Even worse then Comcast
I switched from Comcast to get NFL Sunday Ticket, on 8/31/09. Premier Package is "supposed" to include every channel, ((except PPV) - it doesn't), and include 5 months of Sunday Ticket. I got NFL S/T last week but all the channels say "NOT PURCHASED", this week. I called the "Preferred Customer Care phone # they gave me. It referred me to another #. The computer couldn't find me by either my phone # or Account number. After finally getting the computer to transfer me to a "real" person - I sat on hold for 20 minutes. I gave up. Direct TV is no more competent than Comcast - maybe worse!! Try the Dish. If I wasn't "locked in", I would.

Awful customer service
In installation of dvr box the tech killed our phone line in some manner. Direct tv will not acknowledge that it was at fault and will not do anything about it but pass the buck. In talking to the employees who answer 1-800-531-5000 both a.m. and p.m. it appears to me that they have been instructed to acknowledge nothing and help with little.

Poor customer service, poor quality, and poor business practices
Cancelled DirecTv due to poor customer service, poor quality, and poor buisness parctices EVEN THOUGH I knew the cancellation fee would be THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS PLUS.

Making monthly payments on the cancelation fee, I called and authorized DirecTv to charge 40 dollars to my debit card. The following morning I had a charge for 180 dollars to my account.

When I called DirecTV to to complain, the first call I was hung up on, the second call I was told a supervisor was unavailable and there was nothing they could do as I had authorized the paymant, when I asked for copies of the recoreded phone conversation they said they had none, the third call said it would take between 8-16 buisness days to refund the 140.00.

DirecTv is essentially stealing, as they were only authorized 40 dollars. I have filed a complaint with the BBB.

Charges after canceled account
I discontinued my DirecTV service on July 28, 2009. I returned my equipment and received a final bill on 8/4/2009. Today (09/14/2009) I received a past due notice for $43.96. When I looked up what these charges were for, they appeared to be for pay per view movies charged on 9/4/09. Since I did not have the equipment there was no way I could have watched these movies. When I called to question the charges, I was told that these were charges for pay per view movies from June of 2007. I did order some pay per view movies right after I started the your service, but these were paid for back in July 2007. Now you are trying to charge me for them again. Since my account is not active I can't pull up the payment and billing history to review these charges.
The 3 calls I made went without answer, and it was not a surpise that I was hanged up on when asked to speak to a supervisor NOT ONCE BUT TWICE.

When I did speak with a supervisor and stated the payment would not be made till I received all paper statements / billing from June 2007.

This company stole money out of my account
This company stole money out of my account on Sept 5th. They said i never returned a receiver which i did. They found the receiver and apologized and said the money should have never been taken out and that it would be returned within 3-4 business days. Here it is 6 days later and i still do not have my money and now they are telling me that there is no proof that they took it out. I called my bank and they have the transaction but cannot legally fax any account information to them. So right now i am out $436.26 which is crap. How do i get my money back-i have bill's that are late and will have incurred the fees because of their "mistake" how can i make them Pay?

although I pay for the service I can't actually enjoy it
I got direct tv installed about five days ago, mostly sold on their customer support base. Well, my dvr has simply quit on me, it just won't turn on and i am told it needs to be changed, however now I have to wait two days and on top I have to pay 19.99 for the shipping and handeling. On top of it all, as I tried speaking to a supervisor or manager one was not available because it was to close to 1:00am. So I guess you're thinking it's ok I deal with my frustration until morning, and although I pay for the service I can't actually enjoy it.

Well shame on you direct tv...

Direct TV is a rip off! While the CEO makes tons of money figuring ways that they can scam and cheat the American Public! We are donign the reps jobs on teaching them about customer service and refunds and all other aspects it takes to talk and satisfy customers. I don't get any of this money! And I am training them! But yet Direct TV is so quick to cheat you and tell you it was in writing (Somewhere and you will have to look for it if you can and if you can't use a magic crayon to reveal it!)

I am astonished at what DirecTV considers customer service and how I’ve been treated
I am an AT&T employee. I have had direct TV for almost 3 years. I have had multiple problems since the beginning. I have never ever experienced such horrible customer service and product quality. I don't recommend Direct TV to my enemies Direct TV was not helpful at all offered 5.00 off for 6 months. In this economy and due to competitive market conditions, you would think that Direct TV would fall hand over fist to keep their valued customers but this is not true. I signed up service to receive a free potable DVD player. Never received it … my employee discount was never added…..My receiver box went out…… I have been hung up on by your reps….lied too by your reps…poor customer service .been without service multiple times because of miss information or equipment not working…defective. Not to mention every time it rains my service stops working…..I pay an extra 10.00 for HD access monthly and my service had been out for 8 days. I called and stayed on the phone for over an hour unplugging and screwing wires only to find out some piece of equipment was not working properly. It took some more days for a tech to come out and replace it. I was given 2.67 credit and I also had another credit because my service call was not placed. Today actually took the cake…Was transferred to multiple people and then hung up on while on hold. Another 20 minutes down the drain!! I called in to pay my bill and as I was holding noticed my AT&T discount was only $5.00. I looked on our website to verify the discount and it states 10.00. When the rep came on the line I informed her of the discrepancy and she explained to me that my discount went down because of my other discount…..That has nothing to do with that. This is a separate situation. I then informed her of my troubles with direct TV and how im billing over 100 a month and had been without service for almost 2 weeks and etc. I had AT&T and direct TV on the phone together and each kept blaming the other for the problems. I then asked to speak with a supervisor that informed me I was placed on a contract when my box went out and I can’t cancel the services without being penalized. Informed the supervisor Lakeia 33541 that I never signed a contract or agreed to one. She stated I was placed on one when my box went out. That is FRAUD…SCAM and UNAUTHORIZED ….How can you put someone on a contract without there knowledge and I pay 5.00 every month for 3 additional boxes. I am supposed to notify you all if it’s not working properly. I do not nor did I agree to be placed on a contract with Direct TV. I should not be charged due to your company’s faulty equipment. I did not upgrade and I don’t have a DVR. I have never signed an agreement…ever. I am tired of talking and holding on the line for the incompetent service reps that don’t have customer service skills. This is a shame….No customer should have to go through all this turmoil and trials for a service they are paying for. I want someone with common sense to please contact me and rectify the situation. I am filing a complaint with the better business bureau as well. I feel as though direct TV is not taking me serious and the issues just keep adding up. I should not make multiple calls in order to have a tech come to my house and restore my service… I should not be without HD access for 8 days… I should not be talked down too and told to pay my bill and maybe I will see the correct discount on the next bill…..My bill and my discounts should have been applied to my last bills…I should not have to take time out my day to type a letter explaining the terrible customer service I have received.. Sad part this is not the first problem I’ve encountered with your company but hopefully it will be the last. I can only say that in my many experiences with the customer service departments of many organizations, I am astonished at what DirecTV considers customer service and how I’ve been treated.

55.00 charge was put on my bill for a phony service that was never performed
I am a customer who just got off the phone arguing with direct tv whom i just foound out that i was being double billed every month over 100.00 for basic cable, i am furious and i am now getting ready to start a class action against direct tv. I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS WOULD BE GOING ON, IT WAS KEPT FROM ME . i started out with a 45.00 plan for 12 months, and after that i would be only charged 54.00 a month for basic cable the bill got higher and higher and was turned off today after i mailed in a 75.00 payment on the 1st, and not only that a 55.00 charge was put on my bill for a phony service that was never performed.
