Disaster Aid Kits Reviews

John Hunt February 10, 2010
Theft
Looked like a good email site selling a needed product. Wrong. The offer is for a disaster kit, to be prepared. A good idea in these times. The site plays up current disasters floods, earthquakes, storms, etc. You are supposed to get a 10 day inspection period for $1, small print states 10 days starts when kit mailed and shipping may take 10 days. If not canceled within the 10 day time frame you are charged full price. Full price not given. I took a chance since Ca is not that far away. I ordered kit on 12/15/09 and had to give my debit card # to cover charge. I continued to receive the spam ads every work day( Mon-Fri). On Jan 20th 2010 I sent an email to their cust serv dept asking them to check on my order. I received an email from them on 1/27/10 confirming my 12/15/09 order and apologizing for neglecting to do their part. They said they would ship the kit with no additional costs to me, there was no mention of the intended shipping date. That evening I returned an email asking them how this was to affect the 10 day inspection period since I had no idea when the kit would be shipped and stating I did not think that I should be held to the 10 day period since I had already waited 36 days and it had not been shipped yet. I also told them I was a disabled person living on Social Security and would need to see the kit first. I received no reply to this email. I finally received the kit on Feb 06 2010, 17 days from my last email contact with cust serv. The 6th of Feb is a Saturday they are not open on Saturday afternoon nor Sunday. I called and canceled as instructed on 2/09/10. I was told I would have to email support for a RMA( return merchandise authorization} number. Now here is where the con or fraud comes in, before I could type out this email I received an email from the support dept. stating my account was closed and I would not be billed any additional funds. What I did not know was that as soon as I called they had billed by debit card $104. for the kit. There was no intention on their part of allowing me to return the kit. This is a con that must be stopped. Look at the web site. You will see it uses scare tactics to get people to want to look at this kit. The kit is just cheap stuff you can buy anywhere and no way is it worth anywhere near $104. I have tried to get the company to refund my money, but they have ignored all my attempts to contact them. Due to their underhanded tactics I am now overdrawn at the bank and an additional $20 in the red in NSF charges. Please get this information out so they do not do this to someone else. I have kept all emails, but do not know how to attach to this complaint.
