Not getting right treated from customer rep and he just hangs up
I just took Direct TV services, they Installed April 2 2010, would like to cancel the services on 14th of April 2010, they said I am bond for 2 yrs, but when I call for services They told me 15 days trail period, and they mention moving is free, know they are asking $ 50. & customer services are very bad, I talk to their rep. is ID # 10015502, not getting right treated from customer rep and he just hangs up, So be careful when you get services from them.

So I will keep them for 2 yrs and never evr go back with them...

Billing
I had Direct TV installed Dec 2008 on a promotion of 12 months @ $ 49.00
My first bill was $ 69.00; I called to complain; little did I know this would be my first of MANY months of calls, ON HOLD< waiting, waiting and WAITING for them to CORRECT my invoice.
To date, I have had service now 18 months, I SHOULD have been invoiced a total of $ 750.49 with my referrals credits, and other discounts for the sign on bonus accounted for, however, to date, I have paid over $ 941.22; and get this. They have SHUT ME OFF TWICE
ANd currently say I owe them $ 120.00

I informed they today that since THEY have broke the 24 month agreement, I will be mailing my box back to them.

Deceptive Trade Practices
After signing up for Direct TV, signal stopped arriving to one of our television sets. We called the company, they tried trouble shooting and couldn't figure out what was wrong and so they said that we would have to pay $50 to have a serviceperson come to our house to "fix" the problem. Otherwise, we could sign up for a 5.99 per month "service agreement" for at least 6 months.

Nothing in the Lease addendum that was provided to us at sign up made us believe that if the Direct TV stopped working that we would be required to pay above and beyond our monthly fee to make it work. Apparently there was some other adhesion contract that wasn't provided until after signup when we received our first monthly bill. I have not checked to see if that contract notified us of this. Even so, we didn't receive that document until after the 24 hour cancellation period had passed.

As I explained above, Direct TV uses highly deceptive trade practices. Furthermore, their service is poor as the television will frequently go out during a rainstorm, they don't have an easy system for on demand programming, as does regular cable. Finally, their interest in assisting customers who are still within their contract is nil. I will be cancelling the service as soon as the 24 month contract period expires. If you are considering cable service, I highly recommend against Direct TV.

Someone elso opened an account with my last name and address
I received a letter with my name on it from direct tv about a tv service for someone else. Someone else is using our name and address to get direct tv service at a different address. This person has done this to us many times in the past and I did inform them of that . I have spent countless hours on hold while waiting for customer service and their identy theft dept. They all told me that there is nothing they could do about it. They have been extremely rude to me and very arguementive. What ever you do stay away from direct tv, and if this someone else uses your last name, address and phone number there is nothing they will do about it. I bet when
this person defaults on their contract they will be calling me.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
Direct TV should be banned from doing business in the US. They promise good service, customer support, etc and when you sign the contract that is the last time you can reach them. I have had their service for a year and my service is out most of the time. I can't reach an english speaking person and normally no one at all. You just stay on the phone and listen to their elevator music for hours until you decide to hang up. Their DVR is junk and has not worked correctly for over 3 days at a time since they installed it. When I mentioned to them that I would like to cancel the contract since they could not furnish me with the service I signed up for they said it would cost 500.00 to get out of my contract. Unreal, why should they not be bound to furnish what the promise. DON'T LISTEN TO THEIR ADS, THEY ARE NOT TRUSTFUL. YOU WILL BE GREATLY DISAPPOINTED IN WHAT YOU REALLY GET FROM THESE JERKS!!!

Unsigned contract
I transferred to direct TV in April 2009 through AT&T who stated I would pay 49.99 per month and my phone and TV services would be bundled. After the first month of service I recieved a bill for over $90.00 the services were not bundled and the because I failed to send in rebate that I was not advised of I did not recieve any discount.

I tried to cancel the services and was locked into a twelve month contract for the rebate I did not receive. In addition, I continued to pay the outrageous monthly fees for the lease of the equipment that I was told were free. Therefore I decided to wait it out.

This morning I called thinking my contract was over to find out an additional contract was made when we bought our new TV and received an HD box. Now we currently have sixteen additional months left on our contract. The cancellation fee is currently $20 dollars per month for 16 months a total of $320.00 to cancel.

The service is poor quality the HD pictures are not always accessible and the is scrambled if the wind blows. I think it is unjust to be locked into a unsigned contract when the service is inadequate. So now I will wait another 16 months and ensure not further adjustments are made by the provider without my consent.

They are the masters at scamming you
They have owed us 536 dollars that they stole out of our account back on Feb. 3rd 2010. I have been given every excuse in the book and still no money. Today I filled out a formal complaint with the Attorny General of Iowa. After reading hear and other web sites it is apperant that this is part of there long list of deseptive practices. It is out right robbery and fraud I hope enough people complain to the state athorities and maybe something can be done to stop there theivery and disseption. I vote for closing them down perminatly.

I will never ever use these scam artist for any service
Our odesey started on Feb #rd 2010. I discovered that without any authorization from me direct TV stole 803 dollars out of my debit account. After finally getting off numerous holds I was assured that minus my bill amount I would get a refund of 536 dollars in 3 business days. waited 4 business days, no refund called again, waited transferred hung up on called back finally someone informed me it would take 30 days. After the BS wait of 30 days and no refund I called and was told that was 30 business days. Today makes 35 business days I called and was told my account had been suspended (I put it on hold while snowbirding it i the south) and since it was suspended there would be no refund, When i ask to speak to a supervisors supervisor I was told she would call me back as soon as she could, been 3 hours no call. I have since written a formal complait to the Iowa attorny generals office. Also have found several sites that are filled with simular complaints about this rip off scamming POS company. Once I can get this streghtend out I will never ever use these scam artist for any sevice I would rather have no tv then to have to put up with all the headaches they have caused me.

Lied to about no cancellation fee
I signed up with Direct TV in October 2009. I was told there was no contract and no cancellation fee and I could cancel at any time. I have had nothing but problems with Direct TV from service to operational issues. Their employees are rude and could care less because they know they have you over a barrel. I called to cancel and was informed there would be a $320 cancellation fee because I was under a 12 month agreement. When I told the woman I was not under an agreement she became very indignant and said that they would just charge my card on file. I asked for the corporate address and phone number and she said there wasn't one. I told her that I would find it and she "Good luck with that." So I told her "Good luck with collecting on that cancellation fee too!"
I immediately cancelled my card and as far as I'm concerned Direct TV can go, well I will leave that to your imagination. Have a nice evening and take my advice, don't ever get involved with these people. They are nothing but a bunch of theives.
