Signed up with DirectTV through Verizon and was told there were no contracts. Just tried to cancel and now told that I would be charged $320 and it would be deducted from my checking account within 7 days.

The worst, the worst, the worst! We have had this service for more than 3 years. It has been consistently BAD. Bad service/reception, bad customer service, bad technician service. First, we bought a HD receiver a year ago from Direct TV. This year, when he ordered another and wanted to move last year's to another room, they told us it was OBSOLETE. What?! Then, after buying a second one, NONE of the HD channels work - plus, the regular channels stopped working too! We missed ALL OF SEASON PREMIER WEEK! Now, I am sitting here waiting for an 8-12 technician to arrive. It's 11 am. I just got a call from Dispatch advising that he is running late and will not be here until 2pm! Umm, we have JOBS, which is how we pay for this bad service! I am so mad that I can hardly speak. Buy Comcast, unless you want to join this unhappy club!

Today a DirectTV installer name "Mario Martinez" came to install a dish on my neighbors house, the dish was not only in front of my back main window of my house, but was not according to our Neighbors Association Rules which saids the dish most be on the back of the house... I try to explain this to the installer and did not have the chance... he did not let me talk and said "If you don't like it close your window!"
I am following with out Homeowners Association, we will see what happens... the moral of the story is 'DON'T GET DIRECT-TV' a company which does NOT care of its image or customer service.

...and YES I did call the many 888s and 8OOs numbers!... I was disconnected every single time!

DirectTV?... give me a break!

DirectTV must pay all their employees for sitting down and twiddling their thumbs. There is a machine that answers your call and tries to send you to the right department which usually fails. I had a relative spend 3.5 hours on the phone trying to deal with DirectTV's antics. Also DirectTV canceled installation citing a heavy wind last Friday citing it was too dangerous to use their ladder-it wasn't windy in Holly Hill FL on Friday due to the storm named Faye. On my account they had me listed as Daytona Beach FL where the storm was affecting. I could always use money for twiddling my thumbs -maybe I ought to get a job at DirectTV-as machines do all the work include answering the phone. Good thing they don't rely on push button phones -rotary phone customers wouldn't be able to handle the mess.

The HD keeps going blank, so I have to watch non-HD channels. They said it's a problem they know about, but don't know when it will be fixed. But they will charge me $10 a month for HD that doesn't work. I tried to have them remove it, but I'll have to send in my DVR and get another one, setting everything up again and loss any shows that were recorded. Then if they fix it, change back again.

So, I have to pay for services I'm not getting!
