Never become their customer
Direct TV ...money mongering giants. They installed a dish for me as a brand new customer, and the signal kept getting interrupted. After a week of this they came back and attempted to move the dish. The installers put holes all over my balcony and still couldn't get a signal. They had to take the dish out. Direct TV then extracted $259.00 from my credit card they had on file for "early cancellation penalty". Stay away from this evil empire... they could give S&%@ less about thier customers...they only care about what's in you're wallet. I will be sure to spread the word everywhere and will obvioulsy NEVER be a future customer of theirs.

early termination
I had direct tv for a long time, but switched to dish for the what was supposed to be lower rates.I found out that dish was the wrong company.I went back to direct tv within a month and yet they charged me an early termination fee.i think this is bad business .they took 440.00 out of mt checking account with out my permission.

SERVICE
I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER WITH DIRECT TV FOR 3 YEARS, AND ON 12/03/09 MY CABLE SERVICE JUST STOP WORKING, SO WE DID SOME TROUBLESHOOTING AND NONE OF THAT WORKED. SO IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I NEEDED SOMEONE TO COME OUT AND LOOK AT MY BOXES AND TO SEE IF THE WIRES MIGHT HAVE SHORT OR SOMETHING THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME IT RAINS ONLY THIS TIME THE SERVICE DID NOT COME BACK ON, DO YOU KNOW DIRECT TV TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SEND A TECHNICIAN OUTUNTIL TUESDAY 12/08 /09. SO I TOLD THEM YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THIS IS AN EMERGENCY AND ICANT GET ANYONE OUT SOONER THAN THAT. I ALSO SAID THAT I WOULDNT HAVE ANY SRVICE AND CANT WATCH ANY TV UNTIL THEN, YET THEY ARE ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT IM A LOYAL CUSTOMER AND THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT THERE LOYAL CUSTOMERS. WELL YOU KNOW WHEN THEY COME OUT ON 12/08/09 THEY WILL BE IN FOR A RUDE AWAKENING I WILL BE DISCONTIUNING MY SERVICE. IF YOU DONT HAVE DIRECT TV DONT GET ITS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE, CAUSE WHEN IT RAIN, HAILS, SLEET AND SNOW AND YEAH WHEN THE WIND BLOWS HARD YOU WANT HANE ANY SERVICE AND IF YOU DONT HAVE THAT DIGITAL CONVERTER BOX YOU WONT BE WATCHING TV BECAUSE IT GOES OFF EVERY TIME I DONT KNOW WHY I STAYED SO LONG BUT THIS WAS THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK. AND THEY ARE OVER PRICED I COMPARED PRICES AND THERES ANOTHER I WILL BE GETTING SOON AND SAVING $75 A MONTH SO GO FIGURE, HAD TO GET THAT OFF.

direct tv dvr reciever box
My reciever burned out and smoke started pouring out of it .I threw it outside afraid that it would catch something on fire. Has this ever happened to anyone else ? Hopefully there has never been a fire.

RIP OFF- MISLEADING
If you have or thinking about getting DIRECT TV DON'T. They are a RIP-OFF, MISLEADING, SCUM BAG COMPANY. They will tell you what you want to hear just to sign you up. As soon as you sign up, you're stuck.
All those price that is advertise, those are just for 12 month and you have to submit a rebate before you can get that price but you are stuck with a 2 YEARS contract.
When I call to sign up, they give me the price that they advertise but never mention that I need to submit a rebate for it. That was stupid part on me. A week later my son wanted his cartoon channel, so I have to get a different package that have it. I called up and and ask them to switch it. They gave me the package that was advertise. When I asked about submitting the rebate, I was told that I was qualified for the rebate and I have to submit a rebate.
A week later, I log into my account trying to submit it and it said that I was not qualified for this package. This got me ticking. So I call up and got the run around, one department to another to another telling me that I was qualified for the rebate and that someone from the rebate department will call me back. Next day, someone actually did, telling me that I don't qualify for the rebate anymore since I have switch my package.
CAN'T WAIT UNTIL MY CONTRACT IS UP
Oh, forgot to mention that, THEY WILL AUTOMATIC TAKE THE BILL OUT OF YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT WHEN IT IS DUE.

monthly protection plan
i have had dircet tv all most 2 years now i pay 5.99 per month for proctection plan i have 2 dishes on one pole in my yard one is for local channels 2 next door neigbors kids got in a fight and knocked out my local channels i called dircet that is not covered in my protection plan they will come out to my house and reset it for 50.00 dollars so i called dish network told them what was going on and they told me that they would come for free so for direct they can kiss my big ol black crack

Terrible service
I had Verizon Fios and I thought the service there was bad so being the smart guy I am I went to DIRECT TV! What a mistake this is the worse service I have ever had. I have had a box that has not worked since I received it. I called Direct TV and was told I would have to pay a service fee to get this box fixed. Well I paid the service fee and the box still does not work so I phoned Direct TV and I am now told I will have to pay another service fee. When I signed my contract I signed for 18 months so when I called Direct TV i politely informed them the after the 18 months I would drop the service at that point I was told that because I have a HD box my service is now 24 months. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORSE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH!!! To everyone who is thinking about getting this service please think twice had I been warned I would not be in this mess. I am one very unsatified customer!

Will not recommend even to my worst enemy
Direct TV - the worst mistake I have ever made in satellite/cable choices. Since November, I have had nothing but problems with Direct TV. Apparently the capability of posting a payment properly to one's account is not in their training materials. After faxing copies of cleared checks - made payable to Direct TV, PO Box 6414, Carol Stream, IL 60197-6414 - I was told on at least 3 occasions that my checks were not cashed by Direct TV - but by Cingular One. Interesting since I have never had a Cingular One account in my life and since the checks were payable to Direct TV. Today after receiving a letter and again - really LOUSY customer service, I have cancelled my contract - and will be filing complaints with every consumer action/protection group I can. Would I recommend Direct TV or any other sattelite company to a friend? Not even to my worst enemy!

holding credit card hostage
direct tv is refusing to remove a credit card, so that it is holding it hostage, said if i cancel they will take early cancel fees out of that card the next day and they will not susp or cancel untill i pay 29.99 so, as i am an elder lady who has had medical hardship that occured two weeks after getting direct tv and have lasted so far half a year, and i was keeping up with bill untill now so every rep i talk to over and over and over will be so unreasonable and do not care about hardships, the only why i guess is to pass away, they are rude, and they must take lessons on harrasing the customer to get their money not matter what, i promise i have only had it for six months and i regret it and want out of it and will never never never ever have it again and will spread the word to family and friends about the worse service and uncaring and rude people and at christmas time too, bad people do not get direct tv you will be sorry!!!

unauthorized payment withdrawn frm checking acct
I have been going through a very rough year. I no longer gave this company permission to auto payment from my checking acct. ; only to find out that they have done just that! According to their non english speaking customer service representative...their service aggreement allows such a withdrawal. Unbelievable! I can't even find their SERVICE contract online. It seems to be mired in a gobbledy hodge podge of fine print no average person can find. Never again will I use their service! And I submit that anyone who does...thinks twice!!!
