I took my car into Domestic Auto for a check engine light. I have to trust that what they told me needed to be fixed, was really what the problem was. My check engine light is no longer on. The reason I question if what they charged me for is really true is because they always do a “final inspection" of your car to alert you to other problems. I was told that my back brakes needed to be replaced. That they were at 90% worn, but the drums were still good and for $ 229.00 they could take care of my brakes. In addition, they would flush my brake fluid for $65.45.
Well, I went to a local auto parts store, purchased brakes for $23 so my ex husband and son were going to replace them for me. When they opened the drums, there was nothing wrong with the brakes. No wear! They advised me to have my brakes checked again in about 5, 000 miles. Also, that having my brake fluid flushed is just bogus.
Did they take advantage of me because I am female or do they do this to guys too??
