Direct TV/Ironwood Communications Reviews

DVR Replacement/Contract Extension
Recently, I had a Directv technician show up at my home unannounced. He indicated to me that they had they had received a call from me regarding my DVR. I told him I had never called. He then asked if he could take a look at the DVR anyway. Naturally, as he was a Dircectv employee, I allowed him to do that. Several minutes later he told me that he was going to replace the existing DVR. I agreed because I was under the naive assumption that was standard procedure.

Now, Directv is telling me based upon that uninitiated visit of his and the fact that he installed a new leased receiver, that I am obligated to fulfill a new 2 year contract, even though I had just recently fulfilled one, because of the fact that he did that. I have NO idea how to fight this other than call the local affiliate of Directv.

Is it logical to think that they knew my contract had expired and they snuck in a new DVR under the guise of a routine visit that I wouldn't be aware of? Does that type of stuff actually happen? How are these technicians actually paid?

I have really been hoodwinked on this one and after talking to Directv and voicing my clear objection to this, they indicated me that their "Access card team" stated that the contract is valid. If anyone has any experience with this or any insight, please let me know. This really has me frustrated.

Thank you
