Dishonest billing and record keeping
I had my Direct TV canceled, my choice, and a month later received the boxes to return the receivers with a note explaining I had to return these boxes within 7 days which I did. But Direct TV charged my account before the 7 days and now my checking account is in arrears, and I have to make up the $99 plus two check I wrote not knowing these a-holes were going to charge my account. When I spoke with Tony #U5748 he said it would take them up to 8 weeks to refund my money even though it was their fault. He said he would check and see why they bill me too soon. Yea like I can wait 8 weeks to even my bank account out. I am a working stiff and I can not afford to wait.

Can't wait until my contract is up to get rid of them once and for all
If you are thinking about switching to Direct TV like I did, DON'T. The installation is horrendous, hidden fees everytime you call, service is the worse and then you are stuck for 2 years. Never got our rebate and referal money. When you call they will tell what you want to hear and then send a letter a month letter taking it all back. The red tape you have to go through in order to speak to someone in charge is amazing. Can't wait until my contract is up to get rid of them once and for all.

100% customer dissatisfaction
I recently contacted DirecTV to cancel my subscription. I purchased it through a Verizon bundle and was told it was a one year agreement. I now need to pay an early termination fee of $200+. The customer service manager HUNG UP on me after she was extremely rude and I informed her that I was the Customer. I then wrote to the Office of the President and received a call today and it seems that they really don't care either how their customer service treats their clients. Given what I have read on this website and others, customer service is not a priority and that 100% Customer Dissatisfaction should be their motto.

Misrepresentations
Made arrangements to disconnect the service and choose another service provider and they will continue to store information in a database prohibiting customers from selecting another reseller or supplier of DirecTV services over a two-year period example AT&T provides DirecTV services they will block your address your name your telephone number preventing you from getting bundled services from one of their license resellers of their own product sounds like Russia to me somewhat of the tell you who your service providers want to be they are way out of control.

I have told all my friends to not go with Direct TV
I have been a customer of Direct tv since May of 2009. I thought I would save money having this service. One of my favorite stations has changed without notice mind you, I no longer am able to get the British series Eastenders and the Sherlock Holmes series because my Direct tv station chose a different pbs station package. I would rather pay more to get these programs than to save money with what I now have. Lots of e-mails back and forth but no solution. My pbs station broadcasts ballroom dancing for over 12 hours in a row on Saturdays. All the other outlets i.e. Comcast, Cox, Dish Networth etc have the same programs yet Direct tv chose another package. I was misled by this company and can not wait to cancel. It is a big penalty to cancel within 2years of your contract so I am counting the days on a calendar. I have told all my friends to not go with Direct tv.

Rude and doesn't honor coupons
Tired of my DirecTV shutting down, being told I would have to pay for an HDTV box to receive HD service and receiving poor service, I intended to leave DirecTV. I spoke to a customer service rep who, in an attempt to keep us, sent us a coupon for a free PPV movie. We watched the movie but chose to close our account anyway. The bill came with the charge for the movie after we closed the account. We had a credit on our account but also had the coupon for the movie. DirecTV would not honor the coupon because we had closed our account. When I asked, so you are not going to honor the coupon for the movie we were charged for, the rep said "No, not unless you reopen the account with us" He then accused me of "playing games..." with him. I told him I was not playing games with him, I just wanted credit for the coupon I was sent. He got nasty and hung up on me. I still have yet to see the a check for the credit balance. I'm glad I am no longer with DirecTV. I left due to poor customer service and this rep reenforced my opinion.

Direct TV places little value on existing customers
Apparently Direct TV places little value on existing customers. Promotions are readily available to attract new customers, but once you are a Direct TV customer expect to pay more for fewer channels and the use of older equipment. A new customer gets a larger channel package, 5 free months of movie channels and newer equipment, including a DVD HD, for less money than you pay.

Direct TV expects loyal and long time customers to continue using older equipment, have LESS channel viewing options and still pay MORE per month than they would if they were a new customer. If an existing customer wants the HD DVD that is offered for free to new customers, they are required to pay a $199.00 fee.

Where is the fairness and equality of this business practice and philosophy?

I was charged for something that should be standard
I have been a Direct TV subscriber for more than a decade now. Mostly because of their monopoly on the NFL Sunday Ticket. Last year I purchased the HD receiver and found that the games were not in HD so I called and ask why. After talking to the Rep. I was given access to HD football games. For this year, I'm told that in order to enjoy game in HD I would have to pay an additional $16 per month. I already pay $6 per month for the HD receiver and $10 per month for HD access fee. That's a total of $32 per month for HD.

My question to the Rep. this time was, why am I being charged for something that should be standard. CBS and Fox Sports broadcast in HD! If the local channels are already in HD, then why would I pay additional for superfan? Then she goes to explain all the bells and whistles. I don't care for redzone mix and 8 games @ once. I want to watch the channels in HD and I shouldn't have pay additional for what is already broadcasted HD.

What a scam this company is
Directv put me into collections and no service rep or manager has the power to rectify this simple problem. I went to Dish 1 year ago and directv said they turned on my service about Jan 2009 and I owe $95 for that service. I told them they owe me $11.06 when I canceled a yr ago. They say my only alternative is to write a letter to them and be at their mercy. I told them no equipment was hooked up their dish!!! What a scam this company is. They can't have a rep or manager rectify something that is so easy make right...

Regret using their services
I have been a loyal customer for over 6 years. My HD DVR went out and they want me to pay $20 for S&H. What ever happen to standing behind your product that I pay a monthly service for faithfully. They refuse to waive the fee so Cox Communications here I come. I will follow my mother. She had Direct TV and she switched. Mother knows best.
