robo billing my debit card for another month automatically. I disenrolled in early November. After more repeated calls (4) they claim the day I called Monday they will finally reverse the unauthorized monthly bill (for december, I had no service since Nov 13th) I called them for the same
problem on Nov 19th. So they sat on the refund for 10 days hoping I would go away or forget the $117 debit they took unauthorized. Today I still don't have my money back.
IF YOU THINK FOR ONE MOMENT I WOULD EVER EVER EVER GO BACK TO THESE IDIOTS YOUR CRAZIER THAN THEM...GOOD BY DIRECT TV. NOW KNOW AS DIRECT DEBIT MONSTERS. THEY ARE IDIOTS WITHOUT A CLUE ON CUSTOMER SERVICE. They were gouging me on the monthly bill also, that is why I quit them.

Poor Customer Service
I have to wonder if The CEO of direct TV even reads these messages. If he does, then maybe he would do something about the poor service and wasting peoples time. I got Direct TV at my home and after several phone calls, a lot of my time wasted by no show technicians, we finally got it installed.
Now I've spent a week trying to get a quote on my 80 units condo complex in Kailua-Kona Hawaii and a return phone call, but to no avail. I've also been trying for over a month to get my commercial business in Waipahu Hawaii set up, but nothing. They gave me numbers that are disconnected, supervisors who are never available and just plain waste your time.
Customer Service? I've been apologized to a thousand times, but if it is not on the script, and you are in Hawaii, good luck!

Early Cancellation Charge
SURELY, there has to be a law firm out there that is willing to initiate a class-action lawsuit again this outrageously disgusting company! After reading pages and pages of consumer complaints, I have to sound off as well. I cancelled my one- year contract with Direct TV four days before my contract expired because one of their obnoxious customer service reps told me that it was the only day they could terminate my service (?). I was told there would be a $60.00 early cancellation fee. I argued that they were calling the shots on their pre-determined termination date. After going round and round (and, of course, getting nowhere), I said fine. Comcast was coming the following week.
I then rec'd my final bill from Direct TV which showed I only owed $15. Naturally, I thought "this is great" - no cancellation fee. Needless to say, I paid the $15 final bill the same day. I even received a final statement from Direct TV which showed a -0- balance. Now, here's the catch! Since Direct TV is the only company that Qwest does business with for a bundled price, I was billed the $60.00 fee on my Qwest statement. I have submitted copies of the final Direct TV statement (showing the -0- balance) to Qwest when I refuted the $60 charge. Gee, that was March, 2010 and I'm STILL waiting for my $60 refund from Qwest. This practice REALLY needs to stop. Hope there are some attorneys out there reading the Complaints Board!

Hidden charges
I ordered and installed Direct Tv about 5 months ago. At the time, I had the opprotunity to install up to 4 rooms. I did only 2 rooms. I called to get a 3rd room installed and was told I would be charge as a "new customer" and the extra install would cost over $100.00 and add extra on to my bill every month. At the time of my initial installation, I had told them that if my son where to move / come home, I would put service in his bedroom. They said nothing about extra charges at a later time. Well he will be home from college over the holidays and I wanted his bedroom to be as inviting as possible. However, not now, I can't afford the extra fees to put a receiver in his room. I should have been told this at the time that I ordered my initial hook up. I would have just done it then, FOR FREE. What a rip off!

unathorized withdraw
Company Direct TV went to my bank acct and took out an unathorized amount from my bank acct. Company stated they could because they have my information on file. That is absurb. A company should only take when it has been authorized by the person. Its like stealing.

Stealing money from customers
Direct TV is a big ripoff. I just paid them 180 dollars last month, they cut off my tv this month for payment of 286 dollars. Oh my gosh where are these bills coming from. My bill is due on 26 every month, plus they have me paying for NFL.I do not look at sports period. They owe me money, I have never allowed my bill to go two months. They make no sense in explaining this bill. I am cutoff and will stay off. Then they tell me bail out fee is 148 dollars and I have been with them for almost two years. They are a big rip off and I blame ATT because they have contract with them. So they are ripping of customers also. I am sick and tired of these companies doing it to paying companies.
