I called to connect to DTV on 24 Apr 09; I had been a previous customer - had one unit in motorhome; no equipment installed, just received a new card number to access the satellite. The sales person told me that did not matter I could qualify for the offer of $49.99 per month and since I was such a good customer I would get it for $44.99. I repeatedly asked if the cost would be $44.99 and he said yes, plus tax and fees. Well, the FEES, part is what I should have inquired more about - he never gave me a number total of what I would pay although I repeatedly asked. I agreed to pay an additional $99 to upgrade to an HD receiver in one of my 3 rooms (the DVR HD and a regular receiver were to be free). Upon sign-up I received an email telling me I was being charged for the DVR HD and the HD receiver; I called to clarify and was assured I was not going to be charged. The customer service person cancelled that order, just to be sure, and re-did it; got another email with the same charge - DVR HD and HD receiver charged. Called again. No problem you are not being charged and we have made notes to that effect.

Upon installation I looked at my on-line account and found that I was being billed $53 for first partial month of service, $7 for two receiver access and one was free, $6 for DVR access. All in all it came out that I would be liable for $89 per month when I was told it would be $44.99. The fine print on the emails (Terms and Conditions) identified the FEES but at no time did the sales person tell me what those were and how much they were.

When I asked if I could cancel the contract I was told that it would be at a cost of $450. Their Resolutions Dept did give me a lower price (reduced channels from 200 to 59 - which is what I had with my cable company). I am so sorry that I ever made this change. I feel like I have been ripped off and have no recourse to to submit. I am now going to pay about $22 more per month for less service than I was getting from my cable company.
