This is the worst company to do business with in the entire US
This is the worst company to do business with in the entire US. If for some reason you have to cancel services due to line of site, or landlord issues, they will try to soak you for as much as they can.
They remind me of what I learned in school about the Nazi Party. I do know that word will get around about their deplorable service, and sooner or later they'll go out of business. I hope that someone from the corporate office is reading all of the negative responses people are giving them throughout the internet and wakes up to the fact that they are in a losing battle with future potential customers.Good luck with your money grubbing venture.

The customer service is horrible
I am not a complainer but they brought it out in me. I recently became a customer on 12/28/09. I have have had multiple issues. Don't let that "who do I have the pleasure of speaking with" bs fool you. The customer service is horrible and the information from the supervisors down is inconsistent. The offer $100 gift card and $100 referral fee, now I see why. I wanted to terminate service now they want to mention the $470 for early termination. I should have gone with dish now the NFL playoffs are on and I cant watch it because I am not getting a signal after one week. All they can say is "we are sorry a tech will be out in several days. If I knew then what I know now.
Oh yea when they cut a hole in the wall they left a mess and cut too much and now I have an extra cut in my wall, I am so pissed.

They want to charge you an early disconnect fee
Do not, I repeat DO NOT sign a contract with Direct TV. They want to charge you a early disconnect fee, even if u have been out of work for over 7 months, have to move and your new landlord does not allow satellite's on their roofs. They do not care, they want money for doing NOTHING! I will never sign another contract with any satellite company, period! Beware folks, u can get service without Direct TV, besides that, everytime it LIGHTLY rained, no service. They said it was SEVERE weather, not true, barely a rain and it would be out for an hour or more. DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE, you'll be so sorry doing business with Direct TV!

I will tell everyone I know and meet about their deceptive practices
I have recently called my DISH service and found that I had mis-dialed (1-800-686-2388 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-800-686-2388 end_of_the_skype_highlighting insteadd of 1-888-686-2388 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-888-686-2388 end_of_the_skype_highlighting). The phone answered Welcome to Dish One Up and an operator quickly asked for my address and email information. They then tried to get me to "upgrade" my service, when I became suspecious of the "hard sale" they admited they were with Direct TV and that I had "misdialed". Regardless of who these people are they represent your company because you let them. I would NEVER switch to your company now. I will tell everyone I know and meet about this deceptive practice of yours. I don't want a reply, I don't want anything from you ever.

Rebates
In December 2009 I received an advertisement for DirecTV service that promised a $100 VISA gift card if I activated service by December 31st, signed up for Choice service or greater and automatic billing. I activated service on 12/23/2009 and was told I met the requirements for the VISA gift card and should expect it within 3 months. After 3.5 months I called them and they said I was eligible but they were behind in processing it but it should be sent shortly. I contacted them on May 13th and was informed I was not eligible for the rebate. I asked why and they said that, although I met all of the requirements, there was an entry error on their end and they could not issue the rebate because it was now too late. I have appealed the decision and get the same answer -- there is nothing they can do! I believe this is called fraud where you solict business on a false premise and then don't honor the premise because of the company's error.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with the rebates?

Biggest scam on earth
Biggest scam on earth and I'm shocked they're able to get away with it.
1) I was told when signing up it would cost me one thing...asked several times to confirm then I was not only charges almost $30 more than what I was quoted, but was told it was going to cost an extra $100 to get a DVR box.
2) I was told on the phone that if I bundled ATT internet I'd get a $10 discount on my Direct TV bill. Found out that was an absolute lie.
3) I was told on the phone I would get a $100 gift card for signing up. It's been 6 weeks and I've gotten NADA.
Customer service is a joke. They absolutely will not honor what they tell you on the phone. MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN BAIT AND SWITCH. THEY TELL YOU ONE THING TO GET YOU TO SIGN UP, THEN CHARGE YOU SOMETHING ELSE WHEN YOU'RE LOCKED IN.

customer servive and bad equipment
I have no clue where directv gets off saying their number one in customer service. I've had nothing but trouble.First, their service is a joke.Every time I've had a problem(and there have been many) I can't get in touch with anyone.I have gone through 9 dvr boxes and 12 remotes. They even sent me a brand new Dvr box that didn't work at all. They have even put charges on my bill that weren't even mine and then argue with me, even though they have my account pulled up on the computer and could see i didn't owe that charge. They claim that even though they made the mistake you are still responsible to pay it.

Direct TV is a bait and switch
Direct TV is a bait and switch. Despite taking hours to sign up for service, no one tells you of the 24 month contract until the time of installation. Both unfair and unreasonable!
