I’m complaining about Richmond Virginia Trash Company Duck Disposal and their policies. My family has recently been Black Balled from the use of their trash removal service for circumstances of missing two to three months payments. Now, I fully understand that if you don’t pay for a service the company doesn’t have to provide one. I’m also not saying the company doesn’t have the right to refuse service. My complaint is the way they didn’t even want to listen to my explanation. I felt this was something that I needed to share with others so they understand that Duck Disposal has this policy in place.
The reason for the two-three month gap was my family and I were told by our builder that the foundation in our house needed repairs and that it would take two to three months to finish. We packed everything up in September and moved in with my wife’s family. To make things even more complicated my wife and I are both employed. I work in the DC area and am away from home during the week. My wife works in Charlottesville and we have two small children. With all of this going on we did our best to keep track of our bills. Two slipped by in all of the chaos. One bill was Duck Disposal and the other will go nameless.
Once I was alerted about the past due bill, I called Duck Disposal. I owed them around $30. They replied that the service was terminated so we can’t send anyone out. I replied, what do we need to get it up and running? The person said, “You didn’t understand, once it’s terminated, we will no longer offer the service to you”.
I couldn’t really believe what I was hearing.
Before you get all…you had it coming, let’s get some facts straight. I’ve been a valued customer of Duck Disposal for over two and a half years with no major issues. During the two-three months in question, my family didn’t live in our home and I don’t dispute that the fees are due.
Was it my mistake? Yes.
Does Duck Disposal have the right to refuse service? Yes.
Are there other alternatives for trash removal companies out there that are cheaper? Of course, I already found three.
Is Duck Disposal overreacting to a simple misunderstanding by cutting off a two and a half year customer????
By the way, the other bill that was missed only said, no problem, we understand; let’s get you set up again.
