Unlawfully Charging my account
I was charged without my knowledge causing my account to go into the red. When I spoke with a gentleman at the service center he could not tell me what the charges were specifically for, and I had not received a bill other than for $77.79. I was told after the charge occured, any time I used my card, and any card I used was saved on file and after I cancelled my services they were free to charge the balance without telling me anything about it.

Direct tv SNATCHED OUT $ 897.95 out of my Husbands account today!! NO AUTHORIZATION, NO LETTERS, NO NOTHING.. We moved from SC to NY in February.. When we moved to ny, we tried to set up service come to find out we could not put up the satellite dish in the high rise building, so we cancelled service in February. From March to May they were billing us, finally I guess they decided to take out the cancellation fees of $280.00 which they claim is our fault because the landlord won't allow the satellite dish. After the 3rd phone call The Cust. Svc Rep had the nerve to tell me that "You should have moved to a building that accepts Direct Tv" .. so, we are liable for $ 20 a month cancellation fee until our contract is over in another year and a half. I have NEVER heard of a SCAM such as this. The equipment was billed for $401.00 they can have their cable boxes its not that serious... but the billing charges that were being charged to our CANCELLED SERVICE, were reversed of $145.00 ( which take a few days to come back on our account) HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE I RECEIVED TODAY! My Husband had 2 Service Reps that told him, " even though you don't have service, you will continue to be billed until the equipment is returned" even if you cancelled service. I will definitely send a letter to the Corporate Office, not sure how much that will help, but better said then unsaid!

direct tv is the worst business in history. in september, 2010, we ordered their services. we gave them our debit card, and they said that we would be paying 88.00 per month. however, for the months of january, february, and march 2011, we were charged a rate of 169.00 per month. in march 2011 our service was interrupted and we immediately called to complain about the problem. a service person said that we were being overbilled and that we were owed a credit of three months. our service was immediately turned back on and we were satisfied. however on may 24th 2011 our service was interrupted again and this is where things get really ridiculous. we called again and they said that we tried to pay with an american express card on the 20th of april, and the charges were disputed on april 27th. so they decided to cut us off on may 24th. only problem is, we dont own an american express card, and we pay through an authorized dealer with cash. we never even knew that we were still being charged because we were told that we had a three month credit in march and the internet account reflected the same as what they told us. we were not getting our statements in the mail but we thought all was well if we went online to check our account. they told us they never interrupted our service in march and we paid our march bill online with our original debit card. that, however, could not be true because our debit card was in fact an unemployment card which had been out of service since december. we were then switched to the fraud department, who was of no help at all to us. we asked if we could get the recording of the call that was made in the month of march, but no one has that recorded. so now someones american express bill was used to pay a bill that we dont owe, and no one will help us. what kind of business is this and where do we go from here.

FRAUD
I have been with Direct TV for 2 years now and since day 1 had nothing but issues with service, quality of the equipment, customer service and billing. You call the customer service number get bounced around from one person to the next then after hours of holding and trying to get your matter resolved, you get disconnected. Finally I decide to email them and their response is always the same "sorry your having trouble, complaints like yours are rare and we do take this matter seriously" LOL - ya okay did you read your reviews, seems my problems are very common!! They need to be shut down and stopped from scammer customers. How do they keep getting away with these practices? Going to the Dish to take my chances.

Poor service / Poor company
I called and ordered Direct TV service because it sounded promissing! I found that I was wrong and it was a huge disappointment instead! When I ordered the service they told me it would be $21.15 to start and install the service. Upon arrival of the installer he told me that I would have to pay an additional $75.00 for a pole and another additional $16.00 for a flat wire. I explained to him that Direct TV DID NOT quote that to me in the pricing. He told me that if I did not pay the total $91.00 additional money that he could not hook up the service. Needless to say the service was not hooked up! When the installer left I called Direct TV back and cancelled the ordered and requesting the refund of my money! Nearly three weeks later and constant phones calls to Direct TV I still have not had my money refunded! Both my Fiancee and myself have been on the phone with Direct TV for what has added up to many hours and converstions with numerous people! I am talking about over 30 different people that we talked to and we are still waiting on our refund! I will NOT ever consider this company again and do NOT recommend it to anyone! This was nothing but a disappointment from the very first phone call! I called Comcast and had service in 2 days!

Fraud
Direct TV is a scam, if you get an error message on any premium channel saying " searching for signal" you won't be able to reset it. They want you to pay $49 for a service call to fix the issue or they want to offer you an extended. You would think that if there was a signal issue it would be with all the channels right, no, it only happens with your favorite, coincidence? Not, scam.

Fraudulent Practices
I called Direct TV in January to get internet services, I'm new to the area and when I called what I thought was the only internet provider, they informed me that they did not go that far(1 mile) off the main road. Someone suggested that I go satellite, and that's when I called Direct TV. I plainly explained to the phone sales rep. that I wanted internet services, he quickly says, "Yes Sir.. we have that in our bundle, let me get you signed up for TV first and then I'll transfer you over to "OUR" internet department" Everything happened so fast, within the hour Direct TV was here to install my Dish to get the ball rolling. The "Free Installation" went right out the window. Even though there was a pole already in the yard, cable already ran, the service guy says, " That's a substandard pole, I'll have install an upgraded one, and there will be a service charge of $75.00 paid in cash for that" I'm still thinking that my internet service will be up and running within a week. After the week passes and "No Internet" I make the call to complain, I'm informed at this time that my internet services were being provided by AT&T. I hang up and call AT&T, it took a minute before I realized that my internet service was coming through my phone line and "Not" being provided by Direct TV. It was at that time I realized that I had been "SCAMMED" by the Direct TV sales rep. My first call to cancel my service(which in first our conversation I was told I could cancel within the first thirty days, just another lie ) right away the guy takes the defensive and starts telling me that Direct TV will charge my card anywhere from $540.00 to $600.00. The he proceeds to tell that it would be in my best interest to keep it for the first year and that way Direct TV wouldn't take as much, he informed that everyone does it like that. I'm still trying to make him understand that I don't watch TV, I've not watched in 6 years...Needless to say the circle talking telemarketers that Direct TV employs, got me off the phone looking for alternative actions. I tried, watching TV and the only thing that I could get was "771 searching for signal" Now I'm furious, I call Direct TV, I'm screaming, cursing, and telling them to come get this piece of crap off my property, A week goes by, I call again, more aggravated now than I've ever been, more screaming, more cursing, they tell me that they're going to send someone out to look at it. I inform them that they can pick everything up since their guy will be here, I'm done. Well he gets here and the first words out of his mouth are, "How long have you been with Direct TV?" I say, "a few months, " he says why would they(Direct TV) install an outdated system for new customers". He also couldn't pick up my equipment without loosing his job, so he said.
Well I know why I got an outdated system it was all that was on the guys truck when they dispatched him to get this installed as quickly as possible before I realized that they were not providing me Internet Service.
My suggestion to anyone is stay away from these con artist, do business with reputable companies. For all those, scammed into their contracts, close your checking account, cancel your credit card and prepare for battle with these crooks

one time fee
I was charged a $400.00 deposit for direct tv service, no where in their user agreement did it say that this was non refundable. I had to cancel the contract early because I was transfered to a new state and the aparments did not allow satellite dishes. I paid the early cancelation fee and was told I would be getting a refund on the deposit. After several calls I am now told that it is their policy not to issue refunds and they are not required to disclose that to the customer. Is it just me or is this a bit shady? To expect someone to pay 400 for the priviliage to watch tv? It apears that Direct tv is ripping peopl eoff left and right and getting away with it, I had called Bobby Vernon's office and they just reinforced the scam that is Direct TV
