Below is an email I sent to the Govenor of Missouri.
To whom it may concern,
I am a non-custodial parent of 3 boys. I had been paying child support monthly since 2001 until I lost my job on February 25, 2009. I have emailed over 400 resumes and made hundreds of phone calls seeking employment. I received a registered letter from Family Support (Joplin, Mo) that my hunting and fishing licenses were being suspended, also I received notice my drivers license was being suspended on September 11, 2009. I will be honest at first I thought this was some kind of joke. I love all of my children and have a 7 year old and a 3 year old that reside with me and my wife. I have to be honest in saying in speaking with the family support division they really are not very understanding of my situation. I have been told they are looking out for the best interest of the children. I am here to tell you they care about nothing but the money. My 3 boys have lived with a convicted felon for 3 years and his brother who is on the sexual predator list was frequently there as well. My oldest of the 3 boys actually resides with me and has for almost a year now. My 2 other boys are in and out of trouble so much that it appears to be their way of life now. They have no interest in visiting me because I want them to take a home drug test and they refuse to. My 3 boys have been in 6 different school districts in 6-1/2 years, and move on the average every 12-16 months. That is just the tip of the iceberg and will not bore you with any other details. I paid my child support on time for 6 years. I have been out of work for 6 months and one week. I spend on the average 4-5 hours a day actively seeking employment. I have nothing left but the clothes on my back; my home is being foreclosed on and have no idea how long I can keep our vehicles from being re-possessed. I am scheduled to fly to Dallas-FT Worth next Tuesday for a job interview and as tomorrow will not have a driver’s license. Sir, with all do respect how much sense does it make taking my license away? I need help!
Chuck
