Unauthorized billing!
Directv took 399.00 dollars out of my account without my authorization. I pay my daughter-n-law bill for her only three times and her services were disconnected and she must have left owing them a balanced. I only was helping her because she didn't have a debit card. I have never did any business with that tv company and never will. That should not have no right to go into my money and take it. My name could not have been on her account. We live at separate residence. My husband has already contacted BBB and we are waiting to here from them. I am going to contact me a lawyer on Tuesday to see what he says. This can't be legal. They were always telling me they were going to refund my money back and all of a sudden they have changed their mind.

Deceptive policy
When I ordered the service I was told that I could cancel within the first month and not be liable for early termination. I canceled in the first week. They now claim that the cancellation must happen within the first 3 days of service. I was never told this. The email confirmation for the new service doesn't state that either. When I asked about cancelling in the first month they only said yes. What they should have said is "yes, but within the first 3 days". They use deceptive tactics to hide this policy. I have requested to dispute this charge but I never got a call to have the opportunity to dispute. They are now threatening collection and reporting to credit bureaus.

Unauthorized use of debit card!
Just like everyone else i was victim of Directv taking unauthorized money from my bank account causing overdrafts. After several calls and emails to customer service i have not received a very good response from them. I would hope that anyone who continues to use there service get a card with low amount and put just enough in it for billing purpose. I fail to see how they can justify and get away with using a card number without permission. If I was the one to do this I would be in Jail for theft. They are a terrible company with very poor and unprofessional customer service, including David, the sissy that hangs up.

Will not refund money
Cancelled service 6-16-07. Had been paying by visa credit card auto pay plan. It is 9-26-07 now. Have contacted directv numerous times as to refund of credit money. They promise a check in the mail, never comes. I would expect my visa account to be credited but no,not even that. Isnt that unethical business practice? I would imagine thousands of customers in this situation with directv earning money on others unpaid refunds also. I was a customer for over 11 years!

Incompetent customer service, can't get rebates
DIRECTV should be brought up on charges! I have found hundreds of complaints on the internet and wonder why they are still in business! DIRECTV is the worse company I have ever had to deal with!
I signed up for Directv in March 2007 and have had so many problems that I'm taking my case to a lawyer. It is now September and I've had it! They have failed to fulfill their obligations and I refuse to pay their contract termination fees! Which I was told would be $900.00! That right! $150.00 per standard receiver, $300.00 for premium equipment (DVR) and $12.50 per month of the unfulfilled contract!
I have kept notes and a call log on every problem so I could write pages of complaints but here is a summary:
I have spent an average of 3 hours a week on the phone with DIRECTV for the past 6 months, which adds up to about 80 hours. This doesn't include all the hours "on hold" or calling back after being disconnected!
I was wrongly charged for installation, per DIRECTV, but can't get a refund.
I can't get any of the rebates that were promised! My service has been terrible and they want to charge me to come out to fix it!
My DVR, which is leased so it's their equipment, didn't work and I was charged $20.00 to get a new one! I received the new DVR on 8/20/07 and on 9/17/07 found out that they had extended my contract by 6 months, claiming that my service started new with the activation of the new DVR!
Their equipment is cheap, non responsive, and the guide is so blurry that it's difficult to read (and I have a new TV, as well as, new glasses!!!) I have been charged for returned equipment and told it was because I didn't return it quickly enough! It was mailed the day after I received the Return Authorization, box, and shipping label, WHICH I HAD TO REQUEST 2 TIMES!
DIRECTV customer service is terribly rude and completely incompetent! I have been lied to and disconnected so many times I believe it's done intentionally!
I signed up for DIRECTV through Qwest and DIRECTV customer service has told me to contact Qwest with my service complaints! I was also referred to Qwest by DIRECTV's automated message system.
Qwest confirmed that DIRECTV is referring a large number of their service complaints to Qwest although Qwest has nothing to do with DIRECTV service.

The worst organization I have ever had service from
The satellite constantly goes out, nickel and dime you for all services, each time you get an upgrade of equipment (even when the equipment is faulty) they extend your service agreement without your consent with threat of a penalty if you decide to switch to another company. I did not have a choice of the agreement extension. They automatically extend my NFL package each year without my permission. I contacted customer service today. No one answers the phone. Customer service is the least educated and most unprofessional I have ever seen. Generally a charge is associated with speaking with customer service. When COX gets a deal with the NFL, I am going back. They are the best. The only good thing to say about directv is the NFL package. When service is down and they must send someone to your home it usually takes 2 weeks or they send everything in the mail to your home for you to do it yourself. Of course, a charge is usually associated with a service call. They truly are the worst organization I have ever had service from.

Poor service!
I am so sorry I changed from DisH to this crappy alternative. I called the customer retention dept to complain about no DVD player & after telling me they never recv'd by form w/ 1st months bill to claim it I was told I would receive the DVD player in 3 weeks. I explained that if I didn't recv it I was considering it a breach of contract on their part & going back to Dish. We'll see...

Directv does not honor rebate sales promise
Subscribed to Direct TV about a month ago. Was told over the phone that the Family plan would cost $29.99/month with $100 cash back and that I would get $10 credit per month for the next 10 month. Also subscribed for Three channels of Premium Mandarin channels for an additional $15.99/month.
Was told that my total charges excluding taxes would be $19.99 + $15.99 = $35.98 / month for the first 10 month and $29.99 + $15.99 = $45.98 thereafter.
Guess what - got my first bill recently and noted the charges to be $29.99 + $15.99 = $45.98 + tax with "No Rebates"! Call DirecTV customer service and after a prolonged wait I finally get to speak to a service representative. They checked my account and told me that there are no records for the $10 credit for the next 10 month offer and that there is nothing they could do. Asked to speak to a customer service manager but was put on hold for over 15 minutes which I eventually hung up.
If I have to do this again, I would not want to deal with DirecTV. Does not deliver on sales promise and a customer service that sucks. But boy am I stuck with DirecTV or risk paying for the hefty early termination fees!

Billed for 7 adult movies that I did not order
Was billed for 7 adult movies that I did not order. These movies were ordered by an unauthorized minor while I was out of state working. All I asked was for the charges for the movies be removed. I was told by a supervisor that they could not be removed or credited and I had to pay for them. Guess what, I am now refusing to pay anything until they remove them!

Poor service!
I canceled service to our RV over a year ago. The CS rep insisted that she be permitted to "suspend" the service in case we might want to install DirecTV at our house. I assured her we would not because of programming available on cable and not via Satellite. She assured me that we would be contacted later and that we could officially cancel then. Instead, DirecTV started billing our credit card in March. I have been trying since April to get the money refunded. I was first told it could not be reversed and taken off the credit card; it would have to come to me in the form of a check and it would take 6 to 8 weeks. I waited 6 weeks to call back and was told "Wait another 2 weeks." It didn't come. I called again. I was told that it could be taken off my credit card. A credit showed up but was $35.68 short. I called again. After demanding a supervisor, I was told that this sort of complaint had to be in writing. I wrote. I received a reply on July 2 that the refund had been requested on June 29 and that the "escalation" would take 10 to 14 business days. I waited. Another $5 was credited to my credit card. I wrote again and demanded that someone call me. On July 25, someone did!! She assured me that she had entered a credit that would go on my credit card within 6 to 10 business days. It didn't. I wrote again. I was told to call the 1-800 number to get help. This is the same number that I called and was told it had to be handled by e-mail. I demanded a supervisor and was told that she was requesting a refund to my credit card for the balance of $30.68. I'm to wait another 6 to 10 business days!!!
This is the most incompetent company I've ever dealt with. STAY AWAY FROM DIRECTV SERVICE.
