STOLE MY MONEY
I ordered DirecTV for my mother's room in a Nursing Home where that was the only available service. I ordered basic service, no DVR. As soon as the Tech installed it and gave us the remote I knew this would not work for her. The remote had a lot of buttons that were for use with a DVR. My mother has Alzheimers and would NEVER understand those buttons. I called that day and cancelled the service. They allegedly give you 24 hours to cancel without obligation which I did. About a week later, they STOLE $460 out of my checking account. I have called 3 times and while they admit they should not have done it, they won't tell me when I will get my money back. I am unemployed and need that money!!! You can't get to any one with any authority to help. THIS COMPANY SUCKS SO BAD it is UNBELIEVABLE.
IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT SIGNING A 2 YEAR CONTRACT WITH THESE ASSHOLES, RUN AWAY!!!

bundled w/ATT Lied now stuck in contract w/no service ,they subed sales 2 AT&T bundle& all questions i asked was lied 2
I called AT&T to get price & info on adding directv to my bundle.We weren't sure which sat to go with.I called AT&T since i'm a very long time costomer.Every ? I asked was staight out lied to.No contract can cancel at any time, when I said go down to 3 boxes instead of 4 grandson not here all time.was told hold on ok got it worked out no charge on that it will be included free!She just kept giving me a better deal till I said Yes add direcTV.What a mistake!!!Survice goes out finally got tech out here & he found a few problems he fixed that was with their workmanship & charge $49.95 for service call.Aprox 3 months later this time will not reset.CS said bad weather it was drizzlin, sunshine 2day & still no service.Want$49.95 to come out & fix.No way we are able to reset dish if needed or dry any fitting that could get wet, We didn't move the dish, satilite in sky or make it rain.But they insist gotta pay them 2 come even if probl is on thier end.worst service ever!!they get your cc# then nothin you can do!How can we stop this fraud??

unauthorized charges
I had Directv for 4 years. When I switched to AT&T U-verse, I called Directv to cancel my service.There was no talk of any contractual obligations, but they told me I could suspend my account without cost for 3 months, just in case U-verse didn't work out.
Without any warning, Directv then debited my checking account for $412. I had never given them this checking account number as a deposit, and had only used it each month to pay my bill. This happened in Oct 2009. I called and spoke to a rep who admitted it was a mistake...but I got no refund. Called again, different rep, said she had no idea, nothing was annotated to my account. So I got an attorney to investigate and he was told by another rep that no one had ever called to make a complaint !
Ten weeks later I have my refund and it is my life's mission to make Directv's life hell !

Worst company on earth
I signed up for Direct TV accepting a promotional offer which has turned out to be my costly to me in phone calls, e-mails and my time. I have sent numerous e-mails to customer service and the response is possitive but I cannot get them to credit my account. I am tired and fed up with the situation and would just like to end it now. I never in my life had such a response from any customer service department. ABSOLUTELY and TOTALLY ENEPT.

Worst company on earth
I was getting ready to order Direct TV through their internet site. Then stopped to see if they had complaints. They have 1000's of complaints. Never seen so many complaints except against Earthlink (another scum) THANK YOU FOLKS FOR POSTING YOUR STORIES. YOUR TIME DID NOT GO TO WAIST posting. I will NOT be a customer of Direct TV after all. I'm so glad us 'little people' have the Internet to protect us and people speak up. Otherwise, can you imagine what these scum companies would get away with. Thanks again for posting!

I signed up two-year agreement with Direct in December 2007. I have been paying Protection Plan for $5.99 per month since then. In Septebmer 2009, my DVR broke. I called their Service Department to report faulty equipment. They offered a free replacement which was covered by the Protection Plan.
Now, the two-year agreement is over. I call their Service for any special offer if I want to sign another two-year agreement. They said by the time I requested for the equipment replacement, my agreement was automatically extended for another 24 months starting at the month of the replacement.
Firstly, I was not told that I need to extend my service agreement for another 24 months because of the equipment replacement. Secondly, what is the point of paying the protection plan? This kind of business practice is very unfair to consumers.
So, what they are saying is if any consumers of Directv have equipment failure within the service agreement, two options only.
(a) Keep paying the monthly bill without replacement until the original service agreement is over.
(b) Consumers can ask for replacement. However, a new 24 months agreement will be effective once the replacement is done.
I cannot believe a big Company like Directv will engage in such deceptive practices. I will submit my complaint to Consumer Affair and see what they can do with Directv.

ACCESSING CREDIT REPORT
RECEIVED A LETTER FROM PRIVACY ASSIST, THROUGH BANK OF AMERICA THAT SAID DIRECTV RAN A CREDIT REPORT ON ME. I DO NOT HAVE DIRECTV, I DID NOT ORDER DIRECTV, I DID NOT AUTHORIZE DIRECTV TO CHECK MY CREDIT.<br />
I CALLED DIRECT WANTING TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AS TO WHY THEY ACCESSED MY CREDIT. I WAS FORWARDED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHICH BY THE WAY THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE W/DIRECTV. A MAN WHO SAID HIS NAME WAS ELVIS, SAID TO FAX A COPY OF THE LETTER TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER...THE FAX # HE GAVE ME DID NOT WORK, THE EMAIL NEVER WENT ANYPLACE.<br />
HOW IS IT THAT A COMPANY CAN JUST RUN A CREDIT REPORT WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION???

I went on line to an answer a add for a deal on DirectTv, They called me and I wanted to singe up.I asked them if I would get local channels for my area, they said yes at the end of our conversation I ask again do I get my local stations in my area they said most definetly, so I singed up.DirectTv came out and hooked me up, turned on the tv and no local channels.called them 36 hours after the fact they told me what to do, send back all the equipment and a letter stating why I wanted to cancel so I did.They tured it over to a collection agency my credit has beem damaged.Be awaire of corporate scams, they will blam us for ther incompetence.I will notify the Attorny General, my Congressman, and the better BBB.

Very unhappy
I'm very unhappy to discover that PPV is now only 24 hrs. and I want to know why. I hope somebody can clear this up for me. I used to order a lot of PPV movies mainly for the caption affect and was able to save on my TiVo till I was ready to watch it but now that is not an option.

Bait and switch
So many complaints so little time. Anyway the biggest problem is they said I agreed to a two year commitment. Their is NO chance that I would agree to anything for two years much less one year. I asked them to show me the proof. They said they would and of course they didin't send or have any proof. So when I canceled my service with DirecTV they took $340 directly out of my checking account with zero authoriztion. It would be one messed up world if we could just tell someone that you agreed to something and then take the money without any paper or verbal evidence. Oh and the price they gave me to sign-up was also Lower much lower than the actual bill.. Doug Freundschuh Prior Lake MN.
