Illegal Charges to My Account
Direct TV has illegally charged my account almost $700 in cancellation fees because my credit card was used last on the account. The account is not even my account. I did a favor by helping a friend pay her bill. Direct TV indicated that by contract they can charge the last credit card on record. I never authorized them to deduct any fees other than the one time to help my friend. This is illegal. I have placed a complaint with the BBB. Direct TV has left my account negative and with no hopes of recovering this money any time soon. If at all they decide to credit my account after they review my complaint, they have stated it will take 30 days for a credit to go through, if at all.
Direct TV does bad business. I don't understand how they are allowed to deduct from an account which they have not been authorized to pull funds from.

Customer Complaint
I called Verizon to sign up for their package that included home phone, internet and Direct TV. I was not sure about signing up for Direct TV as I had heard mixed reviews about them so I called to get more details on the package and was informed I has30 days to call to cancel my Verizon services and 14 days to cancel my Direct TV services. So I signed up, thinking if I did not like it I could always switch back to Comcast (who were a more expensive but has always been reliable). After a few days with Direct TV I noticed they cable would go out everytime it was windy outside. So about 4 or 5 days after our satillite was installed I called to cancel, stating our problems with their service. I was told I would have to pay a $450 cancellation fee or they could send someone out to adjust our satillite for a small fee! What? I was so furious and confused. After all I was told I had 14 days to cancel at no charge and it had only been 4 day. Why are they charging me to have someone come out to adjust a satillite that was installed 4 days prior?
In the end I am opting to pay the $450 to cancel my services. I am so furious with this company it is not worth dealing with them for the next 2 yrs. I strongly urge anyone considering them to think twice.

No customer servrice
I was set to receive my direct tv on saturday when the technician arrived and said he could not install due to the weather and lack of proper ladder. no problem. On day two they arrived and said that they could not install due to lack of proper ladder and cables. Customer service relayed this to the technician supervisor who would be contacting me within the hour to hopefully, install our cable. An hour goes by and no phone call from the supervisor. I then called direct tv again and they assured me that a supervisor would be contacting me to take care of the issue. Again, no phone call. It is quite pathetic how direct tv sub-contracts all of their installations instead of taking control of their own installations. I was excited to become a direct tv customer but now I will never be a customer due to lack of service. I will now place an order with verizon fios who actually have verizon people do their installations. As for the direct tv installation supervisor for the far rockaway, ny area, man up or enjoy unemployment because you should be fired for the lack of any service. Anyway, I hate complaining but I have now become an advocate against direct tv. No one should have to deal with such a lousy television company. All the best on your downward spiral out of the game. Rest in peace direct tv...

Poor Customer Service
Direct TV has the worst customer service I've ever experienced and it blows my mind!! We hate the service and want out of our 2 year contact. To do that it will cost $400!!! Seriously??!! So instead of having satisfied customers they would instead rather have their customers hate their service for 2 years and bad mouth the company for those 2 years! To top it off I find out that if you cancel your service or if your contact is up they don't recycle the dish. Just think of how many lazy people will just throw them in the trash to end up in the landfills! This company is so backass backwards!! I will do everything in my power to spread the word about how awful their customer service is and how bad their service sucks in general. It's not at all user friendly. You have to download a movie before watching it, one you pay $5.99 for!! What? With Comcast all you had to do was click "order" and "play". If money was no object I would pay their $400, as ridiculous as it is, just to be free of them! If you're thinking about switching I hope this will keep you from wasting your time and money!!

I will have had Direct TV for 2 yrs the end of Dec, and plan on cancelling it at that time. I got the installation fine then according to their records, which I think is a LIE I have been having problems with the DVR, "Searching for Signal" every other day, months. I call only to be told how to correct the issue, and some times it work, most times it don't. So I called today AGAIN about the same problem and asked what could be done since I have been calling about the same issue the WHOLE time I have had the stupid service. The want to Charge me $49.95 for a technician to come out to correct the problem, which who has that laying around. OR they want me to get stuck in a year contract for a service plan that is $5.95 a month, a tech would come out one time and I have to keep the service for a year, and pay more then what the service call would cost, who has $72 to pay for something I won't need especially if I'm canceling in Jan. I was told if i got the service plan and I canceled say a few months later I would get charged a $10 disconnect fee for cancelling the service before the year was out. Direct TV is a TOTAL RIP OFF AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMENCED ME THEM TO MY WORSE ENEMY .. DO NOT GET HOOKED UP WITH THESE RIPOFF COMPANY!!!

Just saw blowgun/dart commercial during Bills/Kansas game. I guess we're not cool...shooting a person with a blowgun and stealing movies???? The internet claims this is a parody...good grief what messages are we sending our kids. Thumbs down Direct TV!!!

consecutive double billings
Direct TV is a horrible company - they have consecutively double billed me in addition when I send my monthly amount of 45.00 in for payment they add $100.00 therefore charging me $145.00. They do not cooperate, assist nor do they apologize for this double billing. My bank is assisting me by trying to cancel the checks. Unfortunately, Direct TV is very fast and always gets the money out quick. They rip people off.

No Customer Service
I recently purchasd a new hom and had new Directtv service put in. This wa in July 2010. I have had nothing but probems with the sevice. I have had to cll to haveatech come out and do NOTHING, stating thyere ot going to do it. I toldthem that I thought that the dish was notin a good location, nothing again. I call they give me a 2weel window for this aid tech to come out and again nothing!!! I have talked to supervisor after supervisorwith NO customer service at all. On this day.. I have people coming to my new home to watch a much waitd for College Football game.. with no tv servce. All get is BS, and candid answers ..cant do thi, , can't do that etc... I currently havepeople in my home that have traveled out of town for this event in my "NEW" home.. No TV!!! The earliest that they can have a techout is Monday!!! Not acceptable inmy world. Having so many prolems with No service I am looking into changing my sattalite company. There is too many out therethat DO wish for my business.

Unauthorized Bank Transaction
I ordered a new DVR which I was charged $99.00 for and 4 days after using the DVR the back plug came out. I called Direct TV and asked if a technician could come out and just exchange the unit for me - of course not - I was advised that I would have to wait for a new one to arrive and send the defective one back. I failed to return the unit in the time they allow so a $274.00 charge was deducted from my bank account. I called and was advised that as soon the defective equipment is received they would be able to reverse the charge back into my account. On Oct.19th I called and was advised that the equipment had been received and it would take a couple of days for my charge to be reversed. On Oct 23rd I was shocked that $153.00 was taken OUT of my bank account for my current monthly charge but the $274.00 had NOT been put back into my account. I called and was assured by a supervisor that my account would have the $274.00 back in the account no later than Oct. 28th. In the mean time I am having to call companies and have them hold checks to avoid NSF charges. I received a call from the supervisor like he promised and was advised the charge had been reversed. On Oct 29th I checked my bank account and the charge didn't show up. I called and was advised by a supervisor that #1 I couldn't talk to Mark #2 Now my account has credit on it and it would take up to 30 days for a refund to be issued #3 The reason that the charge wasn't put back into my bank account was because I cancelled the credit card on file because of their irresponsiblity #4 There was no way that they could take my credit card information and reverse the charge AND #5 There are no locations that I could go get my refund. I am so irrate and will be contacting my bank to dispute the charges. Sooooooo dissappointed

Billing, Customer Service, Do not sign up for this !
Do not sign up for this service. I like many of the others was given a price for monthly service and when the first billing came it was twice what I was quoted. When you call to get this corrected they try to sell you what you didn't want in the first place. Then when you try to cancel the charge you all these additional fees. This is a company you should stay away from.
