On 1/30/10 I purchaed a 3 day full access trial e-book download from download-gate.com for $1.65 with no further commitment. I went ahead with the order and entered all of my cc info in and hit proceeded, not once did i get a window that showed exactly what i was purchasing it just went ahead and placed the order. All other sites, have you preview your order before final checkout/payment. I then went to my email and saw confirmation of purchase and it said Premier Subscription that caught my attention, they gave me my order number and instructions and the benefits of the subscription. My $1.65 was not on the email as paid. I then received another email from PrivacyRescue.com ? With an order number and cost of $39.95 - not understanding at first as I read through it, it was a 30day subscription for privacy from what I was going to be viewing/downloading from Download-gate.com. I came to find out later that this is a default when you place your order with download-gate and you are suppose to uncheck it. But it is part of the terms and conditions which I checked and did not uncheck this. NOW can you tell me WHY a 3 day trial for $1.65 would require a 30 subscription to a privacy viewing ??? And WHY is this a default ?? It is a SCAM and associated and attached to Download-gate. To repeat myself, I only authorized $1.65 now I have $39.95 charge as well. I logged onto my bank and saw a purchase authorization for $81.85 ! I called the bank immediately and explained the events. The charge is in dispute as I write this. I proceeded to reply back to both emails that I received to cancel immediately the orders. I sent these emails several times. I unfortunately should have looked this company up prior to the purchase. I called this morning and they wanted the first 6 digits of the credit card used to place the order and then the last 4 when i did not enter them the call was disconnected. I have issued complaint with the BBB as well as the Internet crime complaint center. I searched this website and came across many others who have also been overcharged and subscribed to what they did not order. PLEASE FILE COMPLAINTS WITH AUTHORITIES. If they are a legit company they should make things right and provide their "potential future" customers with trusted online purchases. I have made many purchases via the internet and I have always known the total costs and what I purchased to be viewed for any errors or changes prior to order being completed. Download-gate you should read the complaints on this board about your overcharges, you have many unhappy customers and word of mouth, and sites like this where we can get the word out about being cheated is not growing your business.
