DCS took my tax refund last year and are trying to do it again this year. I would gladly pay my student loan back if I was able to afford it. I have a documented chronic disease and have been on chemotherapy for over 2 years. I am still working, but my health care expenses are 50% of my gross income which is less than $18, 000 per year. I also take care of a drug addicted 19 year old daughter in which I had to take out a personal loan for in order to pay for her 30 day court ordered drug rehab which was over $10, 0000.
I lost my car and am borrowing a friends vehicle to get to work. If they take my tax refund this year I will not be able to get a car or get to work. I work for a real estate company and have to have a car. It is a requirement of the job position. So, if they take my tax refund I will lose my job which in tuen will make it impossible for me to pay my rent. Are they so ruthless that they would harass to the point of someone being unemployed, homeless, etc.? I find it especially hipocritical when under the new stimulas plan that thousands of lawyers have been waived their financial debt connected to their law school student loans. An attorney should be able to pay them back, especially considering that without their student loan assistance they wouldn't have their high paying job.What does it take to stop this company from their means of tormenting and harassing hard working people? I could not believe the gall of these people. They contacted me several weeks ago by letter, how they got my address I don't know---but I've disputed how much they say I owe on my student loans and have yet to hear back with any proof about that. Then today the lady I am currently buying a home off of calls me to let me know someone is trying to reach me. It ends up being the same lady who sent me the letter from DCS! Is this even legal? I can't believe they would go and contact someone who has no relation to me about this loan! How did they even get her number? I am in disbelief over the whole thing and will absolutely be getting in touch with them tomorrow. They are horrible in my opinion and the other posts on this site back up that sentiment.

I have been having problems with Alice Truman concerning a student loan my daughter fell behind on. Ms. Truman coerced her into signing a contract to pay 50.00 a month to prevent her taxes from being offset. Her taxes are being offset anyway. I am on the account as daughter's representative as she cannot afford a home phone and cannot accept personal calls at her job.

Ms. Truman refuses to talk to me, claiming I am harassing her by calling and requesting copies of the contract, particularly the part where the paperwork I have states that any further collection attempts would be halted. It does not mention the fact that her tax refund would be witheld regardless. She then phoned my daughter AT WORK again, after being informed several times that this was not allowed and threatened to have "her mother" jailed if I did not quit phoning the company.

If I am on the account as a representative do I not have the right to call this person?

By the way...the paperwork has never arrived, surprise surprise.

I have contacted the FTC and the BBB concerning this company's and Ms. Truman's actions.
