I am writing today to voice my disappointment in The Chrysler Group, LLC and the Federal Government of the United States for their involvement with the auto industry.
I currently own a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine (VIN: 1D7KS28C47J525330). This vehicle has been in the shop several times this year. Between the mileage of 40k and the current 62k miles the following has occurred.
• Rogers Dodge of Alvin, TX replaced the valve cover gasket. Upon pickup I was not only charged for this but the truck broke down one block from the dealership.
• Rogers Dodge of Alvin, TX replaced one fuel injector
• Rogers Dodge of Alvin, TX replaced the water pump
• Clear Lake Dodge of Webster, TX replaced the valve cover gasket and two fuel injectors
• Clear Lake Dodge of Webster, TX replaced one fuel injector
• I replaced both batteries and have an alternator on order
All this has happened in a range of 22k miles and since April of this year. I have incurred great cost and loss of work resulting from these breakdowns. Not only the $392.76 (I have attached a copy of that invoice) I was charged for the first visit which should have been covered under warranty but also at least one weeks lost work ($2280), weeks of rental cars (roughly $1200), and just the general inconvenience this has caused.
After the replacement of the last fuel injector I filed a complaint with The Chrysler Group, LLC and requested vehicle buy back. After several weeks of phone calls not being returned I filed a complaint with the BBB of Detroit and Eastern Michigan. Roughly 3 weeks later I received a response from Sheryl Broussard (District Manager from the Southwest Business Center) at which time my request was denied.
When you purchase a vehicle such as the Dodge Ram Cummins you would expect a vehicle that you can rely on for several years. This vehicle has not been reliable in any form and Dodges response is that the vehicle is running therefore they should do nothing about the repetitive issues. I have concerns with not only taking this truck on any sort of out of town trip but even more what will happen when this truck is out of warranty. Given the current record I will be spending several hundred a month just in repairs not to mention the loss of use.
I request that The Chrysler Group, LLC stand behind their product and make me a reasonable offer in exchanging my vehicle for a new vehicle. I am simply looking for the reliability I should receive from such a high ticket item. I do not expect anything free but do expect to be treated with the respect and consideration that any customer of any company should.
At this point in time The Chrysler Group, LLC has not shown any concern regarding the poor performance of their product nor have they even simply apologized for my inconvenience. They were eager to take our tax dollars to bail them yet when a consumer is in need they turn their back.
