we get the servis on Sunday for $44 a month. Friday the man comes at 6 pm to install leaves at 9:30 pm not finished. Said to come back the next day doesn't show up until Sunday to finish. wednesday comes a bill for $77 for the first month say that it's going to be like that for two months when we are to pay $44. Then we call to cancel the servis and they say we have to pay $400 to do that. FOR FOURE DAYS WE HAVE TO PAY $400. YA RIGHT THAT IS SO STUPED!!!

Practically anyone can start an incompetent satellite TV company like DirecTV did
Why am I happy? I was very tired of standard cable, so I read the DIRECT TV propaganda and saw an answer to my prayers: so much service for so little money! But wait; I had better look for DIRECT TV complaints, in the unlikely event there should be any such thing. I now realize than practically anyone can start an incompetent satellite TV company; DIRECT TV did! I could even do this, but I'm an analyst who pays attention to the bottom line.

Still, DIRECT TV could come after me. Some of their minions might even be competent. I stopped by Best Buy and looked at one of their receivers. There’s a $400 cancellation fee right there. I thought about getting a couple of HD DVR’s. There are endless more fees for intent there, and I should never be so stupid as to believe that “free” really means at-no-charge. I have so far not paid these people one cent, but I am a sworn enemy. Are they going to take that lying down?

I once go scammed by “The Home Business Group” by paying home business start-up fees. I got my money back. “The Home Business Group” made all their money on these fees and nothing else.

Suspiciously, it looks like DIRECT TV depends on a variety of fees to stay in business. If one has lousy service, the income has to come from somewhere. Raiding people’s accounts works even better.

I have been writing all sorts of government officials about this. I have urged government officials to pay close attention to the so-called DIRECT TV contract and the danger of “implied consent.” Implied consent is common on internet scam sites. Once one is caught up in an implied consent scam, the only way to stop it is to cancel one’s credit card. DIRECT TV takes this even further, by turning practically any account over to collections. Mass collections without cause ends up being another scam. All the government has to do here is tell the banks and credit bureaus to ignore DIRECT TV.

Do not trust Direct Tv representatives
Consumers beware this is my experience with DIRECT TV. I called and talked with a sales represenitive named Anthony he quoted me my prices for the promotion period for the remainder of the first year and then for the following year of obligation made him do it twice I wrote it all down and repeated it and he confirmed it. After the installation got my first bill and yes of course it did not match what I was quoted so I call talk to a lady named Mary nice enough but no help she state I need to talk to another department and they can request the recorded conversation between Anthony and myself, wrong talk to a guy named Beau who is in seriuos need of customer service skills he tell me I have to write a letter to the "OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT" which I did. I talked to a lady there named Lisa who could tell me that they don't record these calls to find discreprencies on bills only to see if the employees are being polite they don't care if there telling the truth. She then states that I could find the monthly amount myself by placing an order online and not talking to there customer assistance so apparently if you don't have a computer and your nor online Direct TV doesn't want you buisiness. Lisa then told me even If I cancel this service due to them misquoting me I will still have to pay all the obligation requirements. Consumers beware DO NOT TRUST DIRECT TV SALES REPRESENITIVES.

Worst company I have ever dealt with
I think the company should get the people answering the phones and their supervisors more intelligent replies. Not just, "I'm sorry ma'am. I can't do anything more to help you" or "I understand ma'am". When they neither understand nor do they care. They want me to wait 2 weeks for a person to come to line up the dish with the satelite even though their bad installation plus the wind is the cause of the problem. There are other people in the neighborhood with No problem. You should see what they did to the chimney. All of the concrete & bricks are broken. And I was willing to forget that but no TV for 2 weeks? Something should be done.

Unauthorized Bank-Debit Card to pay Early Termination Penalty!
DirectTV satellite Television Service and Debit Card use:
This company will take your data from your use of your Bank Debit Card, to collect payments that they deem penalty fees for early termination of services. I gave them a Credit card as security for the installation of their service which proved to be extremely unsatisfactory, unfavorable channel selections, poor reception of video and audio often--everytime weather conditions were rainy, snowy, or other irregular. Their rates increased and were too expensive as well as unsatisfactory viewing channels which were mostly infocommercials, or sports. They gave me a cheaper package which was even less favorable. When I could not pay for two months, I tried to cancel my service, but they tried to force me to accept another package eventho I couldn't pay for the service I had. When I stuck to my decision to cancel my contract, they got hateful and demanded immediate payment for early termination of their "two yr contract". That fee was $347, which I promised to pay off in monthly payments, but they instead sent thru charges on my Debit Card to my Bank checking account, completely without my knowledge and authorization. I NEVER gave them permission to use the card for anything other than a couple of payments in the past service months. The unexpected unauthorization of withdrawal of my funds which was earmarked in my budget for a mortgage payment, caused a default on my mortgage loan, and overdraft fees from my bank! The bank said they have a right to withdraw my money, if I have submitted the card to them previously for the monthly service fee. This seems completely unfair to me! Especially without anybody notifying me that the charge was taking place. Does everybody know that your Bank Debit Card can be used to ROB FUNDS FROM YOUR CHECKING ACC"OUNT without your knowledge or permission?
The bank had preexisting setup accounts by my mortgage company for the monthly payment, and I believe it was poor business practice of them to allow the DirectTV withdrawal to transact before the mortgage payment was withdrawn. The Direct TV payment should have been held, but the bank says NO, it doesn't work that way. So here I am 68 years old trying to exist on a retirement pension, fighting with the Bank over overdraft fees that are climbing daily with their daily od charges, I'm without TV, $347 stolen from my checking account, and groveling with my mortgage for "grace" and hopes of getting some kind of Federal assistance for a refinance for my mortgage loan, because I'm about to lose my home that I've lived in for over 30 years. I would not be in this situation, if only DirectTV would have been reasonable and allowed me to just terminate their service, and left my mortgage payment in my checking account!
Damn the bastards, may they all rot in "you know where", or better yet, I hope their executive employees, owners, board members, all who are responsible for making business policy find themselves in a place in their lives where they have to suffer like they caused so many of their undeservingcustomers.
It is the most overpaid, unsatisfactory service that I have ever experienced in all my 50+adult years.
Stay away from this business! And WARNING: Don't give your Debit card to them or change your card if you've already used it!

Incorrect Information
I dropped satellite tv several years ago but ever since have continued to receive mailings and phone calls from them in an effort to get me back as a customer. Every time, I would call and ask if they now had all local channels available in my area, including NBC and CBS. The last time I contacted them I was told I could not get the local channels but could receive NBC and CBS out of the New York market, so I decided to come back. However, upon installation and calling DirectTV to add those two networks, I was then told I needed to send a wavier to the local affiliates to get their permission to receive the networks. In talking with other DirectTV customers in the area, I have found the local NBC affiliate does not grant the waivers. So now, if I want NBC (and maybe CBS if they don't grant a waiver either) I will need to keep basic cable, in additiion to my DirectTV. I was also told when I agreed to sign up that I would have 15 days to cancel, which I opted to do since I could apparently not get the local channels. However, when I got a supervisor on the line and complained about the NBC and CBS problem and then asked about cancellation, I was told that did not apply in Virginia. So, I was given incorrect information (lied do) when I agreed to sign up with DirectTV again.

Corporate greed and short sightedness
Direct tv claims service is hardly ever disrupted by weather. This is a blatent lie. I live in the Chicago area and frequently when it is rainy windy or snowy, my service is interupted. The last straw is now. My service has been down for the=ree days and when I called for service I was told I would have tomwait two weeks. The service reps on the phone all had different theories for why my service was down. None of which helped.

I was told if I canceled I would owe a cancellation fee of $480. This is an example of corporate greed and short sightedness. I doubt they will be in business within the next 24 months.

Worst company on earth
After being a loyal customer for 5 years, I decided to change my television provider. I rang DirecTV on January 2 to cancel my order and spoke to a representative for 20 minutes as she attempted to change my mind. At the end of the conversation I told the agent that I was very please for the past 5 years and I would be glad to recommend them in the future.

I did not receive confirmation of my canceled for several days, so on January 11 I wrote them an email and received a reply on January 13. I immediately called the number provided to discuss the circumstances. When I explained to the agent that I canceled my service on 1/2 she told me she had no record of my call. I asked how could this happen she told me I must be mistaken. She told me they had records of my previous calls, so I asked her how could they have those and not the one from the 2nd? She did not understand the question and grew hostile.

I asked to speak to her supervisor and after her trying to get me off the line several times I was finally put through to a supervisor who informed me that they did have record of my call, but no message about the conversation or cancellation notice.

I told them to immediately cancel my service. Then I asked how could this happen to a loyal customer of 5 years. They had no answer and told me I would have to write a letter to billing to dispute any additional charges.
I meant what I said originally about enjoying DirecTV, but now after being treated like this I will never recommend their service and am expected a long drawn out process to be credited for the dates when my service was suppose to be turned off.

Dishonest company
I think Direct Tv has the worst Customer Service and run a dishonest company. They over charge and the technicians that come out lie for you to sign "telling you that you are only singing to verify that they came out. but you are signing your life away with unheard of charges for services that you did not order or get. When you call in you are sent on a wild goose chase only to accomplish NOTHING. so after you are totally fed up with the games they are playing and insulting your intellegence you cancel the service only to be stuck with a BIG FAT BILL!!!

Awful experience
Where do you get help with questions when you need them? We had an analog TV when we got Direct TV as a second set. Now our son bought us a HDTV for Xmas and We want to know if We need a different type of box to put on it as our second set. Our first set has a different box than the second one. The HDTV as a second set doesn't work without a black frame around it.
