Door Store Stole my Money
I ordered a table from Door Store in AUGUST 2009 and now it is Christmas time. After waiting from August until November 15 with their continuous lies about delays in the order, I finally had enough and told them that I wanted a refund. The store manager at their 17th Street Chelsea location told me he would process a refund but it would take 4-6 weeks because I had paid by debit card (so they've got my money!) and they would send me a check by mail. I stopped by today, and they told me the company is not processing refunds anymore. What BS! So now they've got my money and will not give it back. I don't want a store credit because I don't want any of their crap and I NEVER want to see them again or step foot in their store. Total aggravation in addition to never giving me merchandise for my money.

Horrible customer service, including lying to me.

They have taken my money and have given me no property. That's theft.

DO NOT SHOP AT DOOR STORE.

They lied about their company status and refused to refund for the cancelled order
I ordered over $1, 000 furniture in July 2009 and was told the delivery would be in Sept. I kept on calling them every two weeks since the end of Sept. and each time they promised the possible delivery date would be one week later. I finally cancelled my order in Oct. and they always told me that the refund was prepared by a financial institute. They didn't tell me that the company was purchased by American signature furniture and all the cancelled orders will only get the credit rather than the refund until today (Dec. 10). This is very frustrating. No one told me the story before and no one gave me a single call to let me know my money was seized. I am wondering what I should do next. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM DOOR STORE FURNITURE IN THE NEAR TERM. If anyone knows what I should do next, I would really appreciate it.

Misrepresented item & refund
I just got married in October. In preparation for our new apartment we were looking around for a new bedroom set which we found at Door Store furniture (located on 3rd avenue NYC) . The order was placed the week before July 4th . We paid 3, 000 for the entire Tribeca bedroom set in Wenge. October comes and we get the bedroom set in black, damaged, and missing a night table. Only the mirror was the correct color. The wenge was discontinued but still on display on the website and showroom.??? After going back and forth trying to work something out, my wife and I decided we just wanted a refund. We went to the store personally and were promised a full refund and that the check would be expedited immediately so we could purchase another bed. Our bed was picked up November 19 minus the mirror that we kept. I already purchased another bed thinking our check was on its way… . I called today (Dec 7, 2009) wondering where is my check. Anyway I just got the bad news that I’m not receiving my 2, 500 but getting store credit. I feel cheated and cannot even begin to describe my feelings toward this!!! This is thievery!! I was even encouraged to pay cash for a discount which I thought was great considering how the economy is doing .The company sold me a misrepresented item (see attached difference of my mirror the correct color and the rest of the bedroom set) and is swindling me out of money !!Regardless if it’s a store credit its totally unjust !!

Do not purchase from them
I am absolutely flabbergasted in my dealings with the Door Store. I
purchased approximately seven thousand dollars worth of furniture from the
them on September 4th, 2008. I was promised that it would be delivered no
later than the beginning of November. I received a postcard on October 10th,
2006 stating that the delivery of the king size bed would be delayed until
approximately mid January. In the meantime—fully expecting that I would
receive all of the pieces by November at the latest—I had sold all of my old
furniture, including my bed. I would have never purchased the items had I
known that I would have to sleep on the floor for two months. I called the
manager of the store and he promised to deliver a boxspring loner.

The first delivery came. The promised boxspring, however, was not in the
shipment. When I called customer service to ask where it was, they told me
that they didn’t have any king size boxsprings in stock and when I spoke to
the manager again he blatantly denied having made the promise. In order to
prevent sleeping on the floor for an indeterminate period of time I had no
choice but to switch the king size bed which was out of stock to a queen
size bed which was in stock. I had to also change the order with the company
from which I bought my mattress from a king size mattress to a queen size
mattress.

But it didn’t stop there. The pillows and cushions of the sectional were
mismatched. A leg of the table was scratched and some time later the other
legs developed bubbles in the leather. One of the chairs was chipped and the
upholstery on all of the chairs was loose and uneven. The Serenity Temple
Wood statue was broken is several places. The leather of one of the corner
sectional pieces was ripped and an ottoman was dented on one side. When the
bed finally came the frame and the mattress platform were misaligned and
consequently defective. In total it took three more redeliveries to exchange
the damaged and mismatched items. The replaced pieces, however, were still
defective. During this time I had to take days off from work to receive the
items. On one such occasion the Door Store cancelled the redelivery
altogether.

At the end of the day I wound up spending seven thousand dollars on
furniture which—five deliveries and over three months later—is still
defective. I lost five days of pay while sitting at home and waiting for the
shipments. In addition, I spent an exorbitant amount of time dealing with
incompetent and inconsiderate representatives as well as sales people who
were operating under false pretenses. I could in no way have foreseen myself
experiencing so much stress over the course of three months. I have found
that the Door Store practices false advertising and sells damaged furniture
to customers without qualms. Their customer service department and even
their drivers are aware of this fact and are unwilling to do anything about
it. Unless you want to buy damaged items, I would not recommend that anyone
purchase anything in this store.
