stole money from my account
I will NEVER do business with Directv ever again, they took 455.00 out of my account at 11:30 PM saturday morning, they didn't tell me they would keep my credit card information on file...but they do. I wanted out of my contract due to what I felt was their fault for not honoring their part of the contract ie the $10 off for refering an employee or friend. In the 5 months that I was a subscriber I had phoned them over 12 times each time spending no less than an hour at a time (45 minutes was on hold)3 people from that company stated that the only way out of their contract is if you DIE.If anyone plans on taking this company to court let me know

Service calls
I am unhappy with Direct Service.
I have not had Satellite services for over a week .
I am unhappy they charge to send a tech to check your equipment you lease from them.
i could under stand if the equipment was mine own and not leased and if i did not follow the trouble shooting over the phone first. there would be a charge but not if i lease and the trouble shooting does not resolve the issue. i will never recommend DirecTV again to anyone and will only give negative remarks to anyone who inquires on them.and i am having all cancel that have signed up with me.

Rip off
They lied about the programing, services, and promotions I was to receive. The sales person and the direct mailed offer that I responded to told me I was to get free HBO and Showtime for 3 months, and my bill would be $49.99 after the new customer credits and rebates. I ended up with Starz and Showtime, didn't get the cinema connection I asked for, and didn't get the HD access credit I was promised causing my bill to be $10 higher. The salesperson was overly familiar, calling me Mr. Andrew like I was a 12 year old. He entered my email address and street address wrong, so I had no record of what I was getting or paying for. The installer was very nice, but was late because he drove all over the county looking for a street that didn't exist. The install took extra time because they didn't send him the right parts. Repeated emails and a call to customer service resulted in no help and more lies. All I can say is STAY AWAY FROM DIRECTV!!

Blew up my TV
I subscribed to direcTV on around June 15, 2010, and before I even got my first bill, this company's faulty equipment fried my 55" LCD TV. Then their "Damage Claims" processor required me to get an estimate from some no name cable repair man, who wrote me a quote for over $700. Because I followed direcTV's instructions, and allowed this guy to touch my TV, it voided my manufacturer's warranty, and they still haven't reembursed me for the repairs, stating that they are not at fault. The Tech that came to my home couldn't get the box to even power on, yet in their diagnostics center, the box tested fine. They love to change their stories!! I have retained an attorney, and have been reassured that I can sue for the two months that I had to pay for the service and couldnt use it, in addition to a reasonable charge assessed to me for 7 hours of time I spent on my cell phone with them, payment for the time i spent on the phone with them and for the costs of repair... all times 3 in my state. And to top it off, my attorney has also added in more for the stress they put on my pregnancy, when Yvette Martinez from damage claims called me at work screaming at me for having not called her before i sent a fax to customer care reguarding her poor attitude. I honestly think that if enough angery people sue this company, we can drive them out of business!!!

Programming
They dropped my favorite channel! G4! When I called and asked them why, they said they saw no value in the channel and that it just wasn't worth having. WTF?! I can't believe they would drop my favorite channel, with out that I can't stand using their service! Now I'm dropping them, I can't believe they would drop it.
Very upset ex customer-

DirecTV has gone evil - dont sign a contract
Warning: DO NOT SIGN CONTRACTS WITH DIRECTV UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE THEIR CASH SLAVE AND BE INSULTED BY CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN THEY SCREW UP YOUR ORDER. DirecTV has become one of those big companies who trains customer service to use every opportunity to screw over every customer if they can. They made a mistake when I ordered their service for 4 rooms in my new second house, after I had been a customer for 10 years at my first house. They did not install HD, which I had ordered according to their ad that I had called on. I had called them about a specific ad for HD service and ordered the service with a 2 year contract. After the install, I figured out after two weeks or so that they did not install the HD service (after I finally got all my TV's hooked up and my roommate told me the HD "wasn't working right") DirecTV refused to do anything about it or acknowledge their error because I "had signed paperwork and made a payment which is proof that I ordered what they installed and it's my fault and my problem." They were very inflexible and rude (but with sweet voices saying "sorry there is nothing we can do because you signed the agreement for the installation and we can prove it. Basically they know how to sweetly tell me 20 times to go F myself.) This continued with every person I talked to at DirecTV in an effort to find a sane supervisor who would actually listen to me and use their brain while doing so. To finally get the HD going (which I had promised to provide to my roommate/renter) they made me change my whole contract and negated the offer that I had originally called on because I was now technically "changing my order" (even though I was just trying to get what I wanted in the first place, which was based on the ad postcard I got in the mail.) The only alternative they offered me is to pay the outrageous cancel fee and cancel - which I wish I had just done. They also forced me to restart my 2 year agreement, which was several months through by the time I got it sorted out so they screwed me on the rate and force me to pay longer than the 2 years I started with. WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. It's official, DirecTV is one of those companies that looks for ways to tell customers "go f yourself" if they can catch you on some technical reason to screw you over. It reminds me of how a cellphone company intentionally designed a phone that would cause their good customers to "oops" press a button that seems to be a mere menu button but that connects you to the internet with a big fee - knowing most people would not notice and just pay. DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACTS WITH THESE KINDS OF COMPANIES BECAUSE THE DAYS OF KEEPING CUSTOMERS WITH GOOD SERVICE ARE GONE. NOW IT'S ALL ABOUT TRAPPING YOU. AND IF YOU DONT GET A LAWYER TO HELP YOU WITH A SIMPLE TV CONTRACT YOU WILL LIKELY BE FINANCIALLY ABUSED BY THEIR "POLICIES" AND WILL BE FURTHER ABUSED BY PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE ROBOT-IDIOTS IF ANYTHING GOES AWRY AT ALL - EVEN IF IT'S THEIR FAULT.

fraud
Directv charged $326.99 to my debit card and is now telling me that it will take 10 or so business days for them to give me my money back. I do not have Directv service nor will I after this and I will recommend that people think twice about Directv. There is a 3-digit security code on the back of credit cards that prevent mis-keyed card numbers that Directv failed to use. I just want my money back that they took from me.

Billing & Practices
Directv. Future customers, take this as a warning...do not use the services of Directv. In the end...no matter how short a period or long a period of use of their service they will find a way to take your money. You will never sign a contract as it comes with your first bill...after that you are screwed. Expect to get a very hefty cancellation fee when you discontinue service.
The bad part...it doesnt matter if your are a lawyer, an IRS agent, a financial saavy individual, or a Servicemember that is covered under the Soldier/Sailor Relief Act...you are either going to pay or they are going to screw you in the end on your credit bureau report. Don't pay and ruin your credit. Pay and take them to court...good luck. They are a billion dollar company and have a bunch of low-life lawyers who are versed at screwing the average person over. Just imagine trying to take the Government to court...a lengthy period might go by and you might win; however, it is still you that are going to lose in the long run.
Unfortunately this means go back to your cable company. Might be more expensive; however, in the long run its a lot cheaper. I know with my past cable companies I could cancel the next day and only owe for the period of use.
Directv believers...there are pages on facebook, everywhere on the internet, twitter, you name it...the company is HATED, wake up people...you are naive.
Directv... I have warned everyone in my family, all of my friends, and will continue with everyone I ever come in contact with. You can cross off at least 100 customers and counting. That already equals $40, 000 in cancellation fees that they would have screwed unknowing individuals over on. Take the loss Directv and it will continue to grow.
Like I told their Reps & Managers, all it takes is for one person to do the right thing. Their response...you can write all corporate headquarters or hire a lawyer. My response, I can stay on the phone as long as I want as it is VOIP and not costing me anything...you can't hang up...all you can do is listen and attempt to answer and assist (I will be firm, respectful, and repetitive) your $15 dollars an hour in pay received is adding up! I have the time and the inclination to continue to write and file complaints...BBB, State Attorney General, State Senators and Congressmen, Facebook, Twitter, Complaints Board, and every other forum. Retired, vengeful, and all the time in the world to legally cost them money.
Anyway, rambling on because I, of course am upset with Directv. However, save yourself the anguish of getting in the same situation...DO NOT ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE EVIL, MONEY SUCKING ENTITY THAT DIRECTV IS. Do not give them your personal information, your debit or credit card, your ssn, or any of your banking information.

Unauthorized debit
I canceled my DirecTV account & returned their equipment due to unsatisfactory customer service.
Without my permission DirecTV debited my bank account for the balance due. I called DirecTV asking that they credit the monies back to my account, send me a bill and I would send them a money order. They refused!
I spoke to representatives at my bank on two separate occasions; two different representatives told me that DirecTV is notorious for this type of action/transaction.
