Hi I'm employed with Dollar General and experienced several issues that made me very uncomfortable. For starters I was told by a third key manager that I was only hired because of my race and that Dollar General had to hire so many minorities per store and since they didn't have any minorities in the store that is why I was hired. I couldn't believe what I was told I felt so upset. I was warned by this third key to watch my back because I could be next on the chopping block because they don't keep minorities for long at one store for long. The company moves them around to different stores. When I was hired I believed Dollar General to be a reasonable company that had values and had affirmative action, but it turned out not to be the case. I wrote a statement of what happened and gave it to my manager to give to the district manager. I also sent one to corporate office kept a copy for myself and filed a complaint over the phone with corporate for my protection and for my rights. Before all this took place I was told I was going to be training to be a third key manager, but after I submitted my complaint nothing ever came of it. I strongly believe in equal rights for everyone no matter who or what race you are if you do your job the way it should be done then that's all that should matter. If there is anyone out there and your experiencing this same issue please don't stay quit about it your just as important as anyone else and it is not worth it.
