Bad service
I followed the instruction to mail back their receiver with their ups box.they told me that i will receive my remained money after they received receiver. 3 months over, i called 8003333474, their computer system remember my phone no. i called more than one hour through new service, the guy handed up me right way, i realized my phone no. is in their blocked name, so does not matter how hard i try to speak their rep. answer machine is always on.
Sounds like my money will never be back to me, after i sent receiver, i never receive any close account bill at all, i have no idea and no crew what they want to do to me.

fees,service
I've been with this service for many years, and I've had problems with remotes, service, and hidden fees. I decided to go with an HD service because my second tv would not work about half the time. When I paid the $200 I was told I had nthing else to buy, and my service would be an additional $10 a month. My bill went up $35 roughly and I had to buy HDMI cables to get HD. I tried to speak with a rep. and he said nothing could be done. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she was very short with me and said nothing worthwhile! I would like to stay with your company, but I think it's time to help me . Also I am a hurricane victim and had no service for three weeks. I don't usually complain but the service rep. said it was too late to claim anything on that either. The bottom line is that this is no way to treat a good customer. Thanks for your consideration, R Rogers

unauthorized charges on credit card
About 3 months ago a friend got dish network and needed a credit card to secure his acct. I let him use mine . Since then they have been charging his bill to my credit card, I called them to have the bill sent to his house . I get someone who can barely speak English, and he says he needs an acct. no. I explained to him 4 times that we don't have one since we have never recieved a paper bill. He cant find it in their system. DUH! I ask him how many people with the same name as mine in a town of 500 have 2 accounts he says alot, I say BULL! Not to mention the credit I was supposed to get for someone else hooking up with them. What a bunch of nitwits after my contract is up I will be going back to Direct TV!

Installation
I have been moving since Tuesday, November 18, 2008. I scheduled appointment with Dish Network for installation in my new apartment on November 12, 2008. On the day of the installation I called thirty minutes before the was to expire to find out the location of the technican and how long before it will be before he arrived. The representative asked for confirmation of address and phone of the new address installation. I found out that the appointment was cancelled with no reason of why. I stated to the representative that I am in the military and deploying very soon as in next month. I asked to talk with one of the Supervisors, Scott, identification number M50 for help. He refused to give me any help in this matter only when I asked to talk with his Supervisor did he say he could get appointment for tomorrow on November 19, 2008. I asked him to please verify my information to ensure that the guy would here and if he had a problem that he could reach me at home. So now it is today and guess what there was no phone call with no installation of my service. So I have to go the rest of the week and weekend until Tuesday November 25 for any service on my home. I called Dish Network to find out the status of my appointment only to be told my address was entered incorrectly. I am being to think that this company should hire trained monkeys. Because if you have a Supervisor and representative who cannot enter a address or phone number correctly into a computer then what else is falling through the cracks over there. You have a company who makes a mistake and does nothing to help the customer. They are more worried about adding extra services to you then to help a customer who has geninue concerns. I think what if everytime they made a mistake their employees were docked pay as we the customers are for missing our hours at work. Would that open their minds to better help the customers?

cant reach customer service
Dish operates at many small franchise outlets, so they have terribly understaffed customer service departments that don't answer phones for hours at a time. Don't order from any cold calls. You don't know where they are actually based, as mine was in another state, so even more difficult. They operate out of different retail store locations, and if have a problem and can't reach them, then try the National customer service line for Dish Networks, they say they can't help you with the individual locations and say they are powerless and don't have the records to deal with any of the remote outfits if you are owed money or anything. Another problem from past experience, is during big rainstorms their service always goes out. Many weather related problems with satellite cable. I tried to cancel an order within in hour of placing it, because when I called back, could only get sales department who would only refer to their customer service person for any changes or information, but who would not answer their phones. After trying to reach them for two hours, someone said they would cancel order, but months later still trying to get that refunded. Nightmare to deal with these people.

Fraudulant Claim Insects in Reciever
WOW! We had a faulty reciever we put up with for months. We finally called Dish Network and were instructed to return the unit. We did so and a few weeks later a charge for a damaged reciever shows up on our account to the tune of $275.00!! When I called to ask what was damaged I was informed that there was a note on our account stating that the reciever was "infested with insects and was destroyed immediatly because it was a biohazard!" I asked the nice man "what kind of insects?"..."Did they take pictures?"...I have no idea was my answer, I can only read the note.. I then spoke to a "coach"...and was given the same line, was infested with insects and I can't tell you anything about what kind or answer any questions...I informed the man that I will fight this and will not pay these false charges, then imagine my surprise when I come online and do a search and find another complaint on this website exactly the same as mine!!! I can't believe any company would stoop so low as to do this, I'm horrified of "bugs" and just the thought of it has me nauseated and made me feel dirty...I'm madder then I've ever been and will not let this one go un-noticed!

No customer service
In September I contracted for and had installed Dish Network High Definition TV. The picture never was in High Def even though I could receive certain channels that were supposedly in HD. I believed the trouble might be with my television and I would fix that when I had the time.
I disassembled my home theater (no small feat) to find the problem and discovered Dish Network's crack installer had connected the HD receiver outputs to my TV's standard inputs. After that problem was rectified I still had no HDTV. I discovered the installer had never programmed the receiver to accept HD programming, so I fixed the programming issue.
Yep, you guessed it! I still had no HDTV so I called Echostar, AKA Dish Network. I think the reason for the two names is to confuse people who know one or the other totally sucks. I was informed that the installer had never started my HD programming despite the fact that the dealer, Echostar and I each had a signed contract specifying HDTV.
I asked them to start it up but they told me I would need to buy a new receiver and sign up for 18 more months of their BS and pay twice as much for programming. I asked if everyone who had HD when I signed up had to change and pay more and was told no, that they still had the original programming at the original price.
Then the THIEF told me he would make me a 'special' offer because of the trouble. I could buy the new equipment at only $49.95, sign the new contract and begin to get the HD programming I initially contracted for. I checked their website and found that EVERYBODY got that offer. Man, I hate being lied to.
When I declined their 'special' offer they told me I could pay the additional price for the new programming, exactly twice as much as our contract stated, but only get the lesser number of channels of the original contract! Under no circumstances would they do anything to make up for their errors. They told me I was responsible because I didn't b***h soon enough.
I just want what I contracted and paid for. Hopefully because I have the signed contract and they never supplied the agreed upon service I can prove breach of contract in court.
Please avoid the troubles I've experienced. Google Dish Network's and Echostar's terrible customer service to see for yourself. They obviously count on getting new customers because with service like that they MUST be hemorhaging existing customers!

Unfair business practice
I had problems with customer service, and I canceled my account. When I returned the receivers by mistake I placed also my DVD player in the box. They received everything and now they do not want to return the DVD player back. The reason is: Because I canceled my account. It is abusive and illegal.
This in unfair business.

Bad service
On the 15th of Oct I received a call From Dish Network 1(866) 465-7883. I answered "hello" I was immediately hung up on. A few minutes later I received a another call from 1(866) 465-7883 Dish Network I answered "hello" and was immediately hung up on again! A few minutes later the phone rang again and it was Dish Network again this time I answered in Spanish and guess what they didn't hang up. I asked to speak to a supervisor so that I could get my phone number taken off the calling list. The man was cordial but not very efficient because guess what happened on the 16th Oct I received at least 2 more calls and was hung up on when I answered "hello". After speaking to a supervisor again for the second time in two days who assured me he would talk to his people about hanging up when someone answers in English. today as I sat down to contact Dish Network Directly All I got was a 1800 number where when I ask to speak to a Supervisor they ask Why. When I inform the individual who answers the phone he immediately states it will be at least 30 days for you to be taken off the caller list.Thats when I state thats exactly why I would like to speak to a supervisor, he states there going to tell you the same thing. I guess he didn't like me telling him he wasn't helping me so he placed me on hold for 10 minutes.Oh by the way guess what happened as I was looking for a direct number to Dish Network? you guessed right I got a call from 1(800) 465-7883 Dish Network I answered "hello" and was immediately hung up on. Not more than 1 minute later again they call this time I answer in Spanish an lo an behold they don't hang up. I explain to the the man at the other end that I have talked to someone that from this phone number and requested to be taken off the phone list. I stated to the man why. At this point I am glad the man heard me out even thou I don't think It will stop the calls.
the facts I spoke with a supervisor he either didn't care or he is not effective. Shame on Dish Network.
I tried to contact a supervisor at Dish Network couldn't get one or the phone person could care about whats important to a non customer. He gave the regulations without truly caring about why I was calling. Shame on Dish Network. The sad truth is this is bigger than the line employees that answer the phones the decision to cold call a phone number with a Spanish surname using people that don't speak English (or limited) is a bad practice especially if no one at the phone number called speaks Spanish.( and then your employee's are going to hang up because they can't reciprocate in English). I believe corporation have a responsibility to consumer that they market too. Specifically not to assume that just because someone has a Spanish that they speak Spanish.
I am 4th generation American I learned to speak Spanish at 23 years of age out of necessity. I fought For this country and earned two Purple Hearts in the service of this country. I think I've earned the right to be treated like an American, and not like a third world immigrant who just crossed over. Dish network What are you assuming of me, or my Spanish surname?
