Unauthorized charge by Yahoo Travel
On 15 December 2008 I tried to book a business trip from Denver Colorado to Manchester New Hampshire, round trip. I went to the Yahoo Travel web site and was unable to confirm purchasing the ticket because I had no password. I canceled all the input and went to Expedia and booked the trip. The next day on my business card was a charge from Yahoo Travel for $325.00 for the purchase of a ticket on US Airways as well as a charge of $27.95 for booking fee. I called the number listed for Yahoo Travel and was connected to their outsourcing call center in India. After sometime trying to explain I did not purchase a ticket from Yahoo Travel, I was told a supervisor would call me back. After waiting several hours I called again and again was connected to an call center in India. I was told not to worry because the charge "was pending" and would "drop off". I was not aware that the charge had already been posted to my account until I talked with my wife later in the day. I then went to my bank and filled out the paperwork to dispute the charge. As of this day 5 January 2009 I have never received any confirmation of a ticket purchased through Yahoo Travel nor an itinerary for a trip. I cannot contact Yahoo Travel any way except through a phone call to India. I tried to contact Yahoo internet service and they directed me to an obscure web site that did not allow me to enter a complaint. If my bank cannot retrieve the charges my business is out $325.00 for an airline ticket there is no record of plus $27.95 for a services never rendered. Also I was told if they give me a credit it will cost me $150.00 to use the credit on another flight. I can only hope that my bank can get restitution. I wonder how many other people Yahoo Travel has bilked this way?
