false advertisement and trying to poke my eyes!!!
I had seen on the television Dish Network advertiseing their promotional deal on april 6, 2009: it was 100 channels for $9.99 a month for 6months which included HBO and Starz free for 3months. So I went ahead and called Dish Network to set up an account (at that time I thought they had a good deal) so i spoke with a Dish Network representative, told them the plan i was interested in so they got all my information did a credit check and then told me that i had qualified and that all they needed from me was $150 down payment for the satellite equipment but didnt need a deposit from me(just for reference my mom was on three way with me because she used her debit card to pay for the equipment). So i went ahead and payed the $150 over the phone then they gave me the installation date they went over my plan briefly telling me what it included which was an extra reciever box for any room two dvrs and free installation. They didnt install my services until april 17, 2009 the technician came out and installed everything smoothly he had some papers for me to look over and sign explaining my plan then when he was done with the installation he then went over those papers with me explaining my plan he told me to sign and initial them then he began to advise me about when the HBO and STARZ free 3months were up to call Dish Network and let them know that i no longer wanted the HBO or STARZ because they would begin charging me for them. Well 2weeks had passed and i had recieved my first bill it stated i owed $98.00 i was caught off guard i then called Dish Network and told them that there has to be some kind of misunderstanding and asked to speak with a supervisor the supervisor then got on the phone and i began to explain the problem on how the plan i had shouldnt have come anywhere close to that amount she then told me that the plan i had originally applied for (which was the 100 channels for $9.99 a month and the HBO and STARZ free for 3months) was denied she then claimed i didnt qualify for that plan and that they have me for the basic rate plan for the 100 channels which was $40.99 and they were charging me for HBO and STARZ and they wanted me to pay for 2months in advance i was very upset when i had heard that i told the supervisor that when were they planning on notifying me about the sudden change and that i couldnt believe they had went behind my back and changed my plan making me think i was under the plan i had wanted i then told the supervisor that they had from april 6 (the day i had set an account with them) to april 17 to let me know the change or the fact that i didnt qualify for that plan I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED! on top of that the technician had given me papers to sign stateing my plan when i had let the supervisor know that she then told me the technician was misinformed and had the wrong paper work i was furious i then told her dont you both work for the same company how would he be misinformed if he has paper work stating my address my name my phone number and the type of plan i was under. plus they also had plenty of time as well from April 6th to april 17th to send the technician with the accurate paper work. That supervisor was no help at all she was very rude and uncooperative i told her i was not going to pay for something i didnt even want to begin with and if i would have known i didnt qualify for the plan i had originally wanted i would have discontinued my services with them before i had gotten installed with the satellite equipment. they then sent me two more bills a month later one for $138.00 then the last bill was for $46.71 i had noticed they had deducted some things from the $138 bill and ended up with the $46.71 price then i had noticed that their phone book advertisement stated free 4 room system installation NO EQUIPMENT TO BUY, free digital recorder, free HD reciever, and free gift with purchase i had to pay $150 for the equipment, i never got the dvr, nor the HD reciever, nor did i get a free gift, just a rude awakening! i would like to see justice prevail from this incident because its just not right nor is it humane. they took advantage of a single mother of two babies and im very disgusted with them!

charged for "damaged" DVR
After 5 years our DVR was giving us problems. I understand that electronics don't last forever. We were charged $64.00 for "shipping and handling" for a new DVR. I was told to send the old DVR back in the box the new one came in. I did this. Two months later my bill says I owe $175.00 for a "damaged DVR". I emailed Dish and asked them about this charge. I told them that the DVR was not damaged it was just old and worn out. To my surprise I received a response that floored me. I was told that the technician reported that the DVR was damaged from animal fur. I replied that we did not own any pets and therefore this report was impossible. I told them that if they found animal fur in the DVR then maybe it happened in their warehouse. I asked them to remove the charge or show me proof of this supposed animal fur. One week and no response from them. Emailed them again today so we'll see what happens. I had a feeling I was not the 1st person this has happened to so I did a search and found this site. This excuse must be one on a list of many that they use in order to charge you in the end for your "free DVR" you get when you sign up. What an unethical company. I noticed from other complaints that they also use the "infestation of bugs" as an excuse to charge you for your "free" DVR. I guess the next step is the BBB and then the Attorney General. I'll probably have to get notorized statements from people swearing that we don't own any pets. Unreal!

customer service-company
1st-customer service rep-juile(gdc)was rude i was talking she was interupting as i was telling her why i was calling she told me that when i wanted to make a payment call back and i thought that was unprofessional and rude and customer service is reflected on the bussiness and if she talks that way to customers then i no longer recommend dish network.
2nd- I called on thursday to make a payment arrangement and spoke to 3 reps- amy and justin and finally a tim and was told no by the first 2 reps because i already had a one time extension and i told them i never called and he came back after 20+mins and tim told me as a one time curtosey that he would grant me till the 28th to pay the balance.
3rd-my services was disconnected and i called and was inquiring and that's when i spoke to rude juile(gdc) and finiallly spoke to rose(rbc)after 2 other reps and was told that i spoke to no one on thursday and no payment arrangement and so my service were disconnected and although rose did her job( she was nice, sweet and and understanding) she was still not able to help me.
the whole dish network sevice is a JOKE, LIE, AND NOT WORTHY of customers to support their company business. they are not what they advertise i would not advise a DOG to get service with DISH NETWORK...SWITHCHING TO DIRECT TV...

RIP OFF!!!
When I originally placed my order through Dish Network I was under the impression that Dish was who I placed my order through. I called 888/825-2557 to place my order. It was not disclosed to me that I was also signing a 3rd party contract. When the installation took place, the technician affixed the Dish to the exterior of the building. The association sent me a notice saying that the Dish was not allowed to be affixed to the building and that it had to be removed. The HOA charged me for the repair and for taking the Dish down. They also charged for the technician drilling through the wall of the building into the unit to get a cable through. They left me without T.V and the equipment on my patio for several days. I contacted Dish directly and they sent a rep to my unit. Again I was not aware of I Satellite at this time either. The technician tried to install the Dish on a pole on my balcony but unfortunately there are trees that are blocking the signal. He also indicated that is was not correct for the technician to drill through the walls into the unit and that he should have used the areas already constructed for cable installation . As a result I am not able to have Dish or any other satellite service installed at my residence. Up until this problem here I was receiving satisfactory service from Dish and I would still have an account with Dish if I was able.
I understand that the charge now damaging my credit in the amount of $500.00 is resulting from the installation that took place in December 2008. I have spoken with several people in the corporate office of Dish who unfortunately have turned out to not only be unable to assist me, but frankly don’t seem to care about the third party contractors they are using either. Each person I speak to is rude and hangs up the phone on me and just wants nothing to do with helping a customer in this situation. However, I did learn that their policy is this: If a customer lands in the hands of a third party then they say the customer is responsible but if you call Dish directly and they hire a sub contractor themselves then the customer is not liable to pay this installation. I learned that my call was routed to ISattelite because of the time of day in which I called . I find this to be deceiving to the customer as well as to the independent contractor like I satellite. I understand that work was performed and I agree that I Satellite deserves payment for their work. However, they are still paid by Dish for installation and if the work is done, then Dish should be held liable for sending payment to I Satellite. The customer should not held liable. It is not fair that Dish would pay I Satellite if I called them directly but they refuse to pay if somehow I am contracted with I Satellite. I have no document in writing that shows I entered into a contract with ISatellite and if there is one please send me a copy of what I signed. I have been under the impression since I called from a Dish TV commercial that I was contacting Dish. Obviously this was not the case.
I understand a circumstance if I simply did not want to continue my service with Dish. But I did try my best and exhaust my ability to try and keep my account with Dish. Although I prefer to have the service I am not able to. I have even referred 4 clients to Dish Network. I am requesting that you please void this outstanding charge and remove this derogatory account from my credit report.

Scam charges
When I signed up for Dish Network service a month ago, I also signed up for 18-month service. If you do this, they promise to void $49.99 "installation" fee. This is heavily advertised. This was the only reason I subscribed for 18 month.
I was very surprised to find soon that instead of "installation" fee they charged me "activation" fee of the same $49.99. The brochure they sent to me after I signed says that if I sign up for 18 month, they charge "activation" fee INSTEAD OF "installation" fee. I was not notified about this in advance. I was very primitively fooled. Now I cannot quit, because in order to quit I have to pay at least $240. By the way, I found channels they are selling to be not interesting. Apparently they are selling all the cheaper ones.
* BEWARE! * BEWARE! * BEWARE! * THIS IS CRAP!!! DO NOT give them your money!

Rip off company
I can't believe that Dish network is allowed to rip off people on a daily basis and nothing is done about it. I have tried to email Dish Network CEO, but unable to locate his exact email address. I have been a customer of Dish Network for 5 years, I recently wanted to upgrade and was hit with all these upgrade charges. The first time I asked to talk to a supervisor and he was aware of what he could do. I was put off by the fact that as a 5 year customer I had to pay for upgrades.
When Dish is advertising for new customers free, I felt I was being jerked around. I discussed with my wife and realized I was asking for too much. I had to call on my cell phone to get into the Dish Network system. I ended up talking to another supervisor. I realize that the supervisors are allowed so much power to do things, but the 2nd Supervisor reminded me of the old time car salesman. The first supervisor I talked to was understanding, I did not get his name, but had to work by his guidelines and I understand that now. By the way the 2nd supervisor acted, I wonder how long Dish Network will remain number 1 most satisfaction. Most companies today realize that to retain customers you have to have customer satisfaction. Well that is not what I felt. After today, I felt like it was take it or leave it. I guess I will be leaving Dish Network. I feel you should know this and not let new customer numbers deceive you. To stay number 1, Dish network should try and work with the customers that made them number 1.

got fired for performance
I was a supervisor there and was fired because of performance when my team was doing better than allot of supervisors. I qualified for promotion to an upper level coach and my manager and General Manager did not approve it, which I indeed qualified because of my performance. I was harassed constantly and I even went to HR, and no feedback. When the GM fired me HR was there with him and they did not provide me any documents to show why I was termed, they just told me do to performance. I was working in a hostile environment since May, and this was the time I got a new manager that just became a manager, and she told me I was the lowest in her group and if I did not move the numbers up that she had no use for me. My team had been performing allot better ever since. At Dish Network, there is favoritism and if they do not like you, they will find a way to get rid of you with HR's support. As was told to me from the HR manager the director can do what he wants do, this was due to a situation I complained about. I had been with the company for almost 10 years, and I was dedicated to my job. I understand the company is cutting back on cost, but all the dedication I put in with the complany, this is how they repaid me. I would never recommend anyone to Dish Network because of the unprofessional leadership they have at the El Paso call center. Charlie should really research who he hires for management because they are making his company look bad, and there is no appreciation for dedicated employees.

Lies, not guaranties
I signed up for Dish Network 2 years ago. When I spoke on the phone with a service agent I asked specific questions, obviously they told me what I wanted to here. I asked about the 1oo channel package, and if certaint channels would be on there. They said yes. Not even a month later those channels I wanted were taken off. I called about it. They sent a letter in my statement they were doing that, they couldn't tell me over the phone before I agreed. BAD BUSINESS, Plus if I wanted those channels I have to upgrade and pay more. I did not do that. They claimed that it was an 18 month contract, if I cancel I would be charged the total amount of one time the difference from my cancel date and how many months left until the end of term agreement. 29.99 was my introductory rate, I asked several times over the phone if it would change, they said no. LIARS, it has. But if I wanted local channels it's 5.o0 more. If I wanted a DVR it was 5.95, so okay under 40.00 I can live with that. NOT, I'm charged nearly 60.00 a month now because they say in their contract they can change prices whenever they want and I cant do anything about it. YOU SUCK BAD YUCKIES!!!

charged by 2nd parties on Promo items
My husband signed up to Dish Network - phone number 1-888-825-2557. They called back to set up a site survey. When they called they said they had a special promotion which was a free gas card and a trial sample of the health pill called Acai Berry and all we had to pay was shipping which was 2.95 – which they did charge us and we are not disputing.Dish Network (unknown to us)handed us off to a company called Dish Pronto to do the local site survey (which was someone they contracted). They came out and determined that we would not be able to get the dish due to many trees blocking a clean signal. They called my husband back and said it was a no go and my husband told them to cancel all special promotions which was the free gas card and the acai berry. On Monday August 10th I received the Acai Berries and was charged 29.95. I called that company and at first told me I did not have a account with them. Then they said it was set up with as promotion with another company. I told them I did not care and cancel it. I then went to Dish Network and after being switched to different people I was told that they could not help me and that I had to go through the company Dish Pronto1-800-315-0788. After getting the run around. They told me they would take care of it. I would just have to email them my bank statement. That would never happen. I told them I would send them my Discover Card information with contact information from slim Time (the company that I got the Acai Berries from)1-888-332-8108 but only by mail and with a return receipt. They told me they could not have it mailed and after pressing the issue they revealed that they were located in India with no office in the United States. Sooo I called dish Network back and spoke to first Jerry #053 who was in Taiwan so couldn't help me, then to Andi #G2D who told me to fax and then finally sending me to An Account Executive named Micheal Cortez #4UP 1-720-514-8555ext:52271. He told me he basicially could not help me because Dish Network did not charge. I told him That I knew that they did not charge me but a sales man that his company handed me off to gave our information and charge to another person. They then made purchases with out our authorization and I felt they need to be responsible and ensure they hand their customers to some one reputable. So I asked If he knew who they had represent them. They said Dish Pronto. I asked how can Dish Pronto take care of us when they are in India. By this time I have been on the phone for hours and I have just about had it. I also did all of my calling by my cell phone so I could have a record of it. This is very frustrating.
