In order to watch the games I need to fork over an additional $12.99
I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am with DirecTV .

When I first got DirecTV it was because they were the only service in the area that carried Versus. (Guess how that went?)

Now I'm under contract to stay with DirecTV, which wouldn't be such a huge problem... EXCEPT...

I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area, my favorite NHL team is the Pittsburgh Penguins. DirecTV negotiated with the NHL so that Cleveland is considered in the "area" of Pittsburgh and Columbus. Which is fine, except that the only sports channel that I receive is based out of Columbus. Thus any nationally televised game that is also televised "locally" in the Pittsburgh area is blacked out for me.

In order to watch the games I need to fork over an additional $12.99.

But really the best part about this whole situation is that I've been told by two separate DirecTV customer service people that I shouldn't have this problem and that they'd be more then happy to make sure this doesn't occur in the future.

Only to later be told that no, indeed I am not in the area for the Pittsburgh networks, but that I am in the area for Pittsburgh sports.

Contract
Signed a 2 year Contract in June 2008 and thought my contract would be up in June 2010, Now I find that because I changed Equipment in Jan 2009 that started my 2 years all over again. There is an addendum in the contract that says if you make any changes to the equipment your contract starts from that date all over even if you only had 1 month left, no one ever made me aware of this nor did the installer tell me of this when he installed the system. I have spoken to several supervisors without any satisfaction I want out of my contract in June and it is obvious that they intent for people to fall in this trap.

If you don't want to face nightmare in dealing w/ this type of screw up, stay away from Direct TV
DirectTV Acct belonging to another person with the same name as me living in a different state with a past due acct was reported as mine incorrectly by Direct TV. I've had an active Direct-TV account prior to this other acct first opened and I've never missed a payment. Direct-TV refuses to deal with this issue directly and correct their mistake linking another acct/name with my acct. I've contacted both the collection agency, Allied Interstate, and Equfax, and they are both saying Direct-TV needs to initiate the request to correct this error as they are the original creditor. However, they refuses to cooperate and correct this blatant error. Unbelieveable! If you don't want to face nightmare in dealing w/ this type of screw up, stay away from Direct TV.

Direct TV doesn't give a damn about the customer
When you sign up for DTV, you sign a contract for 18 months, but the contract is only good for them, the customer has no rights. You sign up for a package, with a certain amount of channels that you want, but they can pull a channel from your package when ever they want, and will not lower your monthly bill. I called customer service and could get no satisfaction from some so called supervisor. Also the first agent was snotty and rude. Direct TV doesn't give a damn about the customer.

Probably the worst company on earth
I just had direct TV installed 5 days ago to watch NFL. The only reason I signed up with direct tv because they are the only one that will play New England team since we're living in Wyoming. In the last 5 days, I thought I could enjoy watching my $70.00 a month service with no problem. Every other night my boyfriend and I have to make a phone call to the tech support for problem after problem. The FINALE of the issue is that we don't have any signal at all, and spoke to 4 different customer service tech support and trouble shoot the problem but NADA!!! They said the soonest they can send somebody to take a look is not until 2 weeks from now. Yeah...so you get the point!!

Dishonest billing and record keeping
I have just been advised that I can not receive a refund from DTV for pre-paid NFL Sunday Ticket or ESPN Gameplan eventhough my admittedly old receiver is now (as of this year) no longer able to receive these packages. There was no prior notice. I do have a newer receiver in my bedroom (where I really want to have my friends and family hang and watch the big games), so apparently I'm screwed. There is no way to replace my old receiver b/c of my giant entertainment system - the DTV tech already has been there and said.

So, bottom line = DTV has my $, and I got no programming. nice.

So divorced from their customers
Obviously these guys are out of touch with today's social media and the ability of the "herd to be heard". We've been with them years and when we have problems and go to lengths to explain and complain and detail all the outages, they offer us $10.00 bucks credit! This from a company we pay over an average of $85/mth

These guys are so divorced from their customers it's a wonder everyone doesn't abandon then like we are planning on doing.

They lie to you on the phone over and over
There service on the phone and in person is the worst i have ever seen.Being self employed myself iknow i would have been out of buisness if i treated people like they do. They lie to you on the phone over and over. They tell you the tec.s will be at your house between 1:00 and 4:00 one day and it maybe 1 or 2 days latter with no phone call to let you know.

They are very expensive and their customer service is the worst
DirectTV is one the worst companies I've ever dealt with. They signed me up for NFL season ticket without my permission or request. I called to ask them to remove it and they refused which can only be considered stealing. This company stole approximately $300 from me.

They are more expensive than the competition. It's just a fact.

The service itself is inferior - If the weather is bad you will not be watching TV. It just the limitation of the satellite technology.

Customer service is terrible. Random charges. Long wait times. When we scheduled installation the technician didn't show up the first day. Then didn't bring a latter tall enough for our roof on the reschedule. Then drilled a hole in the side of our house that was large and very visible. Then filled it in terribly with silicone.

Please take your business elsewhere!
