TownHouse From Hell
The townhouse from Hell: Steve Boge from Eagle Rock Construction leases townhomes at 3470 Hillcrest Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002. He advertises them as brand new, energy efficient, high-quality, luxury townhomes. However, I am a tenant in one of these units and they are anything but energy efficient and luxurious. The appliances are bottom-of-the-line [almost] farthest from energy-efficient models you can buy. The townhome that I am [over] paying $1, 000 per month for has two huge cracks in the basement/foundation that are leaking water into my basement. He knew they were there before I moved into the unit, but he didn't disclose them to me until after I began to move into the unit. He conveniently had them hidden behind insulation so I couldn't have seen them even if I had been wise enough to think to look for them. Furthermore, the condition of the property is terrible; it is a construction zone with his construction equipment and debris all over the property. We are supposed to have garages, but you can't use the garages because he has them full of his appliances and building materials. Even if he didn't have the garages full of his own belongings, you wouldn't want to use them anyways because you have to walk through at least 20-feet of clay mud and/or ice (when it's frozen, it's ice and when it melts, it's thick disgusting clay mud) to get to your sidewalk/door. Yesterday, he left a garage door opener on my desk; when I pushed the button to see which door opened, it contained his appliances and construction supplies. When I called him, he didn't even apologize, he just told me that I had a bad attitude. Then, today, he left me a second garage door opener and when I opened the garage door, the garage floor was full of water and water was flowing out from under the garage door. Another piece of work landlord! If you are looking for a place to live in Dubuque, Iowa, please save yourself the aggravation and don't rent from Steve Boge and/or Eagle Rock Construction... After seeing how these places were built, I wouldn’t recommend using his construction company to build anything for you either.
