Billing Practices / Customer Service
I am a Canadian who was shopping in the US. While in a Dress Barn store I was offered a store credit card. When I questioned if I was eligible I was guaranteed that it did not matter I was from Canada - payments were easy to make from either side of the border. It took two months to receive my first bill - by which time they had charged me a late payment fee. I was not able to register on the company website to make my bill payment - does not accept anything except USA addresses. All of the normal payment methods are not available to non-US addresses except to pay by money order or by another credit card - both of course costing you more money! I sent a money order, closed the account and thought I was done...Noooooo...they took 3 weeks to apply the payment during which time they sent another bill with another late payment charge ($20 each month) and they continue to harass me and refuse to acknowledge the account as being paid in full. I have written a letter and made several phone calls stating I have no further business with them. Any suggestions on how to finish this off? I refuse to let a greedy company with nasty customer service agents win this battle!

Gouging Finance Charges
My complaint is self explanitory. In the wake of massive bailouts and credit problems I thought banks would appreciate their paying customers A LOT more. Here a copy of the corrospondence:


I appreciate your prompt response. Apparently the extra $10.00 charge being used for customer relations and I am sure THAT is also in line with industry standards.

Please be assured, as per my original comment, that I am giving formal notice that this account IS to be cancelled immediately, November 11, 2008.

Also I will NEVER shop at Dress Barn again. Please be assured that anyone who asks me about Dress Barn will receive an unfavorable rating.

This correspondence will be forwarded to Dress Barn customer relations management so that they can evaluate how World Financial Network National Bank reveres their customers with simple mediocrity. You will also be able to find a copy of this interaction at www.complaintsboard.com/new_complaint/
and any other consumer website. If enough of your customers "Walk Away" maybe you will feel somewhat remorseful as you close your doors for the last time!

I have had this account for some time. I have always paid this account
online and on the due date. Reciently you have implimented a $10.00
processing fee on you customers who decide to pay online ON THE DUE
DATE!! This is an OUTRAGIOUS charge and completely unjust.
If I go into a Dress Barn and pay my account in the store, there is a
longer wait for processing and employee time is used. I am certin that
with this perspective, it is a matter of time before you charge your
customers for that.
With intrest rates at their lowest, I am still paying almost 23%, now
you have figured out a new way to gouge your customers.
If this practice continues, I will cancel my overrated Dress Barn
account and take my business elsewhere.
