bad decision. never go with verizon package
NEVER will I use Direct TV again. They are a total money grabbing rip off.
Bundeled with Verizon is the worst thing anyone could get. Verizon is great but Direct TV is not. We moved and broke our contract. Fine BUT... we had to pay over 200.00 back to them for nothing. I say nothing because we kept losing the picture every time it rained. Great for game day... Also an extra 80.00 to start up because they hadn't bundeled with Verizon yet... then it went to over 120.00 a month... (this is for a 99.00 bill) that was all we were supposed to pay.
So I payed the termination fee (soo I thought) but alas they kept calling and telling me I owed them another 76.00. This was not on the bill that I paid off immediately, and every time they called, they could not tell me why I owed it. I had to get in touch with Verizon. Well guess what??? I called Verizon and the supervisor there said that Direct TV had NO BUSINESS telling me to call them... The account was closed and paid in full. NOW they send me a bill for 76.00 with no explaination... Who is trying to rip off who?
OH, I will pay it, but they have lost a customer FOREVER. and if you read this and are thinking about Direct TV I hope you change your mind. This is not a made up complaint.

Bad service
I order Direct Tv from Sam's Club. The first installation was to be in two weeks between 8AM-Noon. At apx 11:30 AM, Direct TV called and said there installer had an emergency and couldn't install satellite.
We resceduled for the following week. They called and cancelled that appointment because they said they didn't have enough staff to install and asked to reschedule.
We rescheduled for two weeks away. Guess what...they cancelled. This time it was equipment problems. I told them forget it and refund my money.
It's a good indication about the service I would receive.

Unfair Early Cancellation Fee
Direct TV is a rip off. First they charge us 187.00 to upgrade to a HD box. Then, my husband lost his job and we needed to cancel our service with Direct TV so they added an early cancellation fee of 220.95. Direct TV stated when we upgraded to the HD box (which we paid 187.00 for) it automatically enrolled us into a 24 month contract and the fee for cancelling early is 200.95.
My husband is looking for a job and we don't have health insurance but Direct TV has charged our credit card 200.95. Direct TV is a rip--off. There service is a joke and the contracts are just plain laughable. Also, Direct TVs On-Demand is the worst. Please re-think another entertainment company and save your family some pain. I live in CT and we use Comcast now and they are teriffic.

advertising on TV
I find the TV commercial that Direct TV has showing during NFL football, when the woman puts dirty dish water into their drinks for watching their Direct TV sports. What are we teaching our kids that are watching the NFL sports games? Where is the "respect" in that commercial? What is the value of our national TV promoting in such an offensive kind of person that would put dish washing water in someone's drink. I would not buy Direct TV for the values they are promoting and representing in their commercials, as being cute and funny to promote such disrespect for another person.

I purchased direct tv sport package so we can watch our favorite team. On Sunday, 9/26, 10, we come to find out that the game in Tampa is not a sellout and we cannot watch this on our tv. We have purchased direct tv for the convenience of watching our favorite team weekly never being told of blackouts that would occur. Noone in this so called company know who or where the corporate office is located or even who the CEO is. What kind of company did I get involved with. I want an explanation and I want it know. I will be notifing authorities of your money making scheme and not producing the product your inform the public of. When we call to ask or place a compaint, we get a representativde who is never in the same state, they are everywhere and noone knows nothing nor do the CARE. They hang up on you, transfewre you to another department who even less is sympathetic, never a a straight answer, only want that almighty $$$$$$$$ and lots of it. They are in control and just laught at US the customer. I want free tv like it use to be in the olden days. Enough of this junk and to you know where you can go with your so called best tv and satellites.

false and misleading
this company misleads the customers about free hd tv for life and is false and does not inform people correctly about the referal program. i aclled in to refer my parent followed all instructions on the phone got my confermation numbers 2 months have passed and niether have received or credits, i called and keep getting operators who donot speak or understand english, their only ressponse is you do not qualify but will not or cannot explain why and i can not talk to a supervisor or representative from caaompany.

Disceptive Business Practices
I have paperless billing so I sometimes forget to review my bill each month. It gets automatically withdrawn from my checking account. This month I noticed my bill had gone up and when I called to inquire about it I was told that they automatically renewed the NFL Sunday ticket at $49.99 a month. I did not authorize this charge and I told them that. They said that since I had it last year that they had the right to renew it this season. The only reason I had it last year was because they bundled it with FREE HBO and Showtime for 6 months. I canceled it within the guidelines given to me and I thought that was that. I never even watched the NFL Sunday ticket.
Direct TV said that because it was on my bill last month it is to late to cancel and I have to keep paying for it the rest of the season. Again I explained that I did not authorize this to be added but they said that since I paid it last month and didn’t notice it that it is on the contract they can do this. I find this really hard to believe. I feel that this is highly disceptive and should be brought to other customer’s attention. I’m stuck in a contract with them until April 2011 and they told me I have no choice but to pay it. I wasn’t asking for a refund. I just wanted to cancel it so I don’t have to pay for it anymore. They said NO CAN DO! After my subscription is up and will be canceling their service and changing my service to DISH TV.

dropping GOD TV channel 365
I just find out you are dropping GOD TV channel 365, as of 10/1. Insead of dropping you should give them reward one year free and renewal lease. I changed from Comcast because of the GOD TV and advertised to every my friends to get Direct TV because of GOD TV.
I expect a good news from Direct TV, instead of incovienent to changing back to Comcast.
As like your name Direct. Hopely God direct you give us (GOD TV watcher) favor to prevent all that trouble to change.

installation & courtesy
After learning that the installer from Direct TV had lined my gutters with the cable wire, I contacted them. Yes, I told him that the satelite dish on top of the house was okay on the day it was installed, but never knew that it was lined in my gutters until getting my house painted.
I immediately reported this to Direcr TV. All I got was them telling me that I gave permission for the cable wire to be placed in my gutters by signing the paper- work. Paperwork was signed at the completion of the installation. I continued to explain what happened, but no one would listen to me. All I wanted was this to be corrected. I hung up the phone after telling them that I would just cancel my services with them. I spoke to three people at different times. The last person was suppose to be a supervisor. I was surprised that a business would not try to satisfy a customer when they were in the wrong. I really did like Direct TV but never again will I buy service from them.
