Was told one thing on the phone, bill said different, no-one cared.
Called up Direct TV to resolve a complaint. Had hours of conversation with customer service, finally received a resolution of my complaint from a supervisor, the company has no record of any of it. Called up again, was told I did not have grounds for the complaint and that there was no record that I had complained previously. Easily the third time I have tried to resolve a problem with the company, went through all the usual steps, then after I was told the problem was resolved, it wasn't and they expected me to cough up the $$$$.

Disconnecting
Left to Ny sue to an family emergeny. Come to realize whiloe i was away thyey disconnected my service stating that they wanted 2 months of payment upfront on top of all that the customer service was terrible. They talk to the customers with and attitude and are extremely disrfespectful. I would not suggest anyone to use their service you are better off with a regular cable box. They should hire more with people that know how to speak to their customers like supervisors or managers.

I WHEN TO SAMS CLUB.AND DIRECT TV OFFER ME ONE SERVICE AND THEY LYE TO ME.THEY OFFER ME A REBATE SO I GOING PAY $41 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR THE FIRST FOUR MONTH AND WHEN THE FIRST BILL SHOW UP WAS $70 DOLLARS, TO MAKE SHORT THEY DO NOT GIVE WHAT THEY OFFER.I CALL EVERYBODY TO FOUND A PLACE TO RETURN THE DIGITAL BOXES AND NOBODY HELP ME AT ALL.THEY GIVE ME THE RUNNING AROUND.THEY TRY TO TAKE THE MONEY OUT MY BANK, WHAT THAT COMPANY DIRECT TV HAVE IS SCAM.

Billing
In June of this year I signed up to have Direct Tv installed. I explained when I ordered your service that I was on social security disability and received my check between the 7th and 13th of the month on the second Wednesday of each month. Your sales person told me to wait to the middle of July to have it installed so my payments would line up.
I had your service installed on the 18th of July. After which money was taken out on the 2nd of August. I called and complained and was told Septembers payment would be taken out on the 18Th. It wasn't, it was taken out about the second again.
I called and complained again and they said for me to cancel the automatic bill pay and write a check and then have the payments set up to be taken directly out of my account on the 18th of each month and lose my free HD for life because of canceling my automatic payments..
Come October 3rd my account was hit again this time causing me overdraft fees and now I am told the date can not be changed and that I was out of luck. I want to cancel my service but I am told I have to pay a 400 plus dollar early cancellation fee.
I did nothing wrong and I and my family are suffering because your company refuses to stand by their word and bill me as stated. I have spoken to at least fifteen people and no one will HELP us.
My only solution is to send back your equipment and put a stop pay on my account and go back to cable. I want you to know that when you treat people badly like this that it costs you thousands in revenue. I attend a church with hundreds of family's and when word gets around how we were treated then it will cost you. Whether or not you realize it. I could have gotten you customers but instead they will turn away from you and go else where. You will never see the early cancellation fee due to it being your fault I had to leave.
I thought my cable company were a bunch of crooks but you are way worse.

Fraudulent Representation
DirTV, is nothing more then a disingenuous, technically unsavory outfit, with people skills bordering close to illiteracy due in fact that, regardless what a Customer, says or complains about it never produces results. It's all about the "MONEY" and like most Big Corporations, they're experts at stealing it. How else can we explain those phantom "SERVICES" not subscribed to or "PROGRAMS" not elected and continue beyond your actual contract, even after explaining their unauthorized, you're still forced to pay. When electing that "DIRECT DEPOSIT' option promising us a complimentary Move Station for 3 Months, we definitely sold our soles because, they are now able to absorb your savings at their own discretion and passe while we, the consumers are at their mercy due to that $465, bolder hanging over our heads. This is the worse System, I've had the displeasure of attaching my TV to. Since day one I wanted to disconnect, hell with their threats of persecution. My own personal history has been mentioned here previously and I can empathize with DirTV, Customers. What I'd like to propose is a "REGISTER" that will "DOCUMENT" the "DISTRUST" and the "DISSERVICE" we're forced to endure. Once we overcome that $465, hammer they keep beating us with, in my opinion DirTV, will cease and desist applying their deplorable tactics. Consumers should unite and refuse to give in to Big Business any longer instead, we need to explore and exhaust all means necessary in order to discover a solution that will provide us the opportunity to prevail. Stop being disgruntled and being taken advantaged of, lets get together and stop the "ABUSE".

Bad install & Poor customer service
I regret not reading these reviews and others before deciding to switch from my cable company to this 4th rate company. Every time I watch TV I see their commercials touting the superior channels they offer. I quickly turn the channel til it is over. I had to upgrade when I realized I was not getting the Speed channel. I switched to save money now I am paying more than I was since my old basic cable service included the Speed channel. Within a week I received by mail an offer from Direct TV for the same service I had just upgraded to for half price for 12 months. They of course refused to oblige my request to receive this discount stating they were not obligated to offer it on a call in phone order. Now I am stuck for 4 years in a contract that will cost $400.00 to cancel early. If that was not enough I had to reinstall the satellite dish to a more secure location and all of the cable lines just came loose from the mounting pins. The splitter was also mounted to a broken piece of conduit sticking out of the ground with a plastic cable tie. My Direct TV experience is so low budget even their Weather Channel format does not compare to my old cable company.

unfair billing and terrible customer service
I signed up with Direct TV in January 2010 when I moved into the Globe apartments in San Jose, CA. They have a monopoly in that complex so I was nto able to use any other provider for cable. They mde me sign a 2 year contract which I was uncomfortable with as I did not know how long I would be there or if I would be happy with their service. They assured me that if I ever moved and I could not get Direct TV in the new place that that voids the contract. 6 months later my company moved me to NYC. I intended to keep the Direct TV service but I was not able to get it in my new apartment building. I contacted Direct TV the middle of June and it has been hell since then. Each time I speak with someone different who gives me different rules. I spoke with someone in June, a supervisor who said that he would waive the early termination fee as my situation of moving to a new place where I could not get service qualifies for a waiver. A few weeks later I receive a bill with the $380 early termination fee. I called Direct TV and spoke to someone else who said they had no notes about the supervisor and did not know who the supervisor was. They said they would not waive the fee but that I could contact the Billing dispute deparment by mail explaining my situation and they would decide. I wrote Billing Dispute a letter and mailed it on July 12th. I never received a response from them but then just received calls asking for the money. I spoke with someone at the beginning of August who was trying to collect the money and I explained to him that I wrote Billing Dispute and he said he had no notes of this. I explained my situation again but he said there was nothing he can do. So, they obviously disregarded my letter and did not care enough to take any notes on my past calls into supervisors or customer service. Direct TV customer service is horrible, they do not care about their clients. They tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone and then do not follow through. Then, they do not put notes in the system so that they don't have to honor what they said and the conversation can't be traced back. Their early termination guidelines need to be clear and fair. They are running a scam on consumers. I will never use them again!
Now I have Verizon Fios and the service is great, there is early termination, and the quality is better. Everytime I have called in regards to my service and bill they have been professional and great with their customer service.
Do not use Direct TV!

Charged me when I was unable to get their service
Direct TV has charged me the $260 early termination fee because I cannot get their service in my new apartment. The building owners will not allow any attachments to the building. It is an historic school house that has been turned into an artist's cooperative. A Direct TV technician came to my apartment to see if he could successfully install an antenna in the grounds outside of my apartment. He stated that this was not possible, so I would not be charged for the early termination fee. Direct TV billing has insisted that I must pay the early termination fee anyway and charged me for it. I am completely enraged by their position on this matter. Apparently, in the fine print, this is spelled out by the company.

deceptive business practice
I have had so many problems with this company from their dvr's breaking, even when the technician turned it in,
their customer service is horrble and they contridicte every word they say. They made me purchase a dvr /Hd and then said I had to return it when I cancelled with them because I could not take anymore of their decptive business practice. they put in a order show I never heard of, or I could not even get on the web to order it. Then I joined AT &T bundle package and they told me it would be 99.00 for all three tv . internet and phone. later I got a bill in saying I had to pay over a 100.00 for just directtv, and they charged me for HD when it was for free at the time. I had to deal with aT&T and direct tv. she promised to fix my bill and take off the HD charges and I never even signed any contracts with them nor did I know I was stuck with them as of June because they would not do the bundle package. every month the bill is wrong and their is something new. today they kept me on hold that my battery on my phone went dead . and then then he hung up on me when I asked to speak to a manager . they told me I had to enroll in the automatic express payment in order to qualify for the free HD. in which I was never told. after 2 hours the manger said I had the HD for free and he saw I was enrolled with the automatic payments. then he transferred me to another man to see if there was something they could do to commpasate me for their deceptive business practice and so many other contradictions. UNbeleivanle they did something to me alright!! He now told me that I could not get HD for life, when I was just told I could. He said In may he sent me a e-mail explaining the rules and contracts of joining direct tv.. that is a big joke becasue we signed up with at&T.. and they had the nerver to tell me that I could not get it after 3 hours on the phone and that their rep told me 4 months in a row she would take of the HD charges... They want to say>> Im sorry but in reality its not professional to
completely lie and say you will fix a problem and never do it. I did not even know about a reabte plan until one month ago, that is becasue I did not sign a contract . I just relied on the deal that was presented to me at the time on the telephone in June.. They are liars .. yep and I read about how they say you can purchase a dvr and then when you want to cancel they tel you that it was leased. they got all smartalike jerks and say it is on the contract. I said" what contract I purchased this from the president.. they said if you buy it at best buy it also says its a lease. I told them I did not purchase it at best buy!! I got it for 300.00 from the president because of all the things his workers were doing. they even
wanted me to use 3 remotes to turn on the tv, one to turn up the volume, and the other to change channels.
This stressed out everyone in the family!!! It is bad enough you have to find one remote. 2 weeks later a direct tv rep could not beleive they did that to us when they had a universal remote. so many bad things happened and I even was disgusted by one of the men telling me to get a roofie ( a dape rape drug) to help my bad back problems.
Their customer service is horrible and you have to watch your bills for all the hidden fees they put in their.
