Charging for services I was told were free
Direct tv hooked up my cable box in my bedroom. There were too many moving boxes in my living room, and I didn't have a tv in there yet so the guy told me when I'm ready they will come back and hook up another box no charge. Now they are telling me it's 178 dollars, and there's no special offers so I have to wait 6 months and maybe there will be free installation and box.

DirectTv is a Rip off!

I will never refer a company who cost me $1600 for 1 day of service. But I will let people know how horrible my experience was.

I paid $400 up front for two HDDVR that took 3 weeks to first get an installed.

The satellite was put on a non secure tripod and blows over my balcony the first night at 4am. So far I've had the service for 12 hours half of which I'm asleep.

Schedule a service call. Earliest two weeks out. No call no show! Schedule another service call. Another two weeks. Tech gets the service back on but is un-reliable. Goes in and out for weeks. Mind you this first month with little or no service I've been charged for.

Finally had it! Call to cancel. I'm obligated to pay for a two year contract break and they want the boxes I spent $400 on back with no refund on the $400. Wow great company.

I'm required to mail the boxes back in empty boxes that they have to send to me. These empty boxes never show up. Called to order more. Again nothing no empty boxes to return equipment.

So second month goes by. Mind you I've only had actual reliable service for 12 hours.

So finally I wake up to $1200 taken out of my bank account without my permission from DirectTv on a card they had on file from the boxes I thought I bought for $400.

Now here we are $1600 in the hole for again 12 hours of service.

What a great company right!

So no DirectTv I will never refer anyone. Instead defer everyone.

That's my DirectTv blows story!!!

Don't give them your credit card or they will rip you off!

Shove your $100 up your ass!

Customer Service
I've been Direct TV for 6 yrs. Direct TV claims to have the best ratings for Customer Satisfaction. I have never received a survey. The representives act nice, but you'll get nowhere. I had a question about credits on my account. I sent an e-mail-- they babbled and didn't answer the question. I called and again they babbled and didn't answer the question. Long Story short-- I can't use them. If your dealing with this company, do not expect much.

charges for things we didn't order
We had Direct TV for over two years. When we cancelled our service they congratulated us for never being late with payments. Two months after returning the equipment they billed us for over $156 for Pay for Views from over two years ago...that we never ordered. We never had the capability of ordering! When we discussed it with them they said they had no way of knowing we ordered them until they analyzed the memory chips in our units. ?????

You've gotta' be kidding! Can't something be done about such crooked business dealings?

1. the tech rep comes out to install me Direct TV and now begins the endless telemarketing calls from Direct TV, finally after calling and sending emails they stopped-but you need to talk to a supervisor to spell it out to them to stop.
2. Tech reps rams my batteries so far up the remote that when I finally have to change them the whole remote falls apart and now they seem to think I need to pay for the tech reps inability to put batteries in correctly-this still is not resolved
3. False advertising all the time
4. Customer service does not even read your complaints or cries for help
5. they love to pass the buck so it is almost impossible to get anything done by the company
6. In all worse company and customer service I have EVER had in my life.

Ripoff, Fraud & Illegal practices
My husband and I recently moved into a new house, and decided that we wanted Direct TV because my father-in-law has Direct TV & we wanted the same package he has. We placed an order for installation & set up a day to have our services installed. The next day I got a call saying there was a hold on my installation after I already paid $21 for all the hardware. I called the company back like they asked me to, and come to find out that because my father-in-law has a left over balance that he had not paid yet, our services were stopped. I told them that it was bull crap that my services had to be stopped because of my father-in-laws inability to pay his bill, so I told them to cancel my installation & services & refund me my money I paid for the hardware. The told me that they couldn't cancel my services or refund my money until my father-in-law pays his bill. Now tell me why in the world am I supposed to responsible and be punished because of his bill that I have no contractual agreement with? Well after a week of arguing with them & being bounced around between 5 different numbers, I told them that I was lodging a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau & if I can file a lawsuit against them just for the principal that what they are doing is wrong, I will. All I got was, "do whatever you would like to do ma'am, " and an immediate hangup. Don't ever get services through Direct TV! They will find anyway they can to rip you off & screw you over! I'm filing complaint after complaint against these people just for the principal of the matter!

horrible customer service, false billing, terreible service
I have had nothing but problems with direct tv, if the connection isnt going out than my bill is escalading higher and higher!!!
once my signal was out for two whole weeks; customer service seemed to be absolutely no help with that. and did i get discounted for not being able to use their service for two weeks. NO. Than about a week later it went out again...for a week this time.

My bill is supposed to be set at a rate of 48.49 a month, yet it is rarely that. Then i was offered hbo and cinemax FREE for three months. come to find out i had to pay 15 dollars for hbo and i would get cinemax free. SCAM!!! Two months ago when i paid my bill on the automated billing service over the phone, i was told my bill was 67 dollars because i had to pay for the hbo so after i paid that i spoke to another opperator who said i had a promotional rate which made that months bill lower. i was told i had a credit balance because of this, so next month i didnt call in to pay my bill because i thought there was enough credit balance left to cover the next bill. the following month i was charged 88 dollars because some how the credit balance...wanst there.

i have only been with them for ten months and will enjoy the day my 1 year contract is up because i will never use direct tv again. i have been the most unsatisfied customer.

I cancelled my service due to tv remotes never working and channels that i was paying for never came in in other rooms.
When i called customer service i was on the phone for over a hour reprograming remotes, like i work for f-ing direct tv, there customer service sucks and are trained to debate with customers, thay are big scammers. Im sure they hold calsses on how to deceive money from people. So i cancelled my service and they charged my credit card for $800.00 without permission. I am contacting nj trades commision tomorrow and have already contacted the better bussiness burea.
There needs to be a class action lawsuit filled againt direct tv, the things they do are not fair and i am on disabilty.
They shitting on the little people, i am also calling the police department for credit card fraud against them.

False Advertisement and Customer Service
WOW! Direct TV really blew me away with their poor customer service. It first started three days ago when I called to orde their service. After 45 mins on the phone, I was assured that I would recieve the $31 rebate for the whole 24 months! Plus a few other great additions (such as free movie channels for 3 months, $7 off for setting up auto pay, etc.) I was told I would have to fill out for the rebate online. The morning after I did the rebate online, I received an email saying my rebate was good for 12 months and then my bill would be $72.99. I called customer service where they informed me that there was no way I was promised that rebate for 24 months. I agrued to no end, with no result. I spoke with several different sales people and supervisors. They were rude, spoke to me like a 2 year old, and had no intentions of making things right. After 2 and a half hours on the phone, I gave up for the night. I went home and did some research. 36, 000 complaints in 3 years on the BBB, and they have a failing score! Tennessee's Attorney General led a lawsuit that ended on Dec. 15th, 2010 that resulted in Direct TV paying out 13.25 MILLION dollars!!!

Having this new infomation, I called back the next morning and let them know that their customer service and the fact that they are setting u false contracts would be the cause of another lawsuit! They wanted to cancel my current order. Pull my credit again, and charge my car again to 'see' if there was a better deal! They were also escalting my case and I would recieve a call in 3 to 4 WEEKS!!! Are you kidding me????????? I cancelled my installation and told them that I would be reporting to every agency I could. They are false advertising, selling false packages, and have the rudest customer service reps. They advertise that they are number 1 in customer service... BULL!!!

I will be telling everyone I know (and a lot of people I don't know) about my horrible ordeal with Direct TV.

It is being told that Direct TV is charging toronado victims $500 if they are unable to return a remote &/or box when they call to cancel their service.
