The first day that I met with Don was at the court house the day of court. I was there for a DUI. I acquired him at the last minute and through a friend. After the first appearance of which he had the day rescheduled, I gave him a down payment of 400.00, of which we both agreed. I asked could I pay in installments because I was not working, he responded yes. That was the first payment.
I received the next court date. This happened on a Friday. Later on that night I texted him to ask for his E-mail address so that I could explain in detail what took place since it appeared that he had little time to talk on the phone, and we had not met in his office. His exact words were and I quote..." are you going to send me some pictures of you?" I said no Don, you are my attorney and Im your client.
After that very conversation, any conversation that took place after that when it did, he was very short with me, nasty, sarcastic, and down right disrespectful. I've had many attorney's and have never ever had one speak to me the way that he did. The only reason why I did not get smart with him or put him in his place was because I needed him and he was all I had. I was very uncomfortable. He would never return calls or test messages. It was so hard to get a hold of him. I texted him to ask for his mailing address so that I could send his payments to, and he responded right away. This was the first payment after the initial down payment of 400.00, it was 200.00. The day of the next court date came around. I called him to let him know that my nephew committed suicide and I had to go to the funeral which was on that Friday. I told him that I could not be there. He stated well you have to..
I asked him to please let the judge know and that I could send a note if needed. He told me that he would appear that day. I found out later that he did not even appear on my behalf. Prior to me finding out I had been sending him payments of 200.00. I kept trying to call him to find out what the judge said in court (mind you at this time I did not know that he did not appear), he would not return the text messages or the phones messages. When I finally got in touch with him again he was nasty, short and acted like I should not have been calling him. He said that the jusge made mention to house arrest. I then asked when was the next court date, he said that he would text me the date because I had not received anything in the mail. He never did that.
The next time was weeks later that I spoke with him, he said I will call you back Im going into the jail to see someone. He also asked about a payment, I said it's in the mail. He never called back and again did not answer the text messages and/or the phone messages. Weeks again passed, I begged him via text which I found myself doing quite often to please call me. Again, he did not, meanwhile Im sending his money. When I finally spoke with him I asked when was the court date for I had not received anything in the mail, he said with his nasty self again, I sent you the court date, if you don't know what it is its not my problem. I said Don I have not even spoken with you because you don't return calls. He said well I would have sent it right after the court date. Mind you Im kept asking when the next one was, so how could he have sent me information that did not exist. We had never gone back to court.
I said would you please send me the court date. He hung on on me yet again after his nasty response. He never called back and never sent it. I trusted him. By then I was beyond angry and realized that he was stalling until he received the remainder of his money. I sent him a text that stated. I try to patronize my own and this is where it gets me everytime. He sends back a text, you have to be patient, you got some nerve being that you owe me money. My response...I owe you 200.00 Don. We agreed on installments and I have lived up to my part of the deal. I get no return calls, I have no ideal what is going on with my case and when I do talk to you, you are rude, nasty and disrespectful.
When I did not get answers from him and was totally fed up, I called the court house in Philadelphia, only to find out that a warrant was released for my arrest. I called his cell phone and was livid. I then requested from the courts paperwork from the discplinary board. I have not heard from him after he left a message on my phone full of profanity and unprofessionalism. I would like my money back. I also found out that my license was suspened for another year, on 3 August 2009.
