Disney Movie Club Reviews

Scam
It appears as though the Disney Movie Club (DMC) is just one scam after another. My credit card information was stolen and used to open an account with the DMC. The account was opened with my address, so I did receive the merchandise, although, I defenitely do not want them. I went through the credit card company to get reimbursed for the charges and ate the return shipping fee to send the dvd's back (and no, the company did not offer to reimburse me for the shipping charges, even though they accepted a fraudulent credit card, nice huh?) Well, a few months after that, I recieved more dvd's with a bill! I tried to get in contact with the company but they blew me off. I tried to cancel the account, but since I did not open the account, I can't get in to cancel it! The entire company is one big scam! I have stated that I would gladly send the dvd's back if they give me a letter stating that the account has been canceled, thats all. But no, they sent the bill to a collection agency. They are trying to scare me into paying the bill. Well, I'm making complaints with the BBB for both the collection agency and Disney Movie Club. I implore everyone else who has had negative dealings with them to do likewise and maybe we can save other people the hassle I've been through.

Accused me of not paying, well l did pay, and i have a receipt
NCO fINANCIAL services- Disney movie club has a bad acccountant, they are accusing me of not making a payment, we'll l got news for them, because l did make an early payment of twelve dollars on December 27, 2010. And yes l have a receipt of payment.

I think that was ignorant and uncalled for and l demand a apology from the manager of Disney movie club, because l always make payments at the end of each month, also, l'm diabetic, meaning that most of my small pension goes to diabetic supplies, vitamins etc. Iappreciate no further harrasment from them, and l will make a another payment this week.

Pricing
The club seems like a good deal at the outset. If you do the math you're spending just a few dollars for five DVD's, which conceivably could cost you almost $100. The rub is that fulfilling your agreement to buy four more movies within two years does not come cheap. The only way those four DVD's count is if you pay $19.95 or $29.95 (for Blu-Ray) each, plus shipping. The club has sales, but the sale prices won't qualify your purchases toward your agreement. For instance, right now they have DVD's on sale for $19.17. Even the free shipping offers are maddening, because you can only get the discount for full-priced items, and yet everything is on sale so nothing really qualifies. I recently bought "Beauty and the Beast" on Blu-Ray from Amazon for $15 and got free shipping because my order totalled $25. In order for that purchase to count as part of my agreement with Disney Movie Club, I would have had to pay twice as much plus shpping fees. If I bought 9 DVD's from Amazon for $15 each I would pay $135. Four Blu-Ray's would cost about the same from the club if you add shipping. To me, it's a lot easier to buy from another store as opposed to worrying about the contract.

scam
I honestly believe this Disney Movie Club is a scam. They sent a bill to my parents house for 2 movies for $28.95. The address was halfway correct as well as the name billed. My parents don't even own a TV, let alone watch cartoons. I called the number on the bill, and they asked me to tell them the credit card number to see if it matches what's on the account. NO, NO, NO I said you need to read me what you have in your account. For this reason, I believe it is certainly a scam. There are many companies out there that just need a credit card number, and then just fabricate an agreement and order, such as those book or magazine companies. Anyway, the numbers did not match of course, so they canceled the order and I made sure they canceled the account so nobody can order on that account anymore.

Scam

I joined the Disney Movie Club about 2 months ago when I saw an ad for special Disney movie prices. Naturally, after determining it was an official Disney site I joined and paid the price for the introductory movies. With the holidays and travel I neglected to check my email (I rarely check my email anyway) and didn't think anything else about it until I noticed charges on my credit card statement for movies I didn't order and hadn't received. I have since received the movies and did a lot more checking into this website and what I have found is utterly appalling on these and other pages. I attempted to settle my end of the contract I unknowingly got myself into and purchased the required number of DVDs. Only then did I find out they do not count towards contract fulfillment. I do not want these movies. I was planning on giving out the initial movies as presents but have left them all unopened until this issue gets resolved. I am seriously considering canceling the credit card number they have (and keep charging without my permission) and facing the legal ramifications rather than be held hostage by Disney. I am warning all my friends and family to stay away from Disney Movie Club and am recommending that they stay away from Disney as a company because if they are willing to stoop this low in one thing, they are willing to stoop even lower in others. The family friendly name I grew up with has turned into a warning cry for me and I will never fall into the traps that they are maliciously setting again. Disney has sold its soul and wholesome values to profit. Disney Movie Club, Disney Movies, and Disney Theme Parks have lost my business forever.

unwanted movies
If you want to speak to someone at the Disney Movie Club call 1-920-521-4015. Apparently you have to use the number for rotary phone users to actually speak to someone. I just found out that they are sending me a movie that I know that I declined. After not getting anyone at the number on the website (800-362-4587), I figured out that I needed to try the number that they give for rotary phone users. You notice that this is not a toll free call. Anyway, I did get to speak to someone. Now I will have to send the unwanted movie back, and be charged for the S&H, but I will have this account closed. My advice, don't join the club. I have found the movies for less in the stores.

Can't Cancel Easily
This is a wonderful company and we love their movies but their allowed marketing tactics are NOT acceptable. We've been VIP members of the Disney Movie Club for some time. When we started, we received about 1 offer or feature movie of the month. With the holidays approaching we've noticed that we now get a new "Special Offer" almost every other week. One such mailer did not come on time and I was automatically billed this month for a blue-ray title just a week after its notice coming in the mail. I always have the option of returning a title at my cost and waiting for my account to be refunded but the frequency of titles being sent is bothersome at best and is disruptive to our checking account. I've looked at automatically canceling my account but this is not permitted on the web site. They insist you call during business hours to deal with a person on the phone. I want to note that finding this phone number takes a lot of effort to find. Cancelation of an account in good standing is not even in the FAQ or search database on the site. My suspicion is that I will be solicited to and given a polite and passively aggressive "don't go offer" on the phone by a well trained service rep. It's just not worth it any longer. The titles we see being sent to us are not even in our preferred settings or profile. This smells of corporate greed. My account is paid in full and has been in good standing for some time but as I try to perform an amicable and positive discontinuation of services I can not and now I've grown altogether bitter with the Movie Club and how it operates. Disney is a wonderful company and I will continue to welcome their movies and products into my home but it MUST BE ON MY TERMS. ENOUGH MARKETING GREED. I'm frankly surprised this has not warranted a consumer law suite at this point.
