Unauthorized Charges/Fraud
I cancelled my Direct Tv account and paid the final bill. Then they sent me a notice to return their equipment or face penalties. I own two recievers, both of which I bought at Best Buy. I told them they were NOT Directv's recievers. So w/o asking they take almost 400$ from my bank account. I call and they tell me that it doesn't matter where I bought it or what I paid for it they are always theirs? God I hope Lg doesn't take money from my bank account w/o asking if I don't turn my TV on this week...yeah we know you paid for it but its still ours...WTF? Can anybody help me with this illogical BS?
Thx Shawn

POOR SERVICE
What a racket! I signed up for Direct TV a year ago and I have had nothing but problems. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it because they bind you a 2 year contract that is a few hundred dollars to cancel! I have had poor reception and needed to pay $50 for a technician to come out and check it. Why would I have to pay extra to receive good reception from a service that I am paying for? The next round of frustration came when I bought a new TV (HD) and had to agree to another year added to the "agreement" just to have a box that is compatible with a new TV. What do you do? You can't cancel because of the fee and you can't return the TV. Then we decided to add TV in another room of our home! Simple enough...After 4 cancellations from our local installers MASTECH we are still waiting for someone to come. 2 missed days of work and no apology or compensation from either Direct TV or mastech. Call Directtv and at least they stand behind their installers because they DO NOT stand behind their customers. I can't wait until I can cancel this service and urge everyone shopping for a television service provider to stay away from Direct TV!

Bad Costumer Care
On March 2009 I received a Direct TV offer for the amount of $29.99. The following month I received the
billing payment for the amount of $47.00 very surprised and desapointed I called them to cancel my order
right away as I can't affort to pay for it. They lied again telling me it was just the first month for such and
such fee, whatever, Same history of $47.00 charge the 2nd. and 3th month. Then after four or five hours of speach, struggling to convence them to respect people; taking some care of their costumer, And begging them
to charge me the agreed amount, telling me to start paying the $29.00 plus the fee, coming up to $33.00, But
again, the night mare; after two or three months a bill for $92.00 due. Tired and sick I continued paying the
$33.00 accordingly. Then they suspended the service one month ago. Since then I've been asking them to come
to get their equiptment or to send me the boxes to send it back to them, being their answer another bill for the
amount of $123.00. Please help me with this matter. To me the facts are taking place in the world is just the
begining of the very end of age.

Thankyou for your cooperation.

Early termination fees
I had canceled service with this company due to being mislead on rates through a bundled package with AT&T. I was not informed of these additional fees and rates until the installer completed installation and then refused to take back the equipment. He advised I needed to contact AT&T on the following Monday as it was a Friday. It took me three business days from the date of installation to make contact with Direct TV and AT&T to find out who I had to actually cancel with. Now Direct Tv is trying to collect for two years of service on a contract I did not sign and did not agree to. The original set up was through whitefence. Fees were not discussed and as I stated Once I found out the additional fees I canceled within Three business days. Now I have Allied Collections calling my husbands work number trying to collect on services not received nor agreed to. I did file a complaint through the BBB and Direct Tv is unwilling to settle this. They are attempting to collect over 520.00 dollars. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY

Billing Dept.
My bill is past due, so my cable has been shut off. I just came back off a 1 week Vacation. I tried to pay my bill, but they will not accept my payment, although they are still able to open new accouts 24 hours a day. When I call the # on my bill, I am given a different phone # which is only open Monday through Friday, from 9 to 5. I was told that I could pay it on line, at www.directtv.com, but that website is currently UNDER CONSTRUCTION. What a bunch of serious lazy asses. This is the typical American Company wity nothing but Money Grubbing Potential Senators in charge of it. The people in charge are fat lazy slobs who have never worked a day in their lives or had to deal with a late payment because everything has been paid for them, by some guys ass that they have kissed.

Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time
Has to be the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Couldn't even get through the installation process (Which is probably a blessing). Installer showed up 7 hours after his expected time of arrival, had the wrong equipment identified on his work order, I made approximately 8-10 calls to Direct TV and was passed around between " Customer Service" and sales, cut off numerous times. Final conversation with a "Customer Service" person was unbeleivable in that she told me I had changed the equipment order twice and would therefore have to wait two weeks to schedule another installation.

The service technician says they do this all the time. He also said he was available to come back the next day and bring the required equipment, but that Direct TV would have to write a new work order. "Customer Service" refused and said that the work order was being cut for another Direct TV franchise (Apparently they have various franchised installation contractors that work in the same area and the fact their truck says Direct TV doesn't mean they are Direct TV employees).

During the initial sales contact I was also mislead as to what the installation technician would be able to do.

Terrible service
If you value the truth and honesty of a company then do NOT deal with direct tv . DO NOT give them any credit, debit or bank information. they will tell you you have thirty days to try their service... we cancelled within six days and they just took $506.06 out of our account for "EARLY TERMINATION FEES" they have been giving us the run around since we started with them in oct. and ended in november. NO corporate office to talk to, no legal department to contact... SO IF you really want to go thru major hassles to try their service, which isn't what they sell you over the phone when you receive it. and if you want some company getting into your personal money accounts... then go for it!

Billing FIASCO
Whatever you do, under NO circumstances, EVER EVER EVER, deal with Direct TV -- anything would be better. I have a $378.28 bill for a condo that I sold in October and they changed the account under the new owner (on my account without my permission or knowledge) and to correct the situation I had to cancel my service and then said that I owed them a CANCELLATION fee because of the UNAUTHORIZED change to my account that they made! I had service for 6 years that I never paid directly and I had no choice over because it was paid for with my condominium fees. Oh yeah, and the condo was in CHICAGO (I live in Washington, DC now).

After 6 phone calls, it has still not been resolved, and they do not seem to care about the INSANITY of moving my service to DC without my authorization. SO WHATEVER YOU DO, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND NEVER, EVER, EVER PURCHASE SERVICE WITH DIRECT TV.

wrong name on account
Account number 76352479 does not have the correct name. There is no Margaret Soper! My name is MARTHA SOPER. This correction was made by me to the person who signed me up . Again our installer told them the correct name. Please reply to let me know this has been corrected. MARTHA SOPER

Doubled Quoted Charges
Dear Sir or Madam, January 15, 2010

I am writing because of the issue that has been going on since I started an account with Direct Tv only recently. I responded to an offer for the service at 30.00 monthly. This was the only way that I could afford cable service. I was quoted this price and I echoed it several times in my conversations with representatives to make sure that there were no hidden fees. The second receiver cost 5.00 additional for a total of 35.00 monthly.

I received my bill some time later and noticed it was double this amount. Several phone calls then followed. I was then informed of a rebate process that apparently was supposed to be handled online. I then sought to go through this process but was unsuccessful as it seemed that the process never came to completion and a confirmation received. I made multiple attempts but there were multiple problems with the site.

I then called back to Direct TV where a representative said they would take care of this for me. Some time later I received yet another bill again with double the initially quoted amount. This time a representative told me that the time had passed and nothing could be done for me. I explained the situation, that I had been quoted 35.00 and no more and that I could not afford these bills and she told me she could do nothing for me since the time had passed. This even after the representative confirmed that the notes indicated I had had multiple issues with the rebate process.

At this time, I have decided to suspend my relationship with Direct TV because the customer service seems to be severely lacking. Ten plus calls later and no solution was found for my situation. In addition to this, the amount I was quoted was never abided by.

I believe this company uses misleading practices to lure in customers and it smells distinctly of a scam. I am forwarding this letter to the BBB and my attorney. In addition, ours could have been a mutually beneficial relationship, but I am in the process of bankruptcy and the outstanding money that this company seeks to squelch from me will not be obtained. Now neither of us will win. And all I asked for was some assistance from your company and to abide by the amount that was quoted me.
Please do not expect payment from me for these mongering practices.

Sincerely,

Tamara Pardington
