Abysmal service
We moved from AZ to CO - we had DirecTV in AZ (where we lived in a house), so we had a contract and had to continue with it in CO. We really couldn't afford it, so I was quite pleased when the technician came out and determined we couldn't get a signal (we're on the first floorof our apt and a large building was blocking our only clear view of whatever sky we needed to see). I asked what that meant since we had a contract, and he said he'll call them and tell them we have a line of sight issue and they'll suspend the contract. Ok great. So we go out and buy a DTV converter box and an antenna (since as I mentioned before we couldn't afford Cable/satellite service). A couple of days later my husband calls DirecTV to find out if we needed to mail the receiver boxes back, and they tell him they've changed their mind and they think they can find a signal, and they send out new technicians. These technicians show up, start drilling without my permission (thus breaking our apartment rules), run over my foot with the door, and leave without saying a word to me (while I sat in a bad neighborhood with the doors unlocked thinking the DirecTV guys were still outside working and would need to come back in). While all of this is happening, I'm on the phone with DirecTV telling them they better reimburse us for the DTV converter box and antenna we had purchased and opened (so we could not return them) which we no longer needed since we were being forced to keep our satellite service. They refused - I asked for a supervisor, they left me on hold forever only to have the supervisor also refuse. I kept asking them to explain why it wasn't their fault that their technician had told me we could not have satellite service, and now they were changing their story, and they couldn't. They just kept repeating "there's no way for us to reimburse you for something that wasn't charged to your account." Well then give me however many months free service that will add up to the amount I'm out, idiots! Once I realized that the guys had left, I called DirecTV back and they told me they'd have the technician call me.
The technician called and basically said "what do you want, we were done." I told them there were loose wires just laying on the floor in front of our fireplace, they had damaged the baseboard in the bedroom, they had put the satellite hanging over our balcony bolted in (which wasn't allowed) hanging directly in front of a stairway so people would have to duck to get up the stairs, etc. The guy hung up on me. Eventually after numerous angry calls to DirecTV, they sent a QA guy out who agreed they had done an abysmal job. He said he would send his lead technicians over to take care of it. The technicians came over and agreed that if they followed the rules of the apt complex, they would not be able to get a signal. They took everything down and sort of repaired the damage, and told us that we would be released from their contract. I questioned him saying "you're saying that just like the first technician said that, how do I know when I call they're not going to change their mind and try to send someone else out again?" He told me "I'm the manager and what I say goes, period." I got his name and personal phone number and assumed we were done with it, and for a month and a half we were. But guess what we got a month and a half later...a past due notice from DirecTV for service during the dates we had no longer had the satellite dish. We were furious and called and complained, and the initial contact told us there were no work orders in the system and there was nothing she could do - we would have to pay the bill. We demanded a supervisor and were put on hold for 20 minutes. Finally the girl came back on and said "ok, we're going to submit a waiver." Not good enough - I demanded to actually speak to the supervisor because I wanted his name and ID number since I could pretty much guarantee that two days later no one would have any knowledge of this conversation. She puts me on hold for another ten minutes before the supervisor came on.
To add insult to injury, I asked this gentleman what we should do with our receiver boxes, and he said since we had had our contract for over a year, we owned them and could do what we wanted with them - he was actually the second person to tell su this. We have very limited closet space (as in three closets in the entire apartment) and had abolutely nowhere to put them, and contemplated selling them or pitching them if they weren't worth anything since we had no space and were literally having to lay them on the floor, but knowing DirecTV we figured we'd better hang onto them just in case. Sure enough, guess what phone call I just got today...an automated message from DirecTV saying that they're mailing two boxes for us to mail the receivers back in, and if we don't mail them back they're going to charge us $470.

I ordered Direct TV and took time off work to wait for the install
I ordered Direct TV and took time off work to wait for the install. Three hours later than scheduled and four phone calls after I was supposed to have an installer, no one called me back or showed up. The representatives on the phone only have the ability to "email" the installation company. They can not give you their phone numbers or tell you who to speak with. Three days later, my credit card has been charged for the full amount of the install and monthly charges, and no installation and no answers. I am so disgusted!

I would cancel if it were not $400.00
HORRIBLE!! I just bought a house, and called DTV for pricing. I was told to sign up for some "special pricing" for that weekend... which was an entire month before we were to move in. But I signed up anyways bc of the price. I ordered an HD DVR and 2 HD receivers... Tech came out and I made sure they were the HD receivers, he said yes. ONe month later I move in and they are NOT HD. I call and they do NOTHING for me but say I should have checked with the tech, and now I need to buy each box and they will credit my account... HORRIBLE Customer Service. Garbage.I should not have to pay for their mistake!! I would cancel if it were not $400.00.

Worst company on earth
After spending hours on the phone with Direct TV representatives I have finally resorted to this. Direct TV sent out Larry the lazy installer to my home. The ineptnes of Larry was asounding. First he left the drop ceiling tiles out of place in my elderly mother in laws room and left a heavy dinning room chair infront of the toilet in her bathroom. Marcelle is elderly and handicaped has problems moving around, muchless lifting things.
Next Lazy Larry got a phone call from the daycare center letting him know that he was late picking up his child and that they were going to charge him a dollar for every minute that he was late. What does Larry do? he rushes to get things done so he can leave as soon a possible. In his haste, Larry left the backyard fence gate open. After Larry was gone my wife let our two Labradores out the back door to play and relieve themselves. An hour later when it was time to feed them, i went to let the dogs in the house to eat. They were gone out the gate that Lazy Larry had left open. I called for them and went looking through the neighborhood for them. I found Black Jack dead in the middle of the road. Thanks to Direct TV and their Lazy Larry.

Direct TV is like many large dishonest company that tries to do everything they can to get you as a customer
Direct TV is like many large dishonest company that tries to do everything they can to get you as a customer. After that, you are treated like you are of no more importants to them. They claim to be a customer satifation company, that will do what it takes to provide great products and services. However, once you sign a contract with them, all that is out the doors. They have all kinds of fine prints in they contracts to get them out of every situations. You will never feel more stuck to stay with a company you hate so much because of the outrageous cancellation fees they put on you. If you don't get receptions because of a storm, well too bad..its not their problem, because they don't have any control over it. Thats their exact words. They won't issue a work order to fix the problem either, because their systems won't allow it during a storm. How ever long the bad weather is, thats how long you will be without TV..while you are still paying for their service.

I will never be involved with directv again
DirecTv is a horrible company. I have not one good thing to say about them. I moved locations and they weren't able to transfer the service as there was no line of sight, however, i still was sent a $200 statement for an early cancellation fee. I called on multiple occasions to have this reversed as it was not my fault, and by 3 separate managers I was told these charges were being taken off of my account and I had nothing to worry about. Next thing you know, I am sent to collections for this exact same fee. When I called to speak to another manager, they told me there was nothing they could do and I would have to write a letter of appeal, which I did and heard nothing back.
How is it that a company can still be in business after treating their customers so horribly? Cheap way to make money and I will never be involved with directv again!

Not a large rip off, but a rip off and misrepresentation all the same
A Directv rep called and offered 90 days of Showtime free (they are doing a 2-for-1 deal and since I already have STARZ, my second Premium channel was added for free). Just got my bill, with all their partial-month charges, then partial-month credits plus current month charges, my "Free" channels cost $4.40. Not a large rip off, but a rip off and misrepresentation all the same. If only a million of their customers took the "Free" offer, they just made $4, 000, 000 Bucks with their lie.

Direct Tv- such a bad experience
Direct Tv- such a bad experience. I am a new customer. Initially I talked to 7 different people got 7 different prices. I was on the phone 2 hours. They promised rebates off your D-tv bill and AT&T bill. So I went and signed up for my rebated when my bill came it was not on there.
So I called in to get it fixed was on the phone another 30 mins. Had to ask to speak to a supervisor to get them to give me the rebate. Then I found out that I had to call AT&T for their supposed discount. They informed me that I had a basic phone line and therefore did not qualify for the discount. So there is some false advertising going on with D-TV. So not happy with this company!! They lied and they have employees that do not speak english so getting help is not really possible. I wonder if that is on purpose, I think so. Now I'm stuck in a 2 year contract, that they did not disclosed while I was signing up (for 2 hours). Only found out that tidbit of info after the fact. My suggestion is to stay with comcast or try dish network.
