Totally incompetetent staff
Dish technician came and confirmed we could install dish in our condo. So we purchased the renter's insurance which is required by the landlord and went through all the necessary processes. Called Dish Network and scheduled an appointment for actual installation. On the day before the appointment, I called them to confirm with our appointment and surprisingly it was not in their system. I was transferred 5 times and had to explained to them 5 times what happened before someone could acutally give me another appointment. A different technician came to the site and told us it's impossible to install a dish on the confirmed location.

Does not show up when scheduled
After sitting for 3 days waiting for Dish Network (Centurytel) installer to show up, I find I am at the bottom of the list and need to reschedule again for them to come to do an install. I'm suppose to be available during a 5 hour time period and have my TVs 3 feet from the wall for access. Here I sit for 3 days with my entertainment centers in the middle of the room.
Of course they charged my credit card for the installation immediately (almost a week ago) and I'm still sitting here with no Dish Network to watch.
After talking with a supervisor 4 hours ago, I'm still sitting here waiting for even a return call!

Customer Service
I was watching Oprah and my Dish turned off, I called and was connected to Matt Van Dusen, he was unable to rectify my issue and suggested that I had somehow created the problem because I was a sad and lonely person. I was very unhappy about this and cried for weeks. Now I live in fear of my television and I cant bring myself to call to have my service terminated.

Awful company
All I want to say to future customers is STAY AWAY FROM DISH NETWORK, NO MATTER HOW GOOD THEY SAY IN THE ADS -it's a scam.
Here is my experience after nearly 12 month of service: First they locked me in a contract for 18 months. Then, the first month bill showed numerous hidden charges (took me several hours of phone calls to dispute them off). Then after a few months, they increased monthly fee for several dollars more (while the contract is still in effect), and shamelessly explained that it's required by your state. After further confronting, they changed the reason to "due to increase in programming fee" and insisted that in the contract, they have the right to change the programming fees and charge you more. What a joke!

Pause policy/erroneous charge
For approx 4 years I have had Dish Network, used primarily with a mobile unit or dish for our motorhome. When traveling we would call and ask them to activate the account, when not we would not. This was called a "pause". Again, have had it for approx 4 years.
In June of 2008 I received a bill for $174.88 - after hours on the phone it turns out that if I did not activate the account within 6 months I would be bill for a previous program charge. They told me that I had agreed to this and that this was on tape. I said I had not and they told me they could not find any record of my account prior to January of 2008. I tried to cancel the account, they told me I would have to speak to someone else (yet another hour on the phone probably). This charge is erronous and I want to cancel the account and will go probably with Direct TV. Any assistance you could provide would be helpful.
Thank you.

Awful customer service
I was recently calling around to inquire about tv service alternatives to cable. I spoke with Direct TV, Verizon and Dish Network and provided each with the information that they claimed they needed to see what I qualified for so I could make an informed decision as to what direction I would go. The following day I discovered that Dish Network had charged my bank account $199.00 although I had never ordered service or authorized them to do so. This caused over $175.00 in overdraft charges and though they said that they would refund the $199.00 they would do nothing about the overdraft fees that their error caused. Trying to get anything done about it at all was a long frustratingly drawn out affair and offered very little satisfaction. I would recommend that anyone considering doing business with this company to reconsider do to their fraudulent practices and extremely poor customer service.

Harrassment
HELP ME TO GET DISH NETWORK TO STOP CALLING ME!! I am chronically ill & unable to leave my home most days. I have been getting harassing calls from Dish since this summer. The calls are now 2-3 times weekly. Every time I get a call, I call the 1-800 # listed on Dish website. I have spoke to many rude people who do not take any responsiblity for calls representing Dish Network. They ensure me that I am on their DO NOT CALL list & I have added myself to the national DNC. On 10-03-08 I spoke with a Dish Network employee Rubin Perea whom claimed to be in the DNC dept. Operator ID-4YI. His desk # 720-514-7637. I also have the number to a 3rd party call center that sales Dish via spoof numbers. Their return # 866-512-4714, I mostly got hang ups when I called and questioned why will Dish not stop calling me??? I live in a condo & could not even install a dish if I wanted. I don't know what else to do besides spreading the word about this horribly ran company. FYI- I have a log of each phone call for over the past month now.
