Moving charge
Directv "mover's" page states you are allowed ONE "FREE" move per year. It also states there are certain terms and conditions, such as tenure, payment history, etc. HOWEVER, the company does not list any specific language as to how long the 'tenure' has to be. The language is VERY arbitrary (a word I used with the 'customer service' rep but I doubt she knew what it meant until I explained it to her). IOW, the company can select the terms for length of service within that first year on an arbitrary basis, whatever they want it to mean. This particular rep stated to me that I would have had to have service for 6 - 8 months prior to the move in order to qualify for a "free" move and not be charged a $50 fee for moving. Even that is arbitrary...is it 6 months, 7 months or 8 months? What if it is 5 months and 28 days? The long and short is with all the complaints about this company, and they are legion, which major consumer protection law firm out there is going to take on this company in a class-action suit??? I'll be the first plaintiff and will assist in the filing and work that needs to be done. Their capricious and arbitrary practices in all areas of overcharging and lack of proper service are outrageous and must be stopped... to hit them in the pocketbook... big time. Anyone want to help me take this on?

Service
Be careful if you pay your DirecTV monthly bill early. They will send you emails demanding that you pay your bill in full by the due date. I paid my monthly bill via the bank on the day that the bill was received. Two weeks later I get emails from DirecTV stating that, as the bill is falling due, I should make payment in full before the due date. rtepeated attempts to sort it out failed miserably. Roll on 2011 when I can run awaqy from DirecTV as fast as I can. Dish network or COX TV here I come.

Telephonic Harrasment
I cancelled my service with Directv on 5/4/2010 after being a customer for 10 years. Had no problems until I cancelled! Now I can not get them to stop calling me! I have contacted the DOJ three times and my AG twice the do not call registery 5 times also my local Sheriffs Office twice and nothing has done any good! I have written there CEO I have told the Operators I have sent e-mails and they still will not stop! Someone needs to get Directv to stop calling people after being asked to stop! They call 2 or 3 times each day from 7 am to 7 pm everyday including weekends! Come on I should not have to say more than once Do Not Call Me! They have called me 29 times just in November 2010! If I had to guess I would say they have called me over 300 times since May!They Called me 9 times the first day alone! Enough is Enough!

Scam - Cancellation FEE
DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING with this company!!! They offer you a great discount/package price...you never end up getting that price, they overcharge you and it takes forever to credit back/issue their "rebate" - they make you sign a 2 YEAR AGREEMENT...which it appears even if the home is sold due to someone being ill or maybe even dying - they STILL HOLD You to a HUGE Cancellation Charge!!! AND best yet, you supply them with a credit card...so there they got you...you just gave them PERMISSION to charge the credit card for HUGE cancellation charges!!!

Channel Drop
To: Mr. Michael White, Chairman, President & CEO of DIRECTV
We, the undersigned, ask that you reconsider the decision to remove G4TV programming from your channel line up.

Many of us have been loyal views since G4TV first launched on April 24, 2002. Some of us have been watching since TECHTV first debut on May 11, 1998. Some of us have never known of a time when there was not a channel devoted to us. A place we felt at home.

We have learned everything from the basic usage of a computer all the way up to building a computer ourselves. The channel has been a teacher to many and a friend to all. We ask that you please reconsider your dropping of G4TV.

We come from all walks of life and all age groups. From the child that looks forward to his favorite show every week to the grandparents who learned how to use email for the first time by watching this channel. The channel represent a bridge of generations that has never been duplicated nor ever will again. We are a community. Please do not break that up.

Although The Nielsen system is outdated, and does not fairly represent the amount of people watching. We understand it is the industry standard for obtaining viewer interest in a particular television show. It is our sincerest hope that this petition will represent to you the commitment of the public in support of G4TV.

We each sign as an individual but all sign as family.

claims I owe them money after 10 years
I have not had Directv service in 10 years (and have moved two states since then). I barely remember ever using DirecTV, but i just had two missed calls while I was eating dinner. I called them back and it was DirecTV. I gave them my name and my last 4 digits of my ssn and wanted to clear up the problem. The person was rude and said I didn't pay my bills and I needed to write them a check for more than $150. What? I've bought two homes since then and never heard of this outstanding debt. The person on the phone was rude, crude and insulting. I don't know exactly what to do now. get a lawyer?

Unauthorized bank withdrawal
I was helping a friend by paying his bill thru the internet. He would give me the money and I would pay the bill thru the internet. Well he lost his job and was no longer able to pay for the directv service. He said that he cancelled their services. Directv felt that they had the right to deduct $200 dollars from my bank account just because that was the card that was registered to pay for the bills. They didn't even notify me that they were going to do such a thing. Now I have an overdraft on my bank account. I hope that I can get my money back.

refund disputed/ horrible customer service
About two years ago i was moving and had by cable service discountiued in which i had given Direct cable access my my checking account to pay my bill. In which they took out a total for the equipment and bill. I had no problem with them doing so to complete our transaction. I was then notified by Directv in writing that if i return the equipment, they would issue a partial refund. I immediately did so, but no refund followed. Then started all the run around. I got intouch with Directv to notify them that the account they had on file no longer existed and that they would have to send out a check. I was told this would be done but it never happen. Call #2 I called again and they told me of how they sent it to the delinquent account an that i would have to track it down to my financial institution. I thought it was a crazy request but did it anyway. Next call told them of my findings and still there was a problem. Now I was passsed from agent to agent to management, and fianally on to Billings Dispute. I was told now that i had to send in a written statement with finacial statements to back my findings, when all they had to do was see that the amount was not distributed to an account. I work in Business and know that this in not proper protocol or etiquttes. I will advice noone to do business with such a shady operation.

Unauthorized withdrawls
I canceled my DirecTV account & returned their equipment due to unsatisfactory customer service.

Without my permission DirecTV debited my bank account for the balance due. I called DirecTV asking that they credit the monies back to my account, send me a bill and I would send them a money order. They refused!

I spoke with representatives at my bank on two separate occasions; two different representatives told me that DirecTV is notorious for this type of action/transaction.

I am contesting the charge with my bank and have filed a complaint with the FTC.

I want everybody to be aware of DirecTV's unscrupulous practices. Apparently it is commonplace with them.

erroneus info and overcharging
My home was destroyed by fire and water damage. Me and my children lost everything we owned. I had the insurance through directv and two agents told me they would cover it. They even offered to send the equipment when I called however I was homeless. Now my home is repaired and I am trying to get reimbursed. They are now telling me they will not do it, after they promised. Allstate states they do not cover anything from directv. Please help!!
