Customer Service
Direct TV is a horror show. It isn't so much Direct TV as the low bidder outsourced technicians that DTV sends to your home.

Our service has been out for the week. Saturday was the only time that we could cut out of our calendar. They still give 4 hour windows for service at this company. So we canceled our plans to sit home on Saturday morning. They were supposed to call an hour and a half ahead of the visit. That time came and went.

I call them back after 12. And am told "sorry" but the best we can do is Monday. After several phone calls I get a cancellation for this afternoon with a window between 12 and 4. I cancel the date I have with my wife...and sit in. For three hours...again no phone call. I call them and ask what is going on. They tell me that I called and canceled the appointment. Uggggg...

DTV doesn't really honor their contract to provide you TV service. But yet they will charge me $400+ if I want to cancel this. I didn't think that you could find customer service worse than Comcast. But wasting an entire day and more of sometime next week...I want to cancel.

Direct TV has been in formed of all this. They said I have two choices. Pay the $400 for cancelation and eat the cost of all the equipment. $280.

broken fence / lost dog

my name is charlene lathan. i ordered direct TV a couple of months ago. the technician went thru my back yard through a fence we have never used! we have two fences in the backyard. in order to gain entrance he had to forcefully enter thru that gate!! in 5 years we have never opened it. he broke the gate leaving it hanging from the hinges and never told me or my husband. also he used our ladder and left it in the middle of the yard. in each room where he installed a box he left the actual boxes in the floor. i called your claims department who assured me someone would come out in 2 day to repair my fence. after 5 days i called back and was to the same thing. finally i received a letter from your claims department asking for pictures and a estimate in which i provided 1 week later a field rep called to come see the damages. 3 days after that i got a call from claims stating that direct TV would not pay for my whole repair because some of the wood was rotten. my argument was that if the tech would have never forced his way thru a sealed fence it would not be off the hinges..now the est was for 900.00 and you want to settle for 450.00 way should i pay anything for a fence that was standing tall before you guys broke it down? not to mention i had a dog whom we had since she was 4 weeks now she is 8 who had to be tied to a tree to keep her in the yard. after 2 days she broke thru the rope and left our home and has yet to be found. direct TV has destroyed my home my kids and our life. what are you plans to rectify this situation? i don't have a problem calling 7 on your side to have this aired. i have heard that you don't respond for months to complaint if at all and now that i am a victim i see its true this has been going on for 2 months.one last thing one of my tv's dont even work its not connected and im still paying for service and waiting on repair. here are the photo's i sent in

Theft from checking account
I was just notified by my bank that Direct Tv stole 681.00 from my checking account. I have not had service with them for over two months due to the fact that they kept overcharging me 30.00 a month for their services and to add insult to injury they stole 681.00 out of my account and have basically bankrupted me financially. Anyine else having these problems should contact an attorney and we will start a class action suit against them for fraud.

Fraud
Direct TV used my SSN fraudulently to access my presonal information without my permission. Gave service to someone who stole my identity and then is totally uncooperative in finding out this fraud. When contacted by police, they never returned phone calls and were uncooperative with law enforcement. I sent police report numbers, notarized statetments, copies of my appraisors site showing I never lived where they are tryiing to collect but Direct TV does nothing to investigate, just continues to bully me, and even tho they are aware this is fraud, they sold this to a collection agency a second time, they are stealing for that agency too...a company with no moral leadership.

nfl ticket
We ordered nfl ticket and did not receive pat. and cin. game on 9/12/10. They said it was blacked out but we live in Woodburn, IN!!! Why would it be blacked out for us?? This is a rip off !!! We cannot cancel and get a refund if the game we want to watch is canceled. We called and talked to a manager and got no where fast with him.

worst customer service ever
Direct Tv has to have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Today I called to start service and let the lady know that I was not going to pay the $21.65 shipping charge and would not get service unless it was waived. She said that customer care would give me a $20 bill credit to take care of this fee however she would have to transfer me to the customer service center. After getting me signed up for service and again telling me i would receive a $20 bill credit she transferred me. I then talked with a guy that told me a credit like that was not possible. After asking him to cancel the service he told me maybe a different department could take care of the credit so he then transferred me. After the 3rd time on hold I talked with another man, told him my story and he said i would have to talk to his manager. He put me on hold and told me his manager would talk to me right away. After about 5 min on hold a lady picked up and did not know anything about what was going on. I started to inform her about it and over the phone was a bunch of noise some foreign language and then the dial tone. I gave her the benefit of doubt and waited about 5 min for her to call me back; she never did. I then had to call Direct tv back and start all over. I was finally about to cancel my service after telling the 5th person my story and again she tried to talk me into how great of a deal i was getting.

I will NEVER recommend Direct TV to anybody. What a poor poor operation they have. I hope they are soon another forgotten business that fails in this economic down turn.

Lies, endless transfers
Tried to get Direct TV installed in two homes. Was set up with an account and told this was easily possible, but the first guy said he could only set up the first location. However, he would transfer to the next person who would set up the second location. After being TRANSFERRED EIGHT TIMES, each person assuring us that the next person would be the right one, we ended up at customer service, a guy in Colorado. He could not solve our problem and was no more intelligent than the previous persons-he stated we were given bad information from all the others but couldn't even give us his own phone number (he had to go find it).
When we called to cancel, the woman admitted that we were lied to by the first person, a guy who said his name was Michael Jones in OHIO. However, I bet that is a fake name!

Overall we spent one hour and thirty minutes on the phone to try and set it up, then they wasted another 15 minutes for us to finally get it cancelled. This was the worst experience I have ever had! I would not recommend EVER dialing these toll free numbers as they are all apparently franchises and will tell you anything to sell you.

no local stations
i no longer have a contract with direct tv. i also no longer am receiving local channels. i called customer service and was told they changed satellites, and in order to get local i need to do an upgrade to better equipment, and sign a 2yr. contract. all of a sudden...they can do just about any adjustment in their offices and i think they can also monkey with your service for their purposes. this makes no sense to me, why i have to sign an agreement to continue to get my local channels...just too much of a coincidence!!!

Cancelation fee of $376 for 4 days of bad service!
I canceled my direct TV service after 4 day sof bad service. I called and was told by 2 individuals that I would not be charged a late fee and that in PA there was a 15 day window to cancel if you were not happy with the service

I was not happy, I canceled and ended up seeing a 376.01 charge on my bank account. I called and was told to dispute the charge with my bank however the woman I spoke to said I would be refunded the money within one month.

A month later no money and I called back ... called and waited 3 seperate times after they hung up on me 2 times after putting me on hold for over 30 minutes each time. Then was told I will not be refunded if I wasn't already and there is no 15 cancelation window if you are not happy with the service.

a man named Louie who claimed to be a supervisor with an ID number of 424713 was extremely rude and basically said oh well... you're not getting your money back and would not transfer me to anyone else.

I dont think me canceling after 4 days and not wanting to be charged a late fee is uncalled for ... There should be a civil lawsuit filed against them for how much money they scam from people for no good reason... some poeple probably don't even notice. Just awful bad business

Terrible customer service
I had placed an order with Direct tv in which was not what I ordered when I went to verify. I spent over 3 hours with anothe sales rep. which corrected the misleading original sales rep. We then set up an activation date in which the installer would come and setup the program. I had told her that I had 5 rooms she said I only needed 3 receivers and it would operate all rooms. I also told her that I had receivers from the past and she said good they can just activate them and there would be no charge for rental fees I said good then lets get everything done. Well to my surprise when they came to do the installation I was told that the receivers would not work and that I needed 5 receivers not 3. I currently have comcast but I was looking forwards to saving money and getter more channels. Well the five receivers would amount to an additional $20.00 that if I would have known at the beginning I would have said no to the deal. I called customer service and they (in short) either you pay for the extra receivers, even thus they made the mistake, or we just cancel the order, I told them that I was willing to meet them half way but because of principles I would not pay all of it because they lied about the equipment from the beginning . In short I cancelled the order and hope that anyone reading this take appropiate action because I neither will now or in the future recommend Direct tv to anyone and I have recommended them because I had good service in the past but now I cannot see myself recomending something that lies in the hope of getting a sales and then you are stuck for 2 years if you do not catch it.
