I signed up for the Book Club with the intention of ordering a few books, then cancelling my membership. I placed my first order and received the books with no problems. I then sent them a card with the titles of two additional books I wanted (these fulfilled my committment to the club). I then proceeded to try and cancel my membership before any more charges were placed on my credit card.
When I tried to call, I was informed that the offices were temporarily closed and "sorry for the inconvenience". However, there was no reason why or a date that the offices would re-open. This made me very suspicious, because they have an automatic withdrawal on my account as long as I have a membership. Very convenient that I can't get a hold of anyone to cancel...and they can continue to charge me.
I'm not sure what I plan to do, but beware any solicitation from Doubleday. You might not be able to get away!!!
