We've been a Direct TV customer for more than 5 years. Started getting a very annoying pixelation accompanied by lost of audio 2 months ago. We've made 3 attempts to get Direct TV to help us. First they denied it was a Direct TV problem. Then they put me through 45 minutes of "testing", told me they'd come out and check the system for a $49 service call, and then they disconnected the call when it became clear that the TiVo DVR was at fault. Last time we talked to them we'd done some investigation on TiVo issues and it is quite clear that the TiVo tuner is shot. We called Direct TV, whom we've been paying monthly for the equipment, and were told that as of 2006 we became the owners of the equipment. Fine. But they do not repair the equipment as a result, and would only replace it with a new DVR if we signed another 2 year contract. Now our options are to cancel Direct TV all together, or pay someone to repair what even Direct TV referred to as an "old and outdated" TiVo machine. We're sick of dealing with a company that doesn't care about customer retention or service. And if we own this equipment, why are we paying the same price we used to pay every month when we were renting the equipment from DTV? We're canceling the service and going with FIOS.
