hip replacements
I am so confused at how many doctors state they are able to do surgeries and yet lack in so many areas for the specialty. Being someone who has had to have hip surgeries and not being in the best physical shape to begin with we at the mercy of those who are supposed to be qualified in their areas. When one tries to have some recourse to hold these doctors accountable for their actions the malpractice lawyers say well your health is already bad anyway and you had no quality of life so what can we do to help you. I think I went in for surgery to better my quality of life and get off of disability. I am only 56 years old and have experienced hip problems from a very young age but got referred to doctors who were not willing to say they are new to the specialty and may not be qualified to perform it.
So instead of paying for one surgery you have to go another doctor and get another surgery to correct the original or in my case 2 surgeries. Then it may never be able to corrected. Who then suffers the recipient, the insurance company and the government who pays the disability insurance. Then they sit and talk about insurance reform instead of better ways to check out the doctors who are practicing to prevent malpractice suits. Which those of us who have no voice are able to get anyway. Just so confused about the system.

fertility Doctors
We tend to expect the medical profession to perform medical procedures to a higher standard of compliance than most businesses, but there are area's of this profession where Doctors perform surgery's and produce zero results time and time again.
I speak of Vasectomy reversals. it seems the medical watchdogs that keep Doctors and their advertising honest have let these people slip by without accountability. Most advertise a 96% success rate, but don't explain the math behind the 96%. they hide behind the fine print and unreadably small disclaimers like most businesses today.
This is an area of medicine that exploits the desire of married couples wishing to have children, these couples go from doctor to doctor paying thousands of dollars and in the end they have nothing to show for their investment except the heartbreak of disappointment.
On a recent Vaso- epididymostomy, I woke on the operating table to extreme pain as the doctor was still working on the right side. after the surgery and while I was recovering in a nearby hotel, the doctor asked if I would be willing to write a short letter praising my overall experience with his service and with my travel plans to his state and the limo service to and from the airport. which of course was extra beyond the $8.000 cash for surgery. I felt as if I had booked a flight to Disneyland, How can one expect a patient to write a complimentary letter before the results from the surgery are in? well there in now. not one sperm alive or dead. and so far between two doctors I have spent $20.000 dollars! now i'm looking at IVF (inverto-fertilization) the cost here will exceed the amount of $25.000. In this world today..if you pay cash, it seems the results are the same. they have your money, and don't try to do a good job. we need an oversight committee to open doctors records and find out how many are crooks, the first doctor I went to lost his accrediation to work with insurance co. for services, so he picked a cash service, and this fact was only discovered after his death, even though the medical community knew it.

Unethical charges
I would like to bring to the notice how doctors are mending money unethically from the patients. This is not a complaint but to let you know how a patient undergoes mental pressure by the fees being charged by the doctors unethically.
The feedback is on RAM AVTAR EYE HOSPITAL & GLAUCOMA PAVILION, C-17, Bhagat Singh Marg, Tilak Nagar, Jaipur-3002004.
The doctor was treating me for a sore in the eye on 25.09.2006 at 6:35 PM. The doctor without cleaning any instrument used them on my eye and tried to remove white puss from my eye. This led to a lot of redness and irritation in the eye and also could have caused further infection.
Apart from this I had paid the fees of Rs.120/- (Rs.100/- consultancy + Rs.20/- registration fees). I was told to visit after completing the medicine for 3 days and visit on 29th and no fees will be charged. I visited the doctor on 29th and doctor asked me to pay Rs. 200/- for removing the infection the other day and again pay Rs.100/- as consultancy. I was told that If I don’t pay then he will not treat me.
I think before giving medical admissions to doctors one should have a psychological test so see whether they are fit for the profession or not. A doctor is like an Army man who is not selfish for money but respects human life, the former saves the country and the later saves lives. But both are not selfish for money at least not Army men.
I hope doctors will give a thought. I am not giving my exact address as i am not filing a complaint but at least i hope the doctor will be brought to task.
