Early cancellation fees
Last May(2008) I receivied a new control Box that was supposed to be DVR, able to record shows, instead they sent me a standard receiver, and when my daughter called the on my behalf they said they would send the proper one out, instead after waiting 5 months and not getting the right one I cancelled my service with them(Oct 08) in Jan 09 I called again to cancel the as in the interim have had Cable hooked up on my computer and TV set, so lo and behold in May my credit card was billed 421 for early cancelaation and cost of one control box, after making a complaint to my bank I then called direct and was told I would get a full refund, now June has rolled around and I was given a 190 refund leaving me 231 dollars left over not refunded, seems that they charged me for early refund because I ordered a new controler (DVR) and received a standard one so even though they sent me the wrong one they still charged me for it, plus an early cancellation fee, plus a cancellation fee, so beware of Direct TV and don't ever get a new controller, Oh by the way I'm a totaly disabled vietnam veteran who lives on a limited budget.

Rip off company
I have Direct TV with a service contract that states if my equipment should be defective or can not be repaired it will be replaced. I lost caller ID on screen June 06, 2009 and was told that it is a software problem I asked if this was a problem on all of there DVR HD receivers I was told no. It is now 2 months with no resolution. I'm also experiencing on the same receiver the audio does not match up with the video you see lips moving and does not sync to picture. I was told to rewind the DVR and Forward the DVR to try and re sync the signal sometimes it works and other times it does not. I spoke to supervisors and the office of the president and was told it is a problem with no time of resolution. I asked for them to replace my DVR with a new one that my Service contract should have covered and was advised that they will not honor it for the problems I am experiencing. I feel that I am being ripped off by them not fixing or replacing my equipment in spite of paying for a service contract they refuse to honor. I hope you can help me to get this resolved and expose this company and alert people that they will not honor there service contracts.

Lied to By Customer Service
Direct Tv"s customer service in plain english SUCKS, extremely unprofessional and rude. When placing order for service I inquired about my custom remotes being re programed and was assured that there was no problem at all when the installer came out. I went further and told them that a laptop was needed with a program to do this and once again assured it would be done. When the installer showed up and installed the system I asked about the remotes and was told they have no laptop or program and cannot do this. Calling Direct TV I was met with people who live by scripts and the only thing they know how to say is that they can not honor that request. Extremely rude and unprofessional people. So now te war is on ad I start with te CEO and certified mail and everyones name and employee number and will continue until I get the satisfaction that I was promised. Do not sign up with Direct TV unless they send you an email spelled out with everyting you spoke about on the phone. They are all LIARS

Poor installation
Poor job of installing and taking advantage of elderly people!<br />
<br />
Convinced elderly parents to switch from Charter to Direct TV for improved HD. DTV sent a company called Buchaneer out to install. (1) Only one installer and had to use my mom and her cell phone ot help fine him tune signal. (2) Pulled wire across the side of their house, attached to side of house with stapler to siding damaging wall, pulled wire over gutter; very unprofessional job. Did nothing to try to hide the wire. <br />
<br />
I called and complained and they came back out and charged $50 elderly parents to install properly. <br />
<br />
I plan to cancel my subscription to DTV in November due to this. Is Dish NW any better??

liars
I got a call from Direct TV. The rep on the phone said he was calling to offer me 3 free months of the HD extra pack they offer. I told him that after the 3 months, if i had to call and cancel the service, that I didn't want the free offer, because i would probably forget about having to call, and would end up having to pay for the free service. The rep told me that I would not have to call and cancel, that after the 3 months, the HD extra pack would just be removed. " DAMN LIE " after the 3 months free trial was over, I recieved a $3.16 charge on my bill for partial months service for HD extra pack. I called customer service and they said " O, you have to call and cancel after the 3 months. I't will be a cold day in hell when the get a penney out of me for the free trial. And if it shows up again on my next bill, they can come get their junk off my roof on the next rainy day.

service
My 87 year old father and 88 year old mother wanted to save some money, so they switched from cable (they were paying around $60/month) to Direct TV.
My father had an ad that stated $39.99/month for 1 year. He called Direct TV and told them what he was currently paying and wanted to save money. He asked them if that included the sports package and was told yes. They installed it the following day. The installers "cut" the cable wires (which was unneccesary and a waste of our planet's resources). My parents don't own a computer; my sister registered for the "rebate" on-line for them and it was accepted. 11 days later he got a bill from them for $83 for the first month. We called them to inquire about the charges and were put on hold & then "disconnected". We called AGAIN, were put on hold AGAIN, & were "disconnected" AGAIN.

False Advertising
August 8th I saw a Direct TV commercial on TV and decided to call to see if Direct TV could beat Comcasts price because my husband had been laid off from work and TV is the only entertainment we can afford at the present time. My husband said I want to keep all of the same features that we have with comcast.

I called 1-800-DirectTV and spoke to Michael. I explained to him my situation and asked him for a price for a package the same as we had with Comcast which was.
Digital Cable Channels, including local channels
A DVR for the master bedroom
HD service on our two HDTV’s, one in the living room and one in our son’s bedroom
Showtime Movie Channel

Michael said we could have the same package as our comcast package for $73.98 a month for 12 months and then would go up to $93.98. I reiderated with Michael that I would be receiving the same package that I had with Comcast and he said yes. I said I need you to tell my husband the same before I sign up and give you my credit card number. He said ok and he told my husband also that the package would be exactly the same as what we had with Comcast. We scheduled the install for Aug 13th. When the install was finished and the service man brought in the receivers my husband asked about the HD and was told there was no HD service included in our order. I came home from work at this time and I called Direct TV. I spoke with a man named Matt. He was very nice and said he would talk to his supervisor and I was on hold for about 15 minutes. When he came back to the phone he said his supervisor ok’d the two HD receivers at no additional charge and read back to me what he noted on my account. “Customer to receive 2 HD receivers and will not be charged for them” and told me someone would call me in a few days to set up a new appointment to install the boxes and change the dish to an oval dish. No one ever called so in a week I called. I was told that there was no mention on our account regarding 2 HD receivers, only the DVR receiver and I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that I could not speak to a supervisor. I thought ok I’ll just wait until they call. No one ever called.

Today Sept 11th I thought I’ll call Direct TV. The person I spoke with was in New Mexico. She had no record of any account for me. She was very nice and dug and dug to find some information and finally found my account and said it had been cancelled. Great.

She suggested I call sales and start over again and explain the situation. I spoke to Frank C. in Los Angeles his employee ID number is 36216. He was extremely nice, he set up a new account and then put me through to a supervisor named Michael to talk about the 2 HD boxes. I explained the whole situation to Michael. He said I understand and we can do this but I cannot alter your order I have to put you through to a AP Sales Person who can do that. I said Michael is he going to know that I’m not to be charged for the 2 HD boxes or the DVR box? He said “yes he’ll know the whole spiel”. When this AP person came on the line he didn’t know one single thing about what I was talking about. I then called Direct TV again to cancel my order. The woman was very nice and she put me through to her supervisor. This person was very cold towards me. I tried explaining to him and he just said no but you should change to Direct TV because even though you won’t have HDTV you’ll still be saving money over Comcast.
I said that’s not the point. Do I want to do business with a company that continually refuses to keep their promise? One person to another has no idea what’s going on? I gave them the employees name, location and employee ID number and they said still there’s no way they can contact that person to verify anything they had said? What kind of business is Direct TV? Comcast costs more but in over 20 years they have never lied to me. How do I know that 2 months into my contract with Direct TV that they won’t renig on other promises?

So I was promised not once, not twice, but three times that I would receive the 2 HD boxes and DVR box at no additional charge and no one will honor their promise and there’s no way to recontact with the person who promised. Yet all telephone coversations are recorded.

I understand that the offer is one premium box with a new order but that’s not what I was originally told. We do not have boxes with Comcast in order to have HD and I was never told there was a box involved in having HD on those two TV’s and that both TV’s would be receiving HD.

I’ve been with Comcast for over 20 years, I can stay with them for another 20 years. Tell me just what kind of company Direct TV is? I certainly do not understand how they operate.

cancellation fee
Don't EVER get Directv! They charged me $460 early termination fee. I lost my signal on a Friday night and because I didn't call them until Sunday (so sorry I have a life-like moving into a new home) I had an active account for more than 24 hrs-therefore I will be charged. Even corporate wouldn't listen to reason.

This company wreaks of rip off and loop hole scam. Fine print on what?
My next stop is BBB.

non- disclosure
I was calling my phone company to disscussed why it was taking them so long to combine my cell phone on to my home phone line, when I was pitched the satellite services, At this time I had already had services with comcast for my internet and cable and was told that I would receive 5 months free of premium channels at 39.99 for a year if I ordered the football ticket promotion and would receive additional savings if I added the internet I would receive a discount that would had lowered my bill to 140.00 dollars per month and because I had already had the phone service and the celluar services with att this would have reduce my bill significantly so after I had the satellite install on the 31st of july of 2009 the next day I called direct tv/att to find out why I didn't have any premiums channels I was livid to find out that not only was I not going to receive the 5 months premium channels but to my amazement the promotion ended so I did not get the channels and also I was never Told that the contract was for two years. they lied and told me that my satellite bill was going to be combined with my phone service after two months they lied it won't be . they told me that the dvr was free upon a credit check it's not. Ive received a bill for $65.00 montly for the dvr and lastly the promotion for the internet was a joke, although I received cash back for switching my services I ended up using the money to pay the satellite bill which is huge and to for the cu de gra the internet suppose to be at 3.0 mbps, it ended up bringing my internet to a crawl which is compared to dial-up and I was being charged 30.00 for it when I was getting 12mbps with comcast for 19.99 as of june 2009 .To all who is considering getting direct tv IM HEAR TO PLEAD WITH YOU THEY CHARGE 400.00 FOR EARLY TERMINATION FEE BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT MOST PEOPLE IS GOING TO GET RID OF THERE SERVICES BECAUSE OF THE POOR QUALITY SO PLEASE !!! DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE OR YOU WILL BE SORRY THEY DON'T DISCLOSED THIS INFORMATION BEFORE HAND SO THAT THEY CALL TRICK YOU " THIS IS A SCAM DON'T FALL FOR IT LIKE I DID OR YOU WILL RISK OR CREDIT .
